People from the Middle East and Africa come to Europe for a better and easier life. It causes that in a near future these people will be employed by ""national"" organisations. It can cause a lot of misunderstandings between workers resulting from the lack or insufficiency of cultural competencies or skills how to cope with cultural risks in the organisation. OBJECTIVES: The objective of the project was to identify the cultural risks in the organisation, and to develop methods for how to cope with cultural risks in order for the organisation to operate as efficiently as possible. Moreover, the objective of the project was to raise awareness on cultural risk and to improve knowledge and skills through the design of the on-line training both for the staff of managerial and lower levels, which work in multi-cultural organisations. The aim of the course is to educate the target group on how to cope with the cultural problems occurring in the organisations and how to behave in order not to be socially excluded in the organisation.PARTICIPANTS: The project assumed direct and indirect participation c.a. 1000 people - people directly linked with the organisations, who are the partners in the project; people working in different organisations, who have everyday contact with people of different cultures and who can identify the cultural risks in their work.ACTIVITIES: The following activities were undertaken: three transnational project meetings (Cyprus, Latvia, and Italy), comparative research analysis on risks occurring in multicultural organisations (O1); comparative analysis on competencies needed for the staff in multicultural organisations - development of a competence map (O2); development of the training content for acquiring competencies enabling to eliminate or minimise risks in the multicultural environment (O3); methodological handbook and training course plan for adult educators (O4); CULT_Risk on-line platform (O5). Moreover, the multiplier events were organised and the dissemination activities were undertaken during the whole project lifespan.METHODOLOGY: The methodology in the CULT_Risk project assumed that the main responsibility belonged to the coordinating institution (Łukasiewicz - ITeE), which supervised the level of the performance of all tasks. In regards to the individual tasks, they were adequately divided into partners. The research methods used for the execution and completion of tasks included among others literature review, document analysis, case studies, discussion panels, discussions with experts, interviews, and surveys. In the meantime of the execution of the project the transnational meetings were organised, however, the partnership did not manage to organise all five planned transnational meetings. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, only three meetings were organised, but this situation did not influence negatively the correct completion of the tasks.RESULTS: The main results obtained in the CULT_Risk project were strongly linked to the outputs: comparative research report on risks occurring in multicultural organisations (O1); comparative report on competencies needed for the staff in multicultural organisations. Development of a competence map (O2); the training content for acquiring competencies enabling to eliminate or minimise risks in the multicultural environment (O3); methodological handbook and training course plan for adult educators (O4); CULT_Risk on-line platform (O5).IMPACT: The CULT_Risk project has the impact on different target groups: (1) employees and employers: improved awareness on the necessity of acquiring cultural competencies; broadening of horizons to see the bigger picture of the benefits from having and improving cultural competencies; improved employees satisfaction and motivation to work if they are able to solve any cultural conflicts, which can occur; interest and curiosity of cultural difference in the organisation society; (2) the organisation: changed the ethos and atmosphere within the institution, trigger changes in employers and employees and their views on cultural diversity and the need of deepening it.BENEFITS: The use of the developed educational materials and the knowledge on the issues linked with cultural risks in the organisation enable to avoid risks that can occur in the organisation and to ensure high efficiency of work. The benefits are also linked with the cooperation between partners' institutions. Some of them submitted other projects related to the cultural aspects in the organisations (ERASMUS+, Horizon 2020)."

However, these people are not initially familiar with the host country’s environment, and most of them face difficulties, when trying to find a suitable job. If they had enough knowledge about the environment and general order of things, which can be useful for establishing their own business, it can be beneficial for the whole society. At the beginning of the VLM (2017-1-LV01-KA204-035469) project a survey was developed and conducted in order to better understand the specific target group of the project and their needs. Also, additional information received during the implementation of the project from 3 partner countries (Latvia, Lithuania and Italy) served as a basis for further:•research not only on the most cost-effective, but also the most suitable training solutions and platform,•training guideline development,•testing methodology development,•training program, materials and practical task development. The developed project training platform includes not only country-specific, easy-to-adapt study materials in English, Latvian, Lithuanian and Italian language, but also information regarding the project itself and project partners. As this training platform will mostly be used by the NGO partner-organizations (responsible for the sustainability of the project results) after the project is closed, also their contact information is available in case some of the visitors of the training platform have questions regarding the available training solutions. On this platform all the interested parties will also be able to find not only the training materials, but also all the other aforementioned intellectual outputs of the project. The main aim of the developed training guideline is to define approaches and methodologies in order to support migrants and refugees in arranging their own training on social and business entrepreneurship and project management. This guideline can also be used by teachers and coaches to arrange training for migrants and refugees. The testing methodology describes the methodology, which must be applied in order to carry out the testing phase, from the very beginning to the overall evaluation report. It provides instructions, timing and objectives useful for the project partners, for the trainers and coaches, the migrants and refugees involved in the testing phase to perform the tasks assigned. Also, guidelines for mentoring were developed during the project, describing not only the stages of mentoring, but providing information, for instance, on such topics - who can be a mentor, what skills and experience is required. The developed training program consists of 8 training modules, which are created for individual, remote learning online. The program can be also easily adopted for classroom training. Some of the offered modules of the training program - “business forms”, “Taxes” and “Support opportunities” - are localized for Latvian, Lithuanian and Italian audiences, thus providing an opportunity for a deeper understanding of the country’s business environment. After the development of the training solutions a webinar training session was provided for educators within the project, who participated in the pilot training activities, meant to test all the developed training solutions in order to identify if any improvements are required. The selection and training of participants representing the target group for the pilot training activities was done by the NGO partners. To test all the developed training solutions, blended learning methods were applied – online, classroom training methods. After the pilot training activities technical improvements were made to the training platform itself and the practical tasks included in the training program. After completing the training program, the participants of the pilot training activities (representing the target group), were able to participate in mentoring activities where they met entrepreneurs, who were also initially immigrants in their host countries before starting up a business, the participants were able to receive any necessary consultations from the NGO organizations regarding all the issues related to setting up a business in their host country. After the conclusion of the project the NGO partners (responsible for the sustainability of the project results) will keep providing any necessary consultations and support, if a user of the training platform will be a newcomer (representative of the target group of the project) in the host country, who wants to realize his own business idea.

The European Union is facing one of its biggest challenges nowadays. Our project supports the believe that a greater coordination between EU Member States and the creation of shared European values will manage migrant and asylum flows more sustainably. Therefore, the project partners, being migrant organisations and training providers coming from six different European countries (Germany, Italy, Republic of North Macedonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal), elaborated a European module for integration courses called ""Living in Europe"", based on shared European values. Additionally, a corresponding train-the-trainer workshop has been conceptualised and an e-learning platform with all elaborated materials has been prepared. After finalising the first draft of the EMIC module, it has been successfully tested at the Italian Lifelong learning Institute CPIA by the partner GEA in Italy and at VESBE e.V. in Germany during a course for young refugees. This helped to identify the best target Group/conditions for the module and to adapt the material according to the findings. The test also brought positive results in terms of knowledge transfer about the EU of the students and in terms of usability for teachers.Synchronically, dissemination activities have been undertaken through regular updates and postings by all partners on different media channels such as Facebook and Instagram and we have set up our own EMIC website (www.emicproject.eu) and a newsletter has been sent to private and public institutions working with/for migrants/refugees. The produces material is made to be used by a broad audience and will be provided on the EMIC website, to be used by organisations as well as by private persons directly to learn more about the EU and the life in the EU. This makes it possible to provide the contents to the public in the long run"
