"Mosaic Art: Each Mosaic Has A Story To Tell. In today’s highly economized educational systems where score-based policy tendencies are prevalent, the need for activities that can instill and foster creativity in students is more apparent than ever. Creativity, loosely defined as production of novel and useful ideas, drives all innovations and is intimately linked to the culture. It is plausible that people who are exposed to different cultures possess different content knowledge sets, thus having access to a greater pool of ideas and concepts, which contributes to their creativity significantly. In this spirit, we proposed our project “Mosaic Art: Each Mosaic Has a Story to Tell” in which the timeless mosaic art acts as a bridge for providing a multicultural interaction environment where participants can interact with other cultures to widen their knowledge and enhance their creativity.Mosaic art is a colorful part of the common culture shared throughout the Mediterranean basin and sections of the European continent. They can be found on the walls and domes of mosques, churches, temples and theaters, on the floors of public baths, forums and streets, and in the individual residences of the affluent. With a history going back over four millennia, mosaics have developed into a popular craft and art. Today's artisans and crafters create beautiful works of art in buildings, parks, kitchens, subway stations, and almost everywhere when durability and low maintenance are desired. Mosaics are treasure-troves for inspiring artists, architects, historians, archeologists, sociologists and even mathematicians of the future. To appreciate this fact, it is necessary to examine the evolution of mosaic art in a historical context. This project will take the participants on a journey through the history of mosaics over Anatolia and Europe. The phases of the journey are ordered in chronological order in which the development of the art can be inspected along the political, religious and social issues that have influenced its evolution. Thus, it is not only about mosaic art per se, but also about the development of a common European Culture viewed through the perspective of an enduring form of art. The project is expected to contribute significantly to the knowledge of the participants on mythology, history and sociology as well as their sophistication to appreciate fine arts.""Mosaic Art: Each Mosaic Has a Story to Tell"" is a 2-year project which has been created with the participation and contribution of schools having the same interests and goals from Turkey, Poland, Italy, Portugal, and Romania. The project includes short-term exchanges of groups of pupils with 4 students who are aged between 14-18 and 2 accompanying teachers from each country. The students are supposed to have sufficient command of English and have artistic tendencies. Everything else being equal, priority will be given to the students from lower income groups. At each step, there will be site trips and museum visits. These visits will be followed by a demonstration of the techniques by a local crafter, and completion of the mosaics by the students. Therefore, each partner is expected to bring a different aspect of the mosaic art to the table, regarding artistic content, techniques employed, materials used and historical period involved, through these visits and hands-on work. The teaching will be provided by using brainstorming, conferences, cooperative learning, discussion, think-pair-share activity, visualization, oral explanation and guided exploration strategies. By developing an eTwinning project besides the Erasmus+ one, we aim to provide a partnership through active communication tools and a platform to disseminate our outcomes on all three stages: before, during and after Erasmus +. Local press, school magazines, social media and leaflets will also be used in order to reach a wider audience. We believe that this project will help to improve ICT and language skills of students, as well as teachers.Art does help with the mental, emotional, and psychological development, enhances the sense of creativity and helps to reach someone's full potential. Therefore, dealing with art besides compulsory education paves the way to healthier, happier, more productive and stronger communities, which will form a better world for the next generations. All our partner schools aim to build bridges among our nations, to promote understanding of different cultures, to interact with peers from other countries and to teach adolescents about the development of a common European Culture, viewed through the perspective of an enduring form of art. We believe that working on projects on an international basis adds value to their concrete results and outcomes and provide participants with new opportunities to share and compare knowledge and skills with peers whom they are normally not able to communicate with."

"""We, the people of the world, are responsible for sharing our knowledge and experiences."" says the physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking. This famous saying will be our motto throughout the project. We believe that humans can literally exist if they share what they have. ""Better and Stronger by Sharing Together"" is a project which emphasizes the importance of common ethic values such as sharing, cooperation, tolerance and helpfulness. Our main goal will be contributing to learning and teaching processes of students and teachers of partner schools by means of the project activities related to the topics at which each partner is qualified. We will create real and sincere environments for students, teachers and other stakeholders of the project where they can feel the joy of real acquisition of necessary knowledge. Students will have many opportunities to acquire new knowledge and gain necessary skills, to show and improve their present skills, to express themselves in different ways, to work with their peers from different countries, to know different people and culture, to take part in the preparation of new, creative, supporting, comfortable and sincere activities and learning environments by means of this project. Contributing to their personal development and self-recognition processes is one of our main targets throughout the project. We plan to take at least 72 students and 24 teachers to the project mobilities. Involving as many students and teachers as possible to the project activities and short term exchanges will also be one of our main goals during the project. More than 6300 students and 900 teachers from 4 partner schools will take part in this project somehow. Some will directly take place in preparation and presentation of project activities, some will host guest students and introduce their country and culture, some will help us with taking photos and recording videos during project activities, some will work for making our project more known among people using social media and sharing photographs, videos, documents, etc. related to the project and some will participate in short term exchanges to partner countries. We want our students to work actively and willingly for the project and take responsibilities related to different tasks. We want them to feel themselves as a real part of this partnership and contribute to it as much as they can. We want them to get benefit of project activities related to English, Literature, Geography, P.E., Tourism Sciences, Economics, Ecology and First Aid as much as possible. Students and teachers will prepare activities related to these topics to be regularly held during two years. They will work with their new friends from partner countries for different tasks and this will make them keep their communication with their peers and use their target language skills. By means of this, they will have a new platform to express themselves and use their language skills for various purposes. We intend to reach a wide range of students with different language and academic skills, with different backgrounds and cultures, with different interests and points of views, etc. and bring them together by means of this project for a common purpose. We also want to reach as many stakeholders as possible to such as parents, students and teachers of other schools, local educational authorities and local press, etc. by involving them to appropriate project activities. Partners will prepare common activities to be held all together and also activities to be held locally related to their project topics. The topics chosen by partners are;* Peers working and acquiring together by Turkey related to English, Geography and Literature,* Young people learn from and with each other by Belgium related to Physical Education, English and Literature,* Shaping Learning Experience by Italy related to Tourism Sciences, P.E., Foreign Languages and Economics and*More eco-friendly, more intellectual and more caring together by Poland related to Tourism, Ecology, Literature and First Aid.Guest students and teachers will be applied an expectation questionnaire at the beginning and an evaluation questionnaire at the end of each exchange week. Their responses will be reported and shared with partners and on social media accounts of the project. We will also apply another questionnaire at the beginning of each project year in order to evaluate our development related to our project aims. These results and photographs, videos, reports and documents related to the project will constantly be shared on social media accounts of the project, school websites and other platforms. There will be a continuous communication and equal share of duties among partners during the project. Erasmus+ bulletin boards, corners and streets, exhibitions, video shows, presentations, seminars, etc. will be prepared during the project and a booklet involving all necessary information related to the project at the end."
