As cyber threats to financial institutions grow, this project aims to develop a real-time measure of banks cyber risk exposure using stock market data and machine learning. Unlike existing backward-looking methods, this approach offers a forward-looking assessment, helping regulators and financial institutions manage risks effectively. The research will construct a cyber risk index based on stock market reactions, analyze its impact on banks valuations, and estimate the additional capital needed to withstand severe cyber incidents. The findings will provide a valuable tool for financial stability and cybersecurity risk management in an increasingly digital economy.

The labour market significantly contributes to inequality, with women generally earning less and facing more obstacles in career progression. Our research seeks to better understand how stereotypes can contribute to these disparities. We will study how stereotypes are formed when individuals are characterised by several intersecting social identities, such as gender, race and socio-economic status. For instance, stereotypes about a woman’s competence can be shaped by her gender but also by her race and socio-economic status. We will use both theoretical and empirical methods to analyse how these intersecting identities influence stereotype formation and gender differences in labour market outcomes.

At GenAI@Work, we dive deep into organizations to understand how and why Generative AI tools influence knowledge work and management thereof. Using a process research approach with ethnography as the main method, we uncover the intended and unintended consequences when GenAI technologies are integrated in real-world settings. This understanding is vital for demystifying the current speculations, fears and hypes associated with GenAI and work.

Het nationale begrotingsbeleid vormt een belangrijk instrument voor leden van de Europese Monetaire Unie (EMU) in het stimuleren van de economie, vooral gedurende een landspecifieke economische terugval.
