At its core, the project advocates for active engagement with local communities, gathering valuable insights on their mobility needs. Through participatory planning, stakeholders from various cultural backgrounds and geographical regions collaborate to share their mobility needs. This inclusive approach ensures that CCAM solutions are tailor-made to meet the distinct demands of each community, this is, it makes them vectors of a more equitable mobility.

It will do so by advancing existing, mature public transport-oriented, user-centric applications leveraging digital technologies, and piloting them to mature, market-ready TRL7-9 solutions. An “Operating System” for Public Transport Operators will be developed building on an already existing Demand Responsive Transit platform, enabling new modules for managing public transport operations, including Artificial Intelligence to enhance existing algorithms to match demand and offer. APIs and webhooks will power different kinds of integrations. These include an information layer for travelers and city stakeholders on air quality using Copernicus data. Curated information and KPIs will be disseminated to the public transport industry through the "Global Observatory of EU Space Data & Services in Public Transport", and selected data sets will be shared in a decentralised way following the EU Data Spaces reference architecture. As a result of JULIA, SMEs participating in the project are expected to raise their Return on Investment (ROI) by more than 20% by 2028, while +200.000 vehicles will potentially be equipped with Galileo advanced features beyond the project. Outreach of the project results toward the global public transport industry will be maximised through a bold dissemination strategy led by ERTICO and POLIS.

Such solutions are meant to represent the most innovative in the areas indicated by the Call: the project will proceed to their final validation before their introduction in the market, avoiding pure simulations or large use of prototypes. Following the System Approach, and with the participation of representatives of all key stakeholders categories, these activities will be introduced by the identification of innovation requirements (that will drive the impact assessment), the update of the Bus System Definition (as defined in EBSF). In addition to the impact analysis of the single solutions, the effect of combining key introduction will be evaluated. The “European Bus System of the Future" Roadmap will be updated with areas for further research and priorities linked to the project topics.
