"<< Background >>Europe is the first continent to declare climate and environmental emergency. Part of the priorities mentioned in the European Green Deal is activating education and training to engage students, parents and the community in the changes needed. To reach the proposed climate neutrality there is a need for new, innovative learning approaches to educate all community members (not only students at school) on environmental and sustainability issues. The current available learning materials on environmental and sustainability issues are meant mainly for young generation or are too scientific and not suitable for wider community. Therefore ILCES project aims to strengthen intergenerational learning within community to promote environmental awareness and change of behaviour towards environmental sustainability through 6R’s of sustainability: rethinking, refusing, reducing, reusing, repairing, recycling. We will achieve the project objective through creating a set of activities to challenge local communities to learn, discuss and understand the importance of behavioural change ragarding environmental sustainability using e-learning platform. To involve wider community in environmental learning activities a collaboration between different organisations of local community is needed. Environmental awareness and change of behaviour is a cross-sectoral and multidisciplinary issue that demands all stakeholders to work together. In order to achieve the aim ILCES project will explore existing networks in the framework of local community between organisations and provide new ways, approaches, possibilities and models to ensure sustainable collaboration between involved stakeholders to develop forward-looking learning centres.<< Objectives >>The project overall goal is to strengthen intergenerational learning within community to promote environmental awareness and change of behaviour towards environmental sustainability through 6 R’s of sustainability. The project has the following objectives: - To increase environmental awareness through an active, critical approach involving people of different age groups. - To increase digital competence of the involved target groups while boosting their awareness on environmental issues. - To support local community intergenerational learning providers with tools and resources on environmental sustainability. - To highlight innovative and effective models and approaches of intergenerational learning in local communities through environmental educationactivities using 6 R’s of sustainability: rethinking, refusing, reducing, reusing, repairing, recycling. - To discover and identify core principles, different structures and approaches of sustainable local community involvement inintergenerational learning to raise environmental awareness through experience exchange and best practices. - To present challenges to implementing intergenerational learning in local community and forward recommendations for supporting work in this area.<< Implementation >>To reach the goal many activities of the project are planned to be carried out simultaneously. The first activity of the ILCES will be dvelopment of recomendations and guidelines for forward-looking community learning centres which has several tasks: exploring the existing situation, networks, activities carried out in local community in the organisation of adult/intergenerational education, developing methodology and structure of recommendations and guidelines, development of recommendations and guidelines for forward-looking community learning centres. The first activity will be strengthened by learning activity ""Effective networking in adult education"".Parallel with the first activity the development of Impulse book which includes 6 units of interactive activities following 6 R's of sustainable development will be started. Both results of the two activities will be uploaded in e-learning platform and available in 5 languages: English, Latvian, German, Italian and Croatian. The activity will be supported by learning activity ""Environmental awareness and sustainable development"". ILCES project will have 4 local multiplier events in Germany, Ireland, Italy and Croatia and an international multiplier event ""Open summer terrace"" in Latvia.<< Results >>There are three tangible results in the ILCES project:1. Impulse handbook.2. Recommendation and guidelines for forward-looking community learning centres.3. E-learning platform. The expected outcomes for the different stakeholders involved are as follows: - for adult learners: * better understanding and awareness of environmental issues and sustainable development,* experience of intergenerational learning, * enhanced digital skills, * international experience. - for intergenerational learning providers: * understanding of challenges while implementing intergenerational learning in local community, * newknowledge of different structures and approaches of sustainable local community involvement in intergenerationallearning to raise environmental awareness, * discovering new collaboration possibilities in local community, * betterunderstanding and awareness of environmental issues and sustainable development, * knowledge and practical skillshow to use e-learning platform in intergenerational learning. - for policy makers: * understanding of challenges whileimplementing intergenerational learning in local community, * discovering new collaboration possibilities in localcommunity while implementing intergenerational learning in local community, * resources and recommendations"

"The ""SALTO – Social Action for Life Quality Training & Tools"" project is based on adapting social worker training to improve the quality of life of the elderly and/or the disabled, especially by reducing the effects of behaviour-related disorders linked to illnesses, such as Alzheimer’s, as well as mental and psychiatric disorders, like autism.Medico-social structures are ‘’social’' because they target independence and protection, social cohesion, exercising citizenship and preventing exclusion. They are ‘’medical’' because these populations require care, whether routinely or occasionally, which is essential for their daily comfort. So, how can we combine ‘‘life projects’’ with ‘‘care projects’’ to enable the emergence of a project providing individual support and, in terms of the contribution of social work, a holistic solution satisfying the needs of users?Implementing this solution involves breaking down the compartmentalisation observed between the healthcare and medico-social environments so as to start thinking and working in terms of co-ordinated paths. In fact, social workers intervene with these populations by providing them daily support, as well as through occupational activities. The SALTO project aims to integrate these activities as part of therapy in order to develop or maintain cognitive, motor and social skills, which are all essential to the quality of life of users, in coordination with the healthcare sector. In order to provide a coherent and operational response to this issue which is already the subject of both theoretical and practical debate, the SALTO project brings together players with the ability, by pooling their resources, to present and combine the perspectives of researchers and field players, trainers/educators and social development specialists, healthcare and socio-medical professionals. Piloted by Etcharry Formation Développement, a social work training organisation working at the heart of professional networks in the Atlantic Pyrenees and Landes in France, the SALTO project also includes:- CAMINANTE: An association which manages several healthcare and social establishments in this area of France- AAPAVA: Manages two establishments for the elderly in the French Basque Country- CEFAL: Professional training organisation based in Bologna (Italy)- University of Bologna Department of Learning Sciences (Italy)- C’ENTRO: An organisation which coordinates several social structures in Venice (Italy)- MATIA Foundation: With its social science research laboratory, it is developing its own care and support model (Spain)- CIFP Hernani Social Innovation: Specialised in social development training (Spain)- VILA MARIA: An establishment for people with mental disorders in Pula (Croatia)- DIOPTER: Professional training organisation based in Pula (Croatia) Organised between September 2016 and August 2019, the SALTO project aims to produce 3 main results:1 – An ‘‘Inventory and analysis of innovative field experiences and training courses’’, developed during the project’s first 8 months.2 – A ‘’SALTO Social Development Training Booklet’’, implemented in 3 successive stages: production of an initial training programme, tested with both professionals and students, adaptation and formalisation of the final programme. The aim of this booklet will be to promote different social work, healthcare and medico-social training courses.3 – A ‘‘SALTO Technical Guide for Social Development’’ which will propose proven tools and activities, associated directly with training principles developed within the framework of the training booklet. These tools will be presented in the form of freely available downloadable files (creative commons licence) on a dedicated website and the European ADAMS platform. The consortium will organise 9 international meetings to give researchers and professionals as much shared time as possible to guarantee a truly common result. A work relation via a collaborative platform and meetings by videoconference will complete the system.Dissemination will take place through 4 events (one in each of the project’s territories), as well as through local technical committees which will associate all the professional structures in these territories wishing to take part. Finally, support from public authorities in the fields of social and health work has already been requested through the following contacts: Emilia-Romagna Health & Social Agency, Bordeaux Regional Health Agency, Bayonne Hospital Centre, Atlantic Pyrenees Department, the Basque Government, Gipuzkoa Provincial Government, Istria Region in Croatia."
