<< Objectives >>The main goal of the project is to improve the quality of youth work through increasing the services which the participating organisations provide their target groups which include marginalised youth with complex trauma backgrounds. "The efforts done in the last decades from the EU institutions to provide, accordingly to international and EU convention on protection of children and young people, better policies in the juvenile justice system have proven to create positive effects for many young European, but there is still lot to be done. The rationale of those policies and recommendation is the same as the one that leads to NOISE: support youth in participation process, preventing them to fully or partially disengage from the “social contract” and help them to develop attitude, skills and knowledge for a fully integrated life in EU society. Partners in the NOISE consortium observed that the situation at the end of the sentence escaped from any protocol and/or coaching process which led the youth quickly to reproduce crimes so to enroll them in a ""career of recidivism"".Given the needs analysis, that is shared by all partners and that gives the same outcomes both at national and EU level, NOISE partners agreed to focus the intervention of the exchange of best practices in the field of life skills development for young offenders, and thus the correspondent tailored training for professionals working with this specific target group. General objectives:- Promote and reinforce cooperation between the different organizations that relate with the development of young offenders (justice, health, education, culture, sport)- Prevent from recidivism through improved models of intervention based on non formal strategies and programs- Facilitate and strengthen social and labour insertion of young offenders, promoting social inclusion, employability, intercultural dialogue in the juvenile prison environment- increase the implementation of non formal methods and tools for juveniles offenders in order to maximize the positive impacts which implementation of such measures would bring back into the society as a whole.Specific objectives:1. Exchange best practices in the field of professional youth work to prevent recidivism and promote the social reintegration of juvenile offenders by developing their life skills2. Train at least 25 youth workers/social workers/prison officers at international level and 40 at national level, in each partner country, on the best practices exchanged3. Empower young offenders to overcome their obstacles to a full inclusion by developing their life skills, in particular their spirit of initiative, self-consciousness, ability to manage interpersonal relations 4. Collect European best practices in partner countries related with the development of life skills in young offenders and publish a toolkit, called NOISE Toolkit, to be implemented and tested in selected juvenile prisons. To reach these objectives, the project is organized in 5 work programmes. WP0 - Project Management, Quality Assurance and Risk management (M1-M28)WP1 - Preparation and promotion (M1-M4)WP2 - International Staff training and local needs analysis (M5-M13). This WP includes 4 joint staff training events during which the exchange of best practices will take place concretelyWP3 - Collection of best practices and publication of the NOISE Toolkit (M8-M13): during this WP, partners will analyse the best practices shared and the learning outcomes reached during the international trainings and produce a collection called NOISE Toolkit. This will be the main sustainable, tangible output of our project. WP4 – Implementation of the NOISE Toolkit in juvenile prisons (M21-M25): during this WP, once educators and juvenile prison staff will have been trained and integrated the Toolkit as part of their professional background, they will test the non formal educational tools included in the Toolkit at local level, in all partner countries. Juvenile prisons or reintegration services will be the involved since the very early stage of the project. Professionals working with juvenile offenders will improve their youth work methodology, including those non formal tools (i.e. circle time, brain-storming, problem solving, mindfulness, T-Group, Team building) aimed at stimulating the life skills of young offenders, supporting their successful reintegration in society. Thanks to the implementation of the NOISE Toolkit in selected juvenile prisons, young offenders will practice leadership and responsibility, mindfulness and conflict solving, to which they are not used to, improving their self esteem and awareness of their own ability.WP5 - A3 (M26-M28): DEOR strategy evaluation, follow up, including the evaluation of the learning outcomes with Youthpass and Europass documents.NOISE will reach a wide sustainable impact on:- Directly involved youth workers/social workers/educators/prison officers who participate in LTTA, national training and implementation of NOISE toolkit- Directly involved young offenders aged under 18 y.o. in juvenile prisons or probation services who take part in WP4- Partner organizations, stakeholders and associated partners."

In line with Actions supported under Key Action 2 and the needs of this project to be carried out, the expected results of this project is to develop and to transfer implementation of innovative practices at organisational, local, regional, national or European levels and which are expected to bring positive and long-lasting effects on policy systems in which such Actions are framed, on the participating organizations as well as on the organizations and persons directly or indirectly involved in the organized activities. The uppermost purpose of this project is to strive to increase the implementation of alternative measures to prison for juveniles and young offenders in order to increase the positive impacts which implementation of such measures would bring back into the society. This is expected to be achieved through the main activities which include training of professionals working within the juvenile justice systems in order to enhance their knowledge and skills in their work. Furthermore, we strive to strengthen the involvement of the civil society through awareness raising concerning the benefits of implementation of alternative sanctions and measures. Through the involvement of public bodies in the project we strive to a more active dialogue with the policymakers in order to achieve permanent changes in the prevailing practices and policies. The methodology that is used in this project is based on the so called “Results-based management” (RBM) which is a broad management approach with a core focus is achieving results. The RBM methodology can be defined as a “management strategy by which processes, outputs and services contribute to the achievement of clearly stated expected accomplishments and objectives. It is focused on achieving results, improving performance, integrating lessons learned into management decisions and monitoring and reporting on performance”.It is expected that approx. 400 people will have direct benefits from this project’s trainings and good practice manual namely professionals who already work within the juvenile justice systems as well as members of the civil society who wish to contribute through volunteering. Indirect beneficiaries who will benefit through the dissemination of the project are municipalities and NGOs providing community based services and of course juveniles and youth who carry the sanction/measure of community service as a consequence of a judicial decision. The partnership, which geographically covers a large part of the EU territory, consists of organizations relevant to the project’s objective and with significant experience and expertise with key persons possessing high standard scientific knowledge of the framework.

"Having in mind that this was the first Erasmus+ project which Freedom Gate Greece coordinated, we can happily say that we are satisfied with the results. The participation and contribution of the partners to reach the results is undoubtedly significant and it can certainly be called a win-win situation. This project could have been categorized as innovation but as a newcomer, we chose not to design a project which we possibly would not have had the capacity to carry out. The main activities were the two LTTs which were carried out in person as planned with great success and satisfaction from all parties involved. Following this, the topics both theoretical and practical which had been presented during the LTTs, were compiled into the publication ""INMATE REINTEGRATION: Compilation of Theory and Practices"". Based on the material from the aforementioned publication, an e-learning space was developed on the Moodle platform.Further, it was estimated that approx. 450 professionals and volunteers would be trained in order to gain theoretical knowledge of the criminal justice framework and tools and ideas of practises used in partner countries in order to boost their professional efficacy. The summarized results include the capacity building of professionals who were trained but also other professionals that will have the opportunity to learn through the open access material which is published after the completion of the project. In addition, due to the exchange of good practices among partners, the organizations involved are able to provide more efficient, credible and valid services to prisoners and ex-prisoners.Last but not least the impact of the project results may have an influence on the decision-making of official bodies upon matters considering provision of rehabilitation and services at correctional facilities which through reduction of reoffending has the potential to contribute to a social change."
