    Accelerate.EU, a collaborative European initiative, envisions revolutionising theranostics through innovative targeted alpha-therapies (TATs) using astatine-211. A unique consortium will combine diagnostics with potent cytotoxic effects of alpha-particles to enable precise tumour radiation while minimising side effects. Accelerate.EU's core objectives are: Innovate theranostic solutions based on therapeutic and diagnostic pairs for hard-to-treat cancers, exploring the potential for simultaneous preclinical studies and early-phase clinical trials (i.e. co-clinical approach) to showcase the enhanced benefits of these approaches for cancer patients. • Establish a robust and sustainable EU manufacturing and treatment infrastructure for astatine-211, ensuring compliance with quality assurance and regulatory guidelines while streamlining the supply chain across the EU. • Produce comprehensive educational and training content to support the deployment of theranostic solutions, fostering knowledge dissemination, transfer and longevity/durability Accelerate.EU strategically develop TATs to address unmet clinical needs in pancreatic, breast, and brain cancers. The co-clinical approach, incorporating concurrent clinical and preclinical studies, adds a breakthrough dimension to theranostics. Accelerate.EU pioneers 211At-theranostics establishing a resilient EU scale-up production network and empowering healthcare providers to offer TATs to cancer patients. Through the collaboration of experts from academia, industry and regulatory agencies, Accelerate.EU's implements a visionary approach addressing clinical gaps, accelerating TAT theranostic development, supporting EU global leadership, with primary target to improve patient outcomes for lasting impact on EU cancer care.

    PRISMAP - The European medical isotope programme: Production of high purity isotopes by mass separation proposes to federate a consortium of the key European intense neutron sources, isotope mass separation facilities and high-power accelerators and cyclotrons, with leading biomedical research institutes and hospitals active in the translation of the emerging radionuclides into medical diagnosis and treatment. PRISMAP will create a single-entry point for a fragmented user community distributed amongst universities, research centres, industry and hospitals, in a similar way as the National Isotope Development Center NIDC supported by the Department of Energy (DOE) has provided radionuclide sources for users in the USA. PRISMAP brings together a consortium of 23 beneficiaries from 13 countries, one European Research Laboratory and an International Organisation. It further receives support of leading associations and institutions in the field such as the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Our main goal is to provide a sustainable source of high purity grade new radionuclides for medicine, involving from the onset upcoming major European infrastructures, to provide a single-entry point for all researchers active in this field including SMEs, global pharma, nuclear centres, hospitals and universities, using standardised access procedures. The new isotope enrichment and standardisation techniques triggered in PRISMAP will expand our services and provide them to yet unreachable remote European laboratories. PRISMAP thus strives to create a paradigm shift in the early phase research on radiopharmaceuticals, targeted drugs for cancer – one of the major diseases in Europe - theranostics and personalised medicine, shaping the European isotope landmark as a gold standard to accelerate the development of the pharma industry and ultimately of a better healthcare for the improvement of our citizens’ life.

    ENSAR2 is the integrating activity for European nuclear scientists who are performing research in three of the major subfields defined by NuPECC: Nuclear Structure and Dynamics, Nuclear Astrophysics and Nuclear Physics Tools and Applications. It proposes an optimised ensemble of Networking (NAs), Joint Research (JRAs) and Transnational Access Activities (TAs), which will ensure qualitative and quantitative improvement of the access provided by the current ten infrastructures, which are at the core of this proposal. The novel and innovative developments that will be achieved by the RTD activities will also assure state-of-the-art technology needed for the new large-scale projects. Our community of nuclear scientists profits from the diverse range of world-class research infrastructures all over Europe that can supply different ion beams and energies and, with ELI-NP, high-intensity gamma-ray beams up to 20 MeV. We have made great effort to make the most efficient use of these facilities by developing the most advanced and novel equipment needed to pursue their excellent scientific programmes and applying state-of-the-art developments to other fields and to benefit humanity (e.g. archaeology, medical imaging). Together with multidisciplinary and application-oriented research at the facilities, these activities ensure a high-level socio-economic impact. To enhance the access to these facilities, the community has defined a number of JRAs, using as main criterion scientific and technical promise. These activities deal with novel and innovative technologies to improve the operation of the facilities. The NAs of ENSAR2 have been set-up with specific actions to strengthen the communities' coherence around certain resarch topics and to ensure a broad dissemination of results and stimulate multidisciplinary, application-oriented research and innovation at the Research Infrastructures.
