The objective of this project is to contribute to smart growth in the European Union by increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of investments in RD&I and by contributing to a better and more efficient connection of actors along the innovation chain. In order to achieve the above objective, 2 main target groups and 2 specific objectives are defined: a) beneficiaries of the SME Instrument at this level, the specific objectives consist in identifying bottlenecks to the creation of economic impact in companies benefitting from grants by Horizon 2020 SME Instrument and address these bottlenecks with the help of capable coaches. This service to beneficiaries of the SME Instrument is called 'Key account management'(KAM) and 22 of these services are foreseen. b) selected small and medium-sized enterprises with significant innovation activities and a high potential for internationalisation, which could potentially become beneficiaries of European support in terms of research and innovation but without effective access to consulting services for innovation management. At this level, the specific objective is: to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of innovation processes in those companies. This service, provided independently from a specific innovation project and focused on a company's innovation management system, is called 'Enhancing the innovation management capacity of SME” (EIMC) and 137 of these services are foreseen. In summary, the partners participating in this project (IAPMEI, ADI, CCIPD, CEC and INESC) expect to deliver a total of 159 services covering all the country. The project respects the excellence, 'no wrong door', proximity, subsidiarity and additionally principles as well as the mechanisms of signposting and follow-up of target audience inside the Network. This project is linked to related relevant services proposed in the SGA COSME 2015-2016 thus ensuring synergies between the different European funding programmes for the benefit of SMEs.

"Maritime transport emits around 1000 million tonnes of CO2 annually and is responsible for about 2.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions (3rd IMO GHG study). Shipping emissions are predicted to increase between 50% and 250% by 2050 – depending on future economic and energy developments. The ""end of use"" boats decommissioning is one of the main challenges for the nautical industry which poses a threat to the environment and is a recycling challenge ( in Europe, at least 80,000 boats, reach their 'end of use's each year). Staff qualifications, the inability to attract young workers remain one of the crucial points in Europe. To boost the recruitment of highly prepared staff requires initiatives addressing learning to make the Carbon neutral management and sport marinas related sectors attractive and to transform both the academic knowledge and high-level basic and transversal competences to be useful and applicable. The field of Higher Education has been recognised as one of the key drivers within the EU2020 Strategy to overcome the socio-economic crisis, to boost growth and jobs, and to foster equity and inclusion. Moreover, one of the key priorities for HE is the reinforcement of the “Knowledge Triangle”, through the support of innovation, entrepreneurship, and university-business cooperation. This specifically applies to those traditional sectors, such as the environmental-related sectors, where changes in education and training are required to equip the future workforce with the new skills for the new demands generated by the changing patterns of economic growth as a result of climate change (e.g.: water sources, tourism impact). Nevertheless, the European Security and implicit Environment Security is a key driver of sustainable growth with a significant contribution to Europe‘s overall economic health, competitiveness, creativity, innovation, employment, and growth. Staff qualifications along youth unemployment remain one of the crucial points in Europe. To boost the recruitment of highly prepared staff requires initiatives addressing training to make the sector attractive and capable of transforming both the academic knowledge and high-level basic and transversal competencies required to be useful and applicable.ObjectivesThe aim was to develop an International Master’s Module Programme for environmental security in Europe. The new Master’s module programme offers an adapted curriculum to equip the young generation with the specific, basic and transversal competences currently required in the environmental-related industries. This international Master Module Programmeprovides students with opportunities to gain additional skills by studying and training abroad. For these reasons, this Strategic Partnership developed a flexible learning pathway in line with the needs of learners and companies in the environmental security-relatedsectors. The project provided a joint study program between Higher Education and Stakeholders and Training that are providing enterprises innovation, expertise andadded value. PartnershipENSEC was a Strategic Partnership composed of eight entities from regions that are highly influenced by the climate change and environmental security aspects industry: Four universities, three SMEs with technical research and training centres and one industry association representatives.Main activities consisted in:-Conducting surveys, comparative analysis and evidence-gathering, studies of real life cases in order to have a real idea of the needs of skills and competences in theEuropean Environmental Security industry.- Development of a module-based curriculum with the integration of different learning modes such as distance, face to face or blended learning employing innovative approaches.- The creation of learning and training materials together with methods, pedagogical approaches and tools.- Capacity buildings and networking activities. The consortium developed a Study Report on current skills needs on the European Environmental Secuiry industry, a ModuleCurriculum together with a learning content andan e-Learning platform that is freely and widely distributed. Four Multiplier Events have been conducted at the end of the project. Results and impact.ENSEC contributes to the modernisation and reinforcement of education aligned to the needs and opportunities offered by traditional industries. The project provides, assesses, and seeks the recognition of basic skills needed in the environmental security sector. ENSEC also addressed transversal skills, suchas entrepreneurship, foreign languages and digital competences. HE students and staff, and also everyone involved in the development of this initiative had the chance ofincreasing their sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, their competences in foreign languages and, of course, increasing their skills and capabilities for employability in anindustrial sector which is the main key driver in many European regions. It is estimated that in the next five years there will be about 350 students benefiting directly from theeducational materials developed within the project. These will become better equipped to contribute to the development of the environmental security sector, to fulfil the demand of highlyqualified staff, to foster entrepreneurship in the sector. The proposal presented by this consortium is a proposal based on the continuity of the work that has been provided within the framework of the EEN-Innovate Plus PT proposal, in 2019, and whose objectives remain and are intended to continue. It should be noted that during 2020/2021, we will initiate new approaches to cope with the challenges posed by the EIC - European Innovation Council – “From Idea to Investment” - which the EEN- InnovationJourney PT now incorporate into this proposal, under the “Consultation of Enterprise Europe Network on the Work Programmes for 2020-2021 COSME and H2020 activities”. Considering the challenges of the EIC, in addition to the SME Instrument there will be new competition schedules to consider, from FTI - Fast Track Innovation and FET - Future and Emerging Technologies, which will require more expertise and tools to accompany companies benefiting from these programs, insofar as each addresses the needs of a particular community in the innovation ecosystem. The challenges posed will require new approaches to the team, and therefore the reinforcement of stakeholders and partners (e.g. Clusters, Financial Institutions, etc.) - creating greater synergies and converting the Network into a "hub and spoke". The envisaged outcome of this project in Portugal is to provide services to 179 SMEs in 2 years, giving priority to all the beneficiaries under the European Innovation Council - Horizon 2020 and its successors. The project will deliver “7-day service packages” to SMEs located in Portugal. The beneficiaries of EIC programs, SME Instrument, FET and FTI projects and its successors, will be supported by the partners, according to the geographical proximity of the companies. The KAM services will also cover the Portuguese Islands, Azores and Madeira, through the coordinator IAPMEI.
