The Covid-19 outbreak brought an immediate change in our work style and many people were forced to work permanently from home. Within the work from home concept, people exaggerating in working hours reduces their movement and the balance of their physical activity. This aspect results from the employers' will to have more productive human resources and flexible availability in the work time-plan. (Open Access Government, 2020) (Oakman, Kinsman, Stuckey, Graham, & Weale, 2020)In most professional spaces, companies have ergonomic equipment such as chairs, desks. Even though employees used to work in structured environments with qualitative equipment, they cannot have this furniture equipment in their houses and tend to use whatever is easier and cheaper. The limited physical activity and the non-ergonomic desk and chair worsen the body structure, continuous aches in the back, neck, knees, and hands appear more recently. The pain is more intense when another musculoskeletal problem exists leading to disruption from work, low productivity, and reduction of the quality of life of the individual. (International Labour Organization, 2020) (HUFFPOST, 2020) (Open Access Government, 2020) (NHS UK, 2019) The groups mostly suffering from these types of aches are those having a sedentary programme due to the character of their work. These people tend to address trainers or physiotherapists to help them improve their condition but still, they lack the guidance when they must perform specific exercises at home to enhance their body and improve their conditions. In recent situations, especially after the COVID-19 restrictions, the home fitness concept increased in popularity because of convenience and safety. These activities are based either on videos or fitness apps without the personalised guidance from professionals that can encounter the existing musculoskeletal problems of the user. This is a current challenge that appeared for professionals such as physiotherapists and trainers since they cannot assure that their guidance to their patients or clients would be enough to ensure that the execution of these activities would be successful at home without harming themselves. (Nyenhuis, Greiwe, Zeiger, Nanda, & Cooke, 2020)Physiotherapists and trainers can provide their services in real-time. When it comes to instructing from a distance to their clients, they may not have the technological means and knowledge to guide them effectively and assure that their end practitioners will not harm themselves from following practices that do not apply to their physical condition and existing problems. Technology and personalised applications that allow the asynchronous guidance of the users from their instructors can be of high value for such specialists. (Nyenhuis, Greiwe, Zeiger, Nanda, & Cooke, 2020)The Rebalance project Identifies the following Needs to address:-The need to improve the instructing on practising physical exercises in environments without the real-time instruction of the physiotherapist or trainer, through the use of digital means-The need for physiotherapists and trainers to improve their services through digital solutions that permit personalised guidance to their patients/clients even if they cannot train them in real-time.-The need to introduce physiotherapists and professional trainers in a new method of instructional exercises, training, and body endurance to enhance their services through technological means-To raise awareness on excessive sitting hours and the problems caused to the body structure and health of an individual.<< Objectives >>Project Idea / SolutionTo reach the elaborated needs we aim to create an accessible online solution targeting to improve the conditions in which physiotherapists and trainers guide the individuals from distance and without dealing with general training applications existing in the market. The professionals participating in our programme will learn how to take advantage of new technologies in their field, improve their digital skills and have a final and free of access tool to exploit in their everyday activity. The final users will benefit from following targeted exercises enhancing their body posture and muscles and body structure through regular physical activity. This will be achieved through a tailor-made programme delivered in a cross-platform to exercise without harming themselves. The cross-training platform, to be created as a result of this project, will lead to a personalised solution according to the individual’s existing musculoskeletal problems and with the target to improve its condition without creating more harm through an excessive sitting attitude. The core activity for the creation of the platform lies under the fact that we involve the main beneficiaries, meaning physiotherapists and trainers, we educate them on the existing possibilities that technology can provide and we create a powerful tool to support their work but also their patients/ clients diminishing the harm to the individuals. We aim to involve Physiotherapists, Gymnasts, university professionals, researchers, vet trainers in physical exercise and physiotherapy to reach the target groups and technical consultants and developers to work on the final result.Project ObjectivesThe first result will reach the creation of a methodology with motivational resources to train the physiotherapists and experts providing services related to physical activity exercises. This methodology will incorporate knowledge on how to deal with situations in which they need to instruct people from distance and lead them to elaborate the creation of digital instructional activities showing precise moves and exercises to the end-users. The training plans to be created will represent different conditions and stages of the user experience in training. These activities will portray guidelines and “homework” that a physiotherapist or expert trainer gives to their clients from distance. As a second result, the materials to be created will be hosted in an online cross-platform to be exploited by the physiotherapists and trainers and to guide the end-users in adopting good practices concerning their body posture during work, the good practices during exercise and with motivational small sessions for little breaks from and the body’s better blood flow during working hours.Project Activities / Expected OutcomesFor the REBALANCE Skills Enhancement Framework(R1), the initial step will be to gather all the required information regarding the causes of physical problems and the existing challenges that physio and gymnasts face in guiding from distance their patients. The educational materials will be transformed into interactive resources and hosted in an OER environment. Validation of knowledge will be done through micro-credentials.The REBALANCE Cross-Training platform (R2) will be the tool to host the instructional scenarios for distant guidance in physical activity. Each user will have the opportunity to have free access to the tool and create its personalised program according to its situational, behavioural, and health-oriented needs. This tool aims will host materials prepared by the physiotherapists and gymnasts to ease their services and provide targeted guidance to their patients.Project Target GroupsThe project’s target groups will entail: -Direct: VET educators in physiotherapy and athletics/ Healthcare professionals related to physiotherapy/ Professional Trainers-Indirect: Employers/ Business owners / HR managers/ Employees with sedentary jobs<< Implementation >>OBJECTIVESFor the continuous professional development of physiotherapists and gymnasts in the exploitation of new technologies and applications in their work, we aim to create a targeted training methodology. Through this methodology, the target groups will receive guidance on what kind of technologies can exploit considering the new trends in home physical exercise and the needs of the population that face additional difficulties from existing musculoskeletal problems. Furthermore, we aim to create a tool to be used by them and in favour of their clients/ patients for distant guidance in physical exercise that will provide personalised materials through parameters related to the everyday life of the user and existing musculoskeletal problems. The instructional materials will be created by representatives of the target groups to support the learning by doing cause. All the results will exist in a tailor-made cross-platform supporting the final cause of exercising without harming. RESULTSThrough the created materials we aim: -To provide continuous training possibilities for the involved professionals in the use of new technologies. - To support a ""learning by doing"" methodology. -To enhance the VET sector and VET teachers with opportunities targeted to the development of the physio and exercise sector.-To provide training made by professionals related to the field of physiotherapy and training exercises.-To help physicians, physiotherapists, and trainers to endorse their skills and service through innovation and technology assuring the continuity of the guidance to their clients -To tackle the labour market sector to apply such practices for the employees-To provide novel training solutions under OER accessible to everyone.ACTIVITIESThe initiative envisions:-In R1 the research and the identification of the needs of the target groups and the potential final users will be the basis for the project results. It is important to create content that will represent the needs of the direct and indirect targeted audience. From this research, the first outcome will be the training methodology, the delivery environment with the training materials as OER and the knowledge to be gained for involving new technologies in their profession and services. The process in R1 will lead the tasks in R2.-In R2 the project will incorporate the creation of an interactive personalised Cross-platform that will deliver training of physical activity to the users. The motivation of the user will be endorsed through gamified content. For Healthcare professionals and trainers there will be a guide to instruct them on how to take advantage of this initiative and motivate their clients to use it.-The REBALANCE Club working as a virtual space, including all the project results, will serve as a dedicated online space providing live support to practitioners of the project results under the scope of creating a live community of youth people and other stakeholders. Through a live forum, the virtual space will provide the opportunity to expand the project network. HORIZONTAL ACTIVITIESThe concept for kicking off project activities is to focus on dynamic project coordination to achieve high-quality results. There are four layers to the methodology:-Conceptualisation and background research-Development and execution -Validation and implementation -Definition and designDifferent types of horizontal activities will aid the process of reaching the desired objectives through various levels. For a favourable impact, promotional activities and events are essential. All quality assurance techniques ensure that the project approach will provide high-quality outputs. Furthermore, the continual development of the quality of the training techniques for equitable access to all target groups will be ensured by the quality monitoring of project activities based on the Quality Plan that would establish a uniform assessment methodology.<< Results >>In this project, we aim to create an accessible OER training methodology for physiotherapists and gymnasts and an online solution targeting to support the digital performance of their services through continuous, online and precise guidance to their patients/ clients. The first goal during the project will be to create content relevant to the needs for technological transformation in our direct target groups. Professionals related to physiotherapy and physical activity face significant challenges when they are called to instruct their patients from a distance and to assure that they will remember precisely how to perform effectively the exercise in order not to harm themselves. Through a survey and consultation rounds, partners will collect information from representatives of the target groups to analyse their data and profile their general needs. Furthermore, the partners will collect data on the existing needs of their clients as well as the common musculoskeletal problems and their connection with a sedentary lifestyle. This step will embrace the personalisation mode of the training materials ( R1) and the final platform (R2). The outcomes of the project can be tangible and intangible. 1)Tangible results: The first tangible result will be the templates to be created during the validation phase of the needs of the target groups and the final report with the transnational data, which can be used for future research and will be valuable to demonstrate the current state of play (R1). The created training methodology, the training materials and the delivery environment, launched as OER (R1), will be another tangible result. The process for the initial tangible assets will support the third one, the REBALANCE Cross-training Platform (R2). This platform will enhance the digital services of physiotherapists and gymnasts and provide a free “fitness” web app, with instructional materials tailored to musculoskeletal problems and specific needs of patients. Gamification badges will have a motivational character increasing the engagement and the frequency of usage. A generate content functionality will allow the professionals of our target group to continue and generate content dedicated to the needs of their patients/ clients. The website and the REBALANCE Club will also be major tangible assets in the project's promotion. The REBALANCE Club will serve as a place for users to share their questions and ideas on the developed tools. Through an online community for all project practitioners, this area will lead to the development of a robust network and the formation of REBALANCE synergies. In terms of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), agreements to be reached among all stakeholders will include succession patterns for all exploitable project outputs to ensure the project's long-term viability beyond its financing period.2)Intangible results:The intangible outcomes which will ensure the project's long-term viability include: Raise awareness on the hands-on lifelong training of professionals in physiotherapy and physical exercise. Raise awareness of the new trends in physical exercise involving digital technologies.Enhance understanding of optimal activity performance as instructed by physiotherapists and comprehend the demands of the body when existing issues, such as backaches or knee discomfort, make it difficult to exercise. Help physicians, physiotherapists, and trainers to endorse their skills and service through innovation and technology assuring the continuity of the guidance to their clients.Using open educational resources (OERs) and open software in the learning process.Improving the quality of training for underrepresented groups to make educational opportunities more inclusive and accessible. In terms of long-term sustainability, the project consortium intends to keep the project Union active for at least 5 years after the project ends, to guarantee that the project's network of stakeholders expands."
