The textile and clothing industry plays an important role in Europe, employing 1.7 million people and generating an estimated turnover of EUR166 billion. However, it also has a significant impact on the environment which seems hardly compatible with the Commission’s European Green Deal and circular economy goals. Considering supply chain pressures from an EU consumption perspective, clothing, footwear and household textiles is the fourth highest — or fourth worst ranked — pressure category for use of primary raw materials and water. Also, textile waste is one of the most pressing, but perhaps not frequently talked about environmental problems faced globally. Italy was the leading textile polluter among the EU countries, followed by Czech and France.Over the past few years, the EU has been implementing a number of initiatives aimed at greening the sector which, undoubtedly, will leave their mark on the post-pandemic period, including the 2018 waste management rules package, imposing separated collection of textiles by 2025; the EU Ecolabel; and the Green Public Procurement (GPP) encouraging sustainability. However, a harmonized legal framework ensuring minimum sustainability and circularity standards across the Member States still needs to be defined. In the path towards a more sustainable fashion sector, the right to repair is considered key also by the civil society that, in April 2020, published a position paper with recommendations to the Commission on how the 2021 EU Textile Strategy should look. In this so-called Civil Society Strategy, various organizations call for the respect of human rights and the establishment of high social and environmental standards throughout the whole value chain. They point out that the introduction of a right to repair would create new jobs, prevent textile waste and tackle the issue of hazardous chemicals contained in garments. The ECOMODA consortium supports practically the respecting text by developing effective results with a great impact at the local, national and EU levels. To achieve this ambitious goal, the project will undertake many actions in training, financial grants, market stimulation, technology transfer, IPR protection, etc. The project “ECOMODA” constitutes the first step into a new dynamic sustainable community of diverse private/public actors committed to supporting skills development and employment opportunities across EU in the Textile, Clothing, Leather, Footwear and Leather Goods sector on young people. The high number of designers companies in the partner countries (CZ, IT, CY, ES, FR) shows that there is a clear need in investing in the clothing industry.<< Objectives >>The strong competition in the textile industry on international level imposes a better flexibility of the industry as well as the investment in education and the adaptation of new skills for young textile specialists. This is the reason for the need for enhancing the quality and relevance of the learning offer in education towards the latest developments in textile research and innovation. ECOMODA project envisages the development of new tools for improving key competences of young textile specialists: professionals in the textile industry, young entrepreneurs and students in higher textile education. Objectives of the project: •enhancing the quality and relevance of the learning offer in training by developing of a innovative textile course and e-learning platform/ Digital Pop Up Workspace and supporting the dissemination of the project’s outcomes; •improving the level and the assessment of textile competences, including entrepreneurship, green skills and digital skills;•promoting take-up of innovative practices by use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), open and flexible learning.•promoting structured inter-regional cooperation•improving the capacities of organisations in the fields of training of specific textile target group•promote entrepreneurship education, employability and new business creation, supporting the personal and professional development of the target group.ECOMODA welcomes the recognition of cooperatives in the key European actions for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, as means to achieve inclusive and sustainable economic growth (SDG8) as well as the commitment of the EU to “support the development of a competitive local private sector including by building local institutional and business capacity, by promoting SMEs, cooperatives, inclusive business models…”, recognising the impact of young creativity at the local level. ECOMODA will target in presenting the current situation within the fashion industry and means to success. ECOMODA project aims to promote also awareness, interest, skills and competences in most innovative issues of textile and clothing sectors, improving, firstly in the short term targets groups, the knowledge about the most up-to-date technologies for design and also manufacturing, but also management. Through the involvement of relevant training centres working also in the field of fashion, ECOMODA aims to re-motivate and valorize the creative and innovative attitude of young people, showing the potential and diversified opportunities of the textile and clothing sectors. Regarding the dissemination of the project, it is not only limited to those who will directly benefit from the project’s activities and outcomes, but involves also a range of stakeholders, actors, professionals and associations working in the fashion entrepreneurship sector. The partners believe that the proposed tools will provide ways for young people to enter in fashion industry and youth workers to maximize their time and resources when looking for upgrading their competences and helping youngsters to gain a wide range of skills and competences that are in demand in the labor market and especially in fashion industry shifting their focus on greener and more sustainable procedures.<< Implementation >>In parallel with the project’s research and development activities and throughout the project implementation period, a set of horizontal activities will be organised:Project planning; communication; monitoring; fine-tuning; organising partner meetings; drafting meeting minutes; coordinating, collecting and reviewing progress reports; defining of qualitative and quantitative success criteria; monitoring and evaluation; developing executive quality reports; reporting any significant deviation to the partnership and initiating a contingency plan; communicating with the National Agency. Education and training opportunities for youth have also been interrupted for long period, creating long-term implications for post-COVID-19 recovery. Although the pandemic intensified the uncertainty and anxieties for the future, it also helped to create new business models with market potential for young people, in helping to address both the major societal challenges that CCS are facing in light of this global crisis but also the opportunities for them that the crisis has brought to the fore. Building on the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on both the education and the CCS, strategic complementarities can be developed. SIDE will develop tools as measures to accelerate digital transformation and use of digital means to adapt to the way creative products, cultural goods, and events are created, managed, disseminated, accessed, and consumed. The project aims to equip young people with the necessary educational material and tools, as well as with competencies needed to come up with creative and innovative solutions and overcome unprecedented risks and skills inequalities, as well as to unveil professional opportunities that can be sought in a critical context. The partnership consists of six different partners from six diverse EU countries (BE, IT, RS, CY, GR, PL), which will work together, in the fields of formal, informal, and non-formal education, supporting the CCS by empowering young people through enhancing necessary digital skills for promoting Arts and Culture, to be successful innovators by developing initiatives on Digitalisation of Culture, in local and international level, assessing their level of capacity through quantitative and qualitative self-evaluation, and stimulating at the same time EU culture awareness for future generations, thus contributing to the recovery resilience of the CCS.The SIDE project aims to involve young people and particularly young artists for participating in the project's activities and events, but also for any stakeholder who would like to learn more about the project's subject. This will be done via the following outcomes:-“Digital Culture Course” (IO1)-“Methodology Toolkit on Digitalisation of Culture and Creative Sector'' (IO2)-e-Assessment of digital skills in Culture and Creative Sector(IO3)This project will also include four transnational project meetings that will contribute to the preparation, implementation, and evaluation phase of the project as well as six multiplier events organised in each partner country. During the project, one Blended mobility for young people in Italy will be organised: Two representatives from each partner organisation will participate in a 3 days blended mobility. The aim is to train and empower young people in becoming Successful Innovators in Digital Culture Citizenship, supporting further the Culture and Creative Sector in the context of digitalisation and the new realities that COVID-19 caused. The Expected impact of the project is the following:-Increased skills and knowledge of young people, young artists, youth workers in each partner country to successfully implementing the tools in practice;-Improved access towards sustainable education through awareness of skills and qualifications gained by using the IOs, which are adapted in the new, digital demands for the Culture and Creative Sector. In particular, the most important impact on the direct target group will be their enhanced competencies in Digital Skills for Culture and Creative Sector. The proposed project supports the implementation of full innovative, creative and interactive digital tools to increase knowledge, skills, and capacity of young people and other stakeholders, especially from the field of Art and Culture, for achieving a better understanding of contacting activities, initiatives and that enhance the cross-sectoral collaboration, support the implementation of new technologies and promote the resilience and sustainability of the Culture and Creative Sector. The biggest impact of the project is to recognize the importance of using modern methods that adapt to the demands of society's needs and socio-economic challenges. The project will provide equal opportunities for everyone to participate, in educational tools, interactive practices, and networking opportunities. All the information and material gathered through this project as well as the developed innovative tools will be digitalized and uploaded on the SIDE website. The partnership will capitalize and build on each other’s knowledge and expertise, as well as experience from best practices in their national context, for future circulation and transfer of know-how. Last but not least SIDE project's results and outcomes will have both international and local impact as well as clear and tangible benefits and more opportunities for all stakeholders involved.

The ever-changing nature of the European society demands a high-level of social skills; a prerequisite for inclusion. This is true for all countries regardless of stage of economic development and it affects both the people working with the youth and their target group; the youth. With our project we wish to address the need of youth professionals for continuous professional development with a focus on competences to support the development of the Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and the social skills of young people with low school performance, early school leavers, and/ or NEETs.Additionally, we wish to create non-formal tools and methods that are attractive to the aforementioned young people who are often feeling uncomfortable in formal settings. The development of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) through Youth Work is proposed as a means to ensure for all young people equal opportunities to demonstrate good school performance, to stay in school, and to get and maintain a job.OBJECTIVESThe project aims to promote the development of the Emotional Intelligent of young people with low school performance, early school leavers, and/ or NEET through Youth Work. To achieve this aim, the partners will first work on the competence development of youth professionals (youth workers, youth trainers, mentors of ESC volunteers). The objectives of the project are to:(1) Increase the skills of Youth Workers and update their methodologies so as to better support young people with fewer opportunities to improve their Emotional Intelligence including social skills, adaptability, stress management and general attitude.(2) Help young people with low school performance, early school leavers, and/ or NEET to develop basic and transversal cognitive, and especially emotional and social skills, using innovative approaches. These skills are becoming increasingly important for education performance and employability.(3) Provide youth organisations with a structured coaching programme that enhances self- awareness and self- management of personal emotions.(4) Raise the impact of Youth Work by creating an open European e-platform for best practices and creation of awareness on EQ at European level through innovative content. PARTICIPANTS15 youth professionals will complete the joint staff training at a transnational training event. 15 young people will be involved in pilot training at local level. 130 people representing the project stakeholders will attend the multiplier events. 45 people with fewer opportunities will be involved in the project activities.ACTIVITIES & METHODOLOGYOne international training event with a blend of methods: (1) self-driven online learning (2) non-formal education participatory methods. 4 transnational project meetings.A Website and presence in all major social networks will be created and maintained for 5 years after project end.A combination of dissemination methods will support the visibility of the project, the partners, and Erasmus+.The methods include classic and social media, digital promotion and face- to-face activities such as the multiplier events, and the final conference.RESULTS & IMPACTThe partners will develop and pilot innovative tools and 3 intellectual outputs:IO1- WeGROW methodological guide and a toolkit in Emotional Intelligence and Social Skills for Youth Workers. This is a toolkit that will contain the initial activities that will allow Youth Workers to get to know the young people better and learn about their individual circumstances through different activities, games, personal interviews, etc.IO2- WeGROW: EQ Curriculum – Detailed programme and training materials for Youth Workers with 5 innovative training modules, plus an Emotional intelligence certification for Youth Workers.IO3- The WeGROW e-learning platform will support new approaches to helping academically disadvantaged youth. The output will offer the wider community access to follow the updates, share best practices, and get all the knowledge developed. This will ensure to continue the collaboration of the project after the project ends.RESULTSThe project will equip the youth professionals with practical tools to use in their work utilizing Emotional Intelligence in non-formal learning.Through the development of Emotional Intelligence, the youth workers will support young people with low school performance, early school leavers, and/ or NEETs to enhance their school performance, reduce possibilities for early school leaving and gain employment.LONGER TERM IMPACTThe project will reinforce the international dimension of youth work and the capacities and international scope of the partners. The project will impact the influence and recognition of youth work.
