In the course of this project, the international leadership of the European industry in this segment will be strengthened by means of a digitized pilot line approach along the supply chain located entirely in Europe; working together with multiple organizations, combining different disciplines and knowledge areas in the heterogeneous power-ECS environment. Only these comprehensive efforts will allow reaching a high-volume production of smart power electronics to change the market towards energy-efficient applications to meet the carbon dioxide reduction goals of the European Union. Consequently, economic growth and Tackling grand societal challenges “Energy” and “Mobility” lead to safeguarding meaningful jobs for European citizens. Silicon-based power solutions will outperform new materials (SiC, GaN) for many more years in terms of cost-to-performance-ratio and reliability. Thus, the Silicon-based power solutions will keep innovating and growing the upcoming years. On a long run the project Power2Power will significantly impact the path to the industrial ambition of value creation by digitizing manufacturing and development in Europe. It fully supports this vision by addressing key topics of both pillars “Key Applications” and “Essential Capabilities”. By positioning Power2Power as innovation action, a clear focus on exploitation of the expected result is a primary goal. Smart energy utilization with highly efficient power semiconductor-based electronics is key in carefully utilizing the scarce resources. Energy generation, energy conversion and smart actors are these application domains where advanced high voltage power semiconductor components primarily impact the path toward winning innovations.

WEEVIL aims to develop a new L category 3-wheeler that is quiet, clean, energy efficient and safe, as well as attractive to the public so that the barriers for adopting it are minimized. The new vehicle concept is an ultralight and ultrasafe adaptable 3-wheeler, with a composite structure using new manufacturing processes for an affordable introduction of these materials in new vehicles. Modularity of elements (including battery packs), system integration and innovative vehicle architecture is considered in the vehicle design. The vehicle has a wheel width varying mechanism in order to allow adaptation to different speeds (wider at high speeds for stability, narrower at low speeds for space optimization and parking). WEEVIL will provide a new electric vehicle concept with innovative design to allow the user to adapt the vehicle to higher speeds or lower speeds and/or parking. Its characteristics will be lightness and safety, with a strong use of composite materials through new and affordable processing methods. A new drive-train with improved energy efficiency will be incorporated, as well as new solutions on system integration such as modular battery packs. WEEVIL solution will break the barriers for extended EV adoption in urban areas, i.e. vehicle capabilities and cost trade-off. A car-like comfort and driving experience in a reduced space (2-3 wheeler vehicle) is pursued. By providing a feasible concept adapted to the users’ expectations, the European EV car pool would be significantly enlarged, providing the pursued benefits on air quality, noise and environmental protection and also bringing traffic congestion reductions and a potential dominance of the European industry in this market.
more_vert Open Access Mandate for Publications and Research data assignment_turned_in Project2023 - 2026Partners:DFKI, SIEMENS, NTT DATA ROMANIA SA, ONLIM GMBH, WU +4 partnersDFKI,SIEMENS,NTT DATA ROMANIA SA,ONLIM GMBH,WU,FAGOR AUTO,CEFRIEL,IDC ITALIA SRL,Beko Europe ManagementFunder: European Commission Project Code: 101120323Overall Budget: 3,550,250 EURFunder Contribution: 2,908,620 EURProcedural Knowledge (PK) is knowing-how to perform some tasks. For industry workers, PK is the knowledge required to carry out a specific job, like correctly executing the safety procedure during maintenance interventions, or configuring an industrial system by following the necessary steps in the right order, or adopting practices and behaviours to optimise energy consumption in a plant. The challenge in PK management is that this kind of knowledge may be hard to explain and describe, oftentimes it is poorly digitalised, and, even when documented, it may be still difficult to access and retrieve by industry operators. The PERKS project supports the holistic governance of industrial PK in its entire life cycle, from elicitation to management and from access to exploitation. PERKS bases its solutions on AI (both symbolic and subsymbolic) and data technologies, by advancing and integrating existing methodologies and tools in terms of readiness, flexibility and user acceptance. The results are applied and tested in three industrial scenarios (white goods production plant, computer numerical control machines, microgrid testbed) providing different use cases in terms of PK complexity and industrial requirements. Besides AI and data, the third pillar of PERKS is people: the goal is to satisfy the concrete needs of industry workers, providing them with digital support to better and easier perform their tasks following a human-in-the-loop paradigm, and putting them at the centre according to Industry 5.0 approaches. The outcomes of PERKS are: a reference architecture for PK management; a set of modular, interoperable and complementary digital tools to be composed and customised to industrial requirements; specific integrated solutions to solve the challenges of the project use cases; a set of methodologies and best practices for broader application in other industrial settings, paving the way for a wider transferability across contexts and sectors.
