The primary objective of FOSTER ITS is to design and develop the first secured GNSS module available on the market for ITS application. The FOSTER ITS products will be Galileo, EGNOS, GPS and GLONASS enabled and will offer greater resilience against the increasing range of GNSS threats by: • Detecting signal attack attempts (spoofing, meaconing and jamming); • Providing indicators to users about confidence of the positioning; • Providing proof of the integrity and origin of the PVT data (digital signature). The other ambition of FOSTER ITS project is to create a new ecosystem merging GNSS and Security. To reach these objectives, the FOSTER ITS secured GNSS module will: • Implement and enhance the Level Of Confidence IP (Intellectual Property) developed in the FP7 TACOT project; • Implement and enhance the Spoofing, Meaconing and Jamming detection IP developed in the FP7 TACOT project; • Add a secure Micro Controller Unit (MCU) to increase speed and robustness of security functions and ensure easiest security evaluation; • Implement Galileo OS Navigation Message Authentication Capability; • Target automotive grade and security evaluation; • Provide interface to support EDAS (EGNOS Data Access Service). In addition, the design of this secured module will natively allow further ITS security features in particular certificate and key cabinet that will be used in Vehicle-to-Vehicle and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2X) communication (IEEE 1609.2 protocol). The FOSTER ITS Team consists of experienced companies and organisations which provides the most efficient background for the performance of the project. This consortium is composed of FDC, ST Microelectronics (Automotive and Security divisions), Novacom services and NavCert.

According to the ERAccording to the ERA 2015 Report on ERTMS Longer Term Perspective, GNSS could prove a game changer for the European railway network by enabling a significant reduction of trackside equipment and by improving localisation performance. The conclusions of the STARS project have confirmed this potential. However, fusion with other sensors will be necessary to mitigate the known impact of local effects on GNSS performance. Capitalising on the achievements of EC and GSA funded projects, collaborating railway companies, i.e. SBB, DB and SNCF, would like to propose the project CLUG. This project will perform a mission analysis/needs identification and a preliminary feasibility study of an on-board localisation unit with the following characteristics: > failsafe on-board multi-sensor localisation unit consisting of a navigation core (IMU, tachometer, etc.) brought in reference using GNSS, track map and a minimal number of reference points; > on-board continuous localisation system that provides location, speed and other dynamics of the train; > operational and interoperable across the entire European rail network; > compatible with the current ERTMS TSI or with its future evolutions. To achieve its objectives, the CLUG's management and the design and development of the localization unit will follow agile processes taking into account former projects results – especially STARS – as well as observations resulting from new test campaigns. The CLUG consortium comprises railway companies (SNCF, DB Netz and SBB), railway signaling industries (CAF and Siemens), navigation specialists (Airbus Defense & Space, Naventik, FDC), a research institute (ENAC) and a certification expert (Navcert). Ultimately, this project is the key enabling technology for the future-proof development of train digitalisation and automation to respond to the increased mobility needs of all European citizen and goods by leveraging the train, a green safe and efficient means of transport.

Current emergency systems and 112 services are based on legacy telecommunication technologies, which cannot cope with IP-based services that European citizens use every day. Some of the related limitations are the partial media support (so far, only voice calls and SMS are accepted), the lack of integration of social media, and the use of an analog modem for providing eCall services with limited data amount. As most operators have started migrating towards broadband IP-based infrastructures, current emergency systems need also to be upgraded/adapted in order to fulfill regulatory requirements in terms of Next Generation emergency services. Τhe main objective of EMYNOS project is the design and implementation of a Next Generation platform capable of accommodating rich-media emergency calls that combine voice, text, and video, thus constituting a powerful tool for coordinating communication among citizens, call centers and first responders. Additionally, issues such as call routing/redirection to the closest-available call center, retrieval of the caller location, hoax calls prevention, support for people with disabilities, and integration of social media will be addressed. EMYNOS will enable users to make emergency calls across heterogeneous devices (e.g. PCs, TV sets, mobile, AAC and haptic devices) using various mature technologies, including those making use of the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), and WebRTC framework. EMYNOS will also demonstrate how the eCall concept can benefit from the IP technologies by allowing audio-video calls towards the emergency call centers and complementing location information, with photos and videos. EMYNOS involves partners with complementary expertise (telecom/satellite operator, VoIP provider, eCall testers, end users), which together form the chain for the provision of emergency services and which will deliver the EMYNOS demonstrator that will be validated in operational environment (TRL 7)
