How can climate policy lead to behavioural change? ChangeAble develops new knowledge aimed at accelerating behavioural change, provides insight into which individual, social and contextual factors stimulate sustainable behaviour, and how and when policy can effectively leverage them. ChangeAble also provides insight into how tipping points can be reached by improved policy timing for more widespread and faster sustainable behavioural change. ChangeAble identifies, develops and tests interventions to promote changes in social conventions in five policy areas. In this way, ChangeAble contributes to more effective, efficient, acceptable and just climate policy by making better use of behavioural knowledge in policy.

The chance that people with psychoses become victim of a violent crimes is three times higher than in the general population. This is partly due to the clinical syndrome that is associated with misperception of social cues, self-stigma, decreased self-esteem and a lack of assertiveness. Earlier experiences with violence also increase the risk of victimization. To tackle this downward spiral, an assertiveness training in which psychomotor interventions are combined with kickboxing techniques was developed. The effects of the intervention will be studied using questionnaires and fMRI in both a pilot, a randomized clinical trial and a follow-up study

In het promotieonderzoek van I.J.M. Wichgers wordt de rol van de school bij de profiel- en vakkenkeuze in het voortgezet onderwijs onderzocht. Van de NCO-dataset zullen verschillende onderdelen uit NCOVO gebruikt worden. Met die gegevens zal de eventuele relatie tussen schoolkenmerken en sector- en profielkeuze worden onderzocht. Daarin zal ook worden bekeken in hoeverre achtergrondkenmerken van leerlingen een rol spelen, zoals migratieachtergrond en geslacht. Met de NCO-data zal daarnaast de representativiteit van de scholen die deelnemen aan het promotieonderzoek onderzocht worden. De verwachte opbrengsten zijn verwerking van resultaten in het proefschrift en publicaties in wetenschappelijke en professionele tijdschriften.

What role does loneliness play in the lives of informal caregivers of people with chronic conditions and how can this perceived loneliness be reduced? These are the central questions of the current project. In co- creation with different types of informal caregivers (youngsters, parents and partners), we develop interventions based on both theoretical and experiential knowledge. As a result, we know how loneliness is experienced, which factors such as stigma or social networks are related and what these informal caregivers need from others to feel less lonely.

Child abuse and neglect is a major problem affecting an individual’s health and quality of life, and causing massive costs to our societies. This proposal seeks to strengthen the long-term cooperation between the Netherlands and Indonesia by engaging dialogues between policymakers, civil society, and the academic fields in relation to child protection sectors of both countries. This integration of policy, practice, research and education as a scientific diplomacy endeavor consists of a 2-day symposium to be held in Indonesia as a joint collaboration between the University of Groningen, the Amsterdam University of Applied Science and the Universitas Padjadjaran.
