The population in Europe is living longer and healthier, and that is a great achievement. On the other hand, an ageing population raises major financial and social challenges. One in four (25%) persons living in Europe could be aged 65+ by 2050. The greater expectancy of life in Europe is posing serious challenges to healthcare, namely through the associated increasing incidence of various diseases, as well as health conditions, which the elderly are mostly prone. One of the latter conditions is bone fractures, which can typically occur as a consequence of osteoporosis. Furthermore, the consequences of associated complications in fracture recovering include further costs, not only for the patient but also for the European society in general. To address such growing issue, the multidisciplinary consortium of ROBUST takes this as a challenging use case for demonstrating the relevance and proficiency of smart mobile eHealth systems as innovative solutions to address surging issues in our ageing society. ROBUST targets developing a new concept and platform for remote monitoring of patients’ healing process, in the eHealth domain. An integrated mobile eHealth system will be devised exploiting recent advances in RF-based sensing technologies, which are being investigated in this consortium. The system will be able to respond promptly to dynamic and complex situations, while preserving control, safety and privacy, in a reliable and energy efficiency manner. The ROBUST system will include a fast feedback loop that dynamically processes sensing information to generate, accordingly, instructions to the patient, encompassing cognitive and learning capabilities as well. ROBUST is committed to create an exceptional network, which is multidisciplinary and intersectoral in nature, for staff exchange in the mobile eHealth field, namely targeting structure training and knowledge sharing towards enhancing the European innovation capacity in relevant eHealth systems and applications.

The main objective of Green Marine is to significantly accelerate climate neutrality of water borne transport through retrofitting existing fleets with cost and emission control solutions. To support decision makers retrofitting protocols and a software tool catalogue that gathers knowledge will be developed and validated. We will demonstrate these tools and the innovative solutions aimed at carbon capture mineralization, which also aids in deacidifying our seas; energy savings for HVAC systems through air-reuse; carbon and water capture with membranes, and the use of excess engine heat to produce a syngas to save on fuel consumption. An ultra-sound technology will be tailored to suit vessels allowing air-reuse saving energy for HVAC systems and operated as pre-treatment enhancing a membrane carbon capture process. The Ca/Mg – alkali solvent capture process is capable of removing 75% of the CO2 from flue gases. All solutions will be demonstrated first on a land-based engine followed by the selection of the most suitable solution for a demonstration on a waterborne vessel. The (land-based) demonstrations will represent the operation of a majority of vessel engines. By developing retrofitting protocols, simulations of the solutions, data generated at the demonstrations a software catalogue tool will be developed. Through engagement activities this tool will gain more users and more knowledge, its value and effectiveness will increase for all users. The project aims to bring the different solutions to TRL 8. The demonstrations, the software tool catalogue, and the dissemination and exploitation activities ensure that project results will be replicated globally. The consortium consists of 10 partners from 7 countries with 4 research institute, 1 ship company, which will host a demo as end user and 5 SMEs.

iTrust6G aims at designing and implementing a network architecture implementing the zero-trust principles to increase the trustworthiness of 6G networks at several levels: AI/ML algorithm exploited for threat handling, asset compliance, explainable security policies and asset observability. The prioject aims to improve the accuracy and the efficiency of the (i) methodologies used for trust determination (e.g. time to share cyber-threat intelligence, duration of the vulnerability assessment procedure, number of the assurance conformity check), (ii) the performance of the security procedures involved (e.g. number of classes of monitored resources, mean time-to-detection of threat, mean time-to-reaction), and (iii) the induced overhead over network resources exploitation (e.g. performance overhead due to the programmability models).
