Young people living in the times of fast developing multimedia and technological progress are often not aware of the influence that modern technologies have on their health and well-being. The realised project covers three areas: health and sport, nutrition, modern technologies and was aimed at students, aged 16-19, of 3 secondary schools, their teachers, members of their families and the local communities. There were involved 96 students and 82 teachers, but there were also 5000 students, teachers, parents, members of local and global communities who benefitted from the project. The innovative aim was to raise awareness of the negative sides of unhealthy lifestyle and to implement health-promoting attitudes among the participants by means of designing and using a mobile phone application. The students designed a pro-healthy city game, which was played during exchange visit. The mobile phone application is of long-term character since it was used throughout the whole project and after its ending and its idea is to remind, inform and motivate all the participants regularly to lead a healthy lifestyle. The free of charge app is accessible on the project website and in an online shop. The project is interdisciplinary and multi-faceted as it concerns IT, Biology, Chemistry, Foreign Languages and Physical Education. The objectives were:• To develop pro-healthy lifestyle habits by introducing and implementing health-promoting attitudes;• To improve fitness of the participants in the time of the project by 10%;• To develop a habit of preparing and eating nutritious breakfast by 60% of the participants;• To broaden by 20% the knowledge concerning civilization diseases and their relation with nutrition and unhealthy lifestyle; • To improve basic programming skills needed for designing the application. During the project the participants learnt basic programming skills, ways of searching information on the Internet and checking its credibility, making presentations, applying IT tools to gather data, writing algorithm for the application. Besides that while working on questionnaires and articles the participants’ skills in reading and listening comprehension, critical thinking, team work were improved. Various techniques of team work were held; short films on nutritious meals were made; lectures by dieticians, doctors, trainers; interviews with grandparents about their diet were conducted as well as cookery workshops were performed. Students underwent a cycle of fitness tests; they participated in sport classes, bike trips, a volleyball tournament, yoga classes led by professional instructors. All the initiative is complimentary with the school syllabuses. We believe tthat through promotion of lifestyle conducive to health, which was the focus of the project, all the participants’ physical and emotional health improved. Health-promoting habits and prevention of civilization diseases were reinforced; the needs and practical skills concerning sports activities and healthy eating were developed. Thanks to communication with their peers the students developed their language competence as well as personal and citizen traits. Cooperating teachers broadened their knowledge and experience connected with promotion of healthy lifestyle; practised their managerial and operating modern technologies skills; learnt modern ways of promotion, new methods of teaching, improved interrelation-related competences; enriched their knowledge of multicultural differences.Through international cooperation, school exchange visits, steady online contact, mobility among the participating schools was developed. The schools established their reputation of institutions for which intellectual and psychophysical development of the students is a priority. Their educational offer was enriched by multicultural values. We believe that the actions covered by the project stimulated the participants to reflect on their lifestyle and led to implementation of health-promoting attitudes while, at the same time, motivated to develop modern technologies competences. We claim that in the future the outcomes of the project will serve further education of healthier and enlightened young people, which relates to the Euro 2020 strategy.

The educational system in many high schools in Turkey and in some countries in Europe is so exhaustive that all learning outcomes in curriculums are tried to be covered just in a theoretical way, with no opportunities to practise. In normal circumstances with more skilled or more self-confident students, this type of teaching may help pupils to recall all details asked in written exams or tests; however, it does not guarantee that they can show the same success in long term or in real-life. This situation gets more complicated when we consider shy and silent students who usually take a back seat in class and desperately wait for distinct ways of being taught other than visual or audible. Even it becomes troublous when there are students with mental or physical disabilities whose full participation in class should be ensured on an equal basis with the others. This debate has moved on over the centuries with academicians all over the world. They argue that such over-formalization of education which is primarily based on intellectual form of teaching is not adequate for the proper development of a student who is expected to become mentally-flexible, environmentally-conscious and creative when they graduate from their schools. To realize this mission, a more straightforward and more student-oriented approach is needed like Outdoor Education. Within the scope of this project, we, as five partners from Turkey, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Spain, aim to find out whether learning in outdoors as a complement to the regular curriculum will make a difference regarding the comprehension level of students in various subject areas. For this purpose, we will focus on 5 high-school subjects, which are Math, Biology, Literature, History and Art, and we will organize suitable outdoor activities for each of them. While in Math and Biology the participant students will have a chance to transfer their knowledge into real-life through explorations and experiments, in Literature and History they will examine and analyze a concept in detail via workshops and expeditions. Finally in Art, they will be able to join a variety of cultural events, from choral activities to museum visits and they will see famous art galleries and important street art examples. In other words, with our LTT activities, a total of 75 pupils will find a way to experience in outside what they have learned inside. To assess the effectiveness and the impact of outdoor education, we will use a pre-test and post-test design. If the statistical analysis shows a positive difference in student’ success rates, as we hope, then we will immediately start our dissemination activities. There will be seminars and workshops given to some local schools from various kinds and levels. Here, the use of nature and environment as a learning setting will be emphasized and some qualified and practical ways of outdoor education will be shared with teachers from different branches. Moreover, two teachers from the applicant school will write a scholarly article on the aims, processes and consequences of this project to be published in an international journal and publicize the project’s results via press and media. By this way, we will be able spread our ideas in a quick way and with ease. Lastly, our schools’ websites and the project’s online platforms will be open the use of other probable beneficiaries even after the end of the EU funding. To sum up, a strong collaboration among branch teachers from different countries and their common endeavor to find a more effective way of teaching will lead to a substantial improvement in high-school education.

"Being an Active Citizen means knowingly participating in political life and the full ingagement of a person in the network of rights and duties that are constitutive of being a citizen, it means contributing to our own community thanks to a sense of civic participation in each of us.Educating to active citizenship means raising awareness and informing students on emerging issues regarding civic education, the environment, non-hostile communication, the fight against bullying and cyber-bullying but also the integration of ethnic minorities and the fight against marginalization and gender equality.Active citizenship, in particular youth citizenship, is one of the key expressions in the active participation of citizens and is one of the greatest challenges of contemporary Europe in a system that is constantly changing and which aims at intelligent, sustainable and inclusive growth, awareness against any form of bullying, the integration of ethnic minorities and gender equality: students often lack the skills needed to share civic activism as a ""citizenship practice"".The project aims to improve and expand civic education and active citizenship education to be applied in several fields: the project provides for an exchange of good practices on the theme of active citizenship between five partner schools from Italy, Estonia, Romania, Portugal and Germany, to be carried out through 5 exchanges of groups of pupils. Each school will select for each exchange 6 students who will be accompanied by 2 teachers, for a total of 24 students and 8 teachers for each school will be involved in mobility activities in the countries of the project, for a general total of 120 student mobilities and 40 teacher mobilities to be carried out during the 2 years of duration of the project. The aim is to exchange good practices in the teaching / learning of active citizenship considered as a mind-set that supports students in a globalised world as socially active, responsible and cosmopolitan citizens. The objectives of the exchanges will focus on non-hostile communication, bullying and cyber-bullying, sustainable development, integration and non-marginalization of ethnic minorities and gender equality; the exchanges represent the means to bring students closer to the world of correct conscious and responsible communication through which to raise awareness on other sectors (integration, sustainability and equality); the cooperation between students from different countries will be strategic so as to foster the awareness of shared values, seen as a common educational model that allows full awareness. The good practices shown and observed during the exchanges will be collected in a ""Toolkit on methods to teach active citizenship and to become an active citizen"" addressed to students and teachers which will contain the project premise (needs, priorities, objectives), the guidelines for teachers and best practices developed in each country. The Toolkit will be drawn up in English and translated into the languages of the partnership, thanks also to the help of the students who will participate in the exchange, and will be a useful tool for the teachers and students of the project and for others who in the future will want to start educational activities in active citizenship. The student exchanges will be accompanied by local activities where schools will show the project outputs as well as creating a space for considerations and feedback on the activities already carried out and to be carried out.A project has already been started on eTwinning with the same partners, title and objectives as this proposal and the development of the eTwinning project will run parallel to the Erasmus + project.A Facebook page of the project will be created on which all the audio-visual materials of the project activities will be published, along with the Toolkit, the presentations of the schools, the exchanges and all the materials produced during the duration of the project. The partners will collaborate with each other also thanks to the project meetings that will be organized on Skype and, before the exchanges, project meetings to coordinate and plan together the activities to be carried out.The aim of the project is to develop the basic and transversal skills of the learners which are of fondamental importance for their global education, i.e. oriented towards an eco-sustainable world, with a high rate of integration and correct communication and information, to be achieved by supporting and implementing a system of open and innovative teaching methods to improve the quality, innovation and internationalization of school education and training through the transnational cooperation of the 5 partner schools."
