This project is linked to recent questions in social geography : are our towns made by male for male ? Are their public spaces fairly shared between male and female ? Is there a social inequality favouring a gender and discriminating against the other one ? « Invisible walls » would prevent female from living freely in their town : are they real ? Can we find the same walls in different countries in Europe ?The project had several objectives: improving social skills (fight against gender stereotypes and discrimination, male-and-female equality and parity, respect for others, tolerance, team working), digital, scientific, langague (native language and English) and researching skills.French, Italian and Polish schools worked together on these questions by studying the situation in their own towns and regions. Searching activities, surveys and final outputs were drawn up by the partners teachers. Then in each school the 13-15-years old pupils compared how the streets names are shared between male and female in their towns, which jobs and responsabilities male and female are in charge of in city councils. They also made surveys about the way male and female live in their town. They created exhibitions and slideshows to spread what they found and their comments about it.

Situation at the startOur different schools seem more or less concerned with pupils'(lack of) ambition. They are usually lacking of ambition and mainly go in for vocational studies when they have the capacities to go in for general or technical courses ones. Objective(s)→ help our students gain more ambition and self-confidence by getting involved in a project turning around the practise of rowing.→ they would develop skills (travelling and getting adapted to other environments, controlling emotions, getting the sense of risk and security as well). That's why this project needs a transnational work.During mobilities, students will discover new way of lives. They'll have to adapt their behaviour and attitudes , develop their linguistic skills and control their emotions to improve and play safe.In parallel, they become aware that despite their differences, European people share the same moral and democratic values and that « Nous sommes tous dans le même bateau » !By the end of this programme (2 years long), pupils should be able to think about themselves in terms of « What am I able to do ? » rather than « What am I supposed to do ? » (pressure from economic and social factors)This programme is composed of broad outline being « indoor rowing competitions » and mobilities (preliminary works, a rowing lesson in a foreign language, creation of a log book, discovery of the local heritage, different way of lives and developping linguistic skills, activity linked to rowing).October 2017Launching of the project (indoor rowing competition)April 2018 – MOBILITY 1 - ISTITUTO COMPRENSIVO STATALE BOSA - ITALIE« The human body and rowing »1. Preliminary works2. Activities linked to rowing (nutrition – the way the human body works : digestion, calories, cardiovascular and respiratory system)September 2018 – MOBILITY 2 - COLLEGE JULES FERRY - FRANCE« Rowing and taking care of the environment »1. preliminary works2. activity linked to rowing = sustainable development(water cycle and management)June 2019 – MOBILITY 3 - COLLEGE DU WESTHOEK - FRANCE« the competition »1. preliminary works2. International rowing competitionFinal works / productions• creation of a logo for the project • presentation (using computers) of the school (in the national language + in the language spoken by students coming) • creation of a log book• creation of a website• a newsletter to all the partners and the education staff. We espect this project to have a positive impact on learners, making them more motivated by increasing their self-esteen, their linguistic and social skills but also their ability to work in groups, be part of a team and make progress together.

This project was based on a common acknowledgment in the three involved schools : pupils’ vocational choices are widely influenced by their stereotypes about male and female social duties and skills. Many of them think that there are jobs for men and jobs for women : male would fit jobs with logical and technical skills ; female would fit jobs with psychological skills, sensibility, care for others. That is why most of male pupils choose first scientifical and technical trainings, and females choose artistic, health or social trainings. These choices have serious consequences on career advancement : males will reach a well-paid job with responsability, though females will get badly-paid, insecure and junior job, without promotion possibility. The main goals of this project are- to limit the effects of gender stereotypes on vocational choices by making pupils aware that jobs can be both for male or female and get equality and mixity in the different trainings.- to make pupils aware of the gender stereotypes in their daily life and their representations in workplaces.- to improve skills in English- to improve digital skills- to improve oral skills- to improve skills in collaborative works- to deepen knowledges about Europe and partners’way of liveActivitiesTeachers from partner schools organized, prepared and wrote together teaching documents in English and native langages, including descriptions of activities for teachers and instructions for learners. All these documents are available on the project web site www.createyourownway.frLearners’ activities are shared and organized according three skills : oral communication (shows, accounts), writing communication (accounts, analysis), pictures creations (exhibitions, posters). Most of them needed digital skills. Results :The results are available on the project website, in English or native language with a summary in English.Teachers’ results :- project logo and slogan- website to load teaching documents and pupils’works- descriptions of activities in English and native languages (French, Italian, Polish)- instructions for learners’ activities ( English and native langages)- assessment grids (for learners and teachers)Learners’results :- survey results (charts) with comments- exhibitions- studies of novels and paintings- studies of schoolbooks- shows- pictures creations : advertisements, photographs- course observation reports- reports of company visitsImpacts :- taking in account gender stereotypes in teaching practise- Using teaching documents available for teachers in and out of the partners schools- loading new teaching documents and pupils’ works on the website- increasing mixity in vocational choices

We are four partners taking part in the Project “CREando y Comunicando Europa”, CRECE: Liceo Statale Giordano Bruno, from Italy, College Jules Ferry, from France, Licey Teoretic Bilingv Miguel de Cervantes, from Romania and IES Trassierra, from Spain. The project will be developed in Spanish. Italian and French students learn Spanish as foreign language and Romanian ones study it as a second language. The IES Trassiserra is the coordinator school, the Romanian one is recognized as eTwinning school, and the Italian and French partners take part in a Erasmus+ project for their first time. Students between 14 and 16 will take part in the mobilities, but obviously the more students participate in the activities at school, the more successful will be our project because it is very necessary for all of them to get concerned about the environment and the society where we live in, which are changing due to the globalization. The main topic of the project is how globalization affects to migrations, gender differences and cultural heritage: positive and negative consequences. We also think that ICTs are very important to develop the key competences. In that way the aims of the project are:-Develop transversal skills such as the ability of thinking critically, taking initiative and solving problems through a collaborative work.-Get concerned about social and educational value of European cultural heritage, its contribution to job creation, economic growth and social cohesion.-Get concerned about the importance of equality and respect between men and women. -Develop skill related with ITC tools and integrate them in the curricula.-Develop communication skills in Spanish.-Know how Spanish language is taught in other countries.-Get close the students to new ways of artistic communication trough visual poetry and video. The most important activities will be carried out in the mobilities: recording and editing radio podcasts and videos, and creating visual poetry. Afterwards, all the products will be uploaded to internet in order to be shared and disseminated. We expect that the result will be:-All the activities done by means of digital platform-An interactive album in eTwinning about the international meeting-A cultural guide about each school environment-The exhibition of the art work in the schools -A Youtube channel for the video worksOur main purpose is that these innovating activities are included in the curricula, so that students and teachers can use them easily. More and more of them are already using radioo podcast, for instance. We would like to do the same with the other creative techniques. At the same time, students are the future European citizens, so they have to learn about human rights, gender equality, cultural heritage, etc. Definitely if we want a better Europe we have to educate values and a culture in defence of human rights.
