CIVIS PLUS,PANCYPRIOS POLITISTIKOS KAI EKPEDEFTIKOS SYNDESMOS EVROPOLITISMOS,Neo Sapiens S.L.U.Funder: European Commission Project Code: 2015-1-EL01-KA204-014053Funder Contribution: 48,410 EURThe current project is an attempt to incorporate non-formal learning methods into the language teaching of adult immigrants. The lack of immigrants / refugees’ communication capacity in the host country's language is a key reason for their isolation and an obstacle to their successful integration into the host country. The partnership organizations are active in the field and their experience has shown that when the teaching is based on only one particular textbook and is performed exclusively by traditional and teacher centered methods is less effective. Non-formal learning can, on the other hand, offer a more innovative and participative learning process that can simultaneously develop a variety of apprentices' skills and competences. In this context, the project was implemented and succeeded in achieving the following objectives:1) Explored through the various activities (workshops, focus groups, meetings and research) the dynamics of non-formal learning in adult learning, and more specifically in language learning.2) Promoted the peer learning among educators in formal and non-formal education, offering them many opportunities to meet, exchange views, ideas and reflections.3) Resulted in 30 practical teaching activities based on non-formal learning methods that can be integrated into language teaching for migrants and in a complete booklet on the topic. 4) Enhanced and will continue to strengthen the capacities of individuals who are active or who wish to be active in language learning as a second language for immigrants on the implementation of non-formal learning activities. The goal was achieved through the creation and free dissemination of the booklet as well as the training seminars that were held later.5) The changes that will incur in the teaching process through the application of the booklet’s content will make the latter in the long run more attractive to the learners and will enrich it with participatory and innovative activities.6) Increased people’s trust for the non-formal learning methods and their effectiveness. The ultimate goal of the project is to improve the sector and better serve the linguistic needs of immigrants that will decisively contribute to their personal development and social integration.During the project a booklet was created that includes original activities based on non-formal learning methods and information on the principles, the character and dynamics of non-formal learning methods as well as rich material for the learning needs and learning profile of adult immigrants. For its creation, various activities such as focus groups, workshops and meetings with educational bodies were held and managed to directly involve the target group in the creation of the booklet. A research, an examination of the above activities’ conclusions and the final drafting of the booklet by the working group followed. Booklet’s presentation sessions as well as training sessions for its proper use were also held. The project implementation was undertaken by 3 organizations from Greece, Spain and Cyprus experienced in language teaching of immigrants / refugees, adult education and non-formal education. The project’s methodology has been based on three main focal points: ongoing dialogue and exchange of information between the working groups, cooperative learning and active participation of the target group in all the activities. The project’s implementation was facilitated by its separation into interconnected working packages, requiring the active involvement of all the partners. Non-formal learning methods were applied to all the activities, (training seminars, focus groups, workshops and multiplier events). The main results of the proposed project is the booklet, the enhanced skills of adult educators and institutions working in the field, increased understanding and cooperation between educators in formal and non-formal education and the more positive attitudes towards non-formal learning methods. These in long term will lead to improvements in adult linguistic learning sector that will be more capable to meet immigrants’ language needs and to create favorable learning conditions for adult immigrants. These will significantly enhance the integration process of this particular social group in society and will help them to improve their everyday life.

In this context, in which the percentage of people over 65 years old keeps on growing, it is important to acknowledge that this age group represents a significant part of the population and, hence, it is a key group from a political and social point of view. The last stage of a person’s life should not be a waiting room for them to sit and watch the years go by. Those years can be active, enriching and lived to the fullest.Adult education associations and institutions have a fantastic opportunity to play a crucial role in that process. A significant number of people pursuing non-formal education are over the age of 60 and, therefore, non-formal education centers hold a unique position to raise awareness regarding health issues among this age group through courses and activities. Since this situation is a problem that concerns Europe as a whole, a strategic association for the exchange of good practices could be a very useful tool to use in order to contribute to a better future for European societies. The main objective of this project is:The development of a guide focused on the exchange of good practices in the promotion of physical, emotional and social health management and awareness among people over the age of 60 from an adult education perspective. This goal is in line with the sustainable development goal 3: ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. Other objectives are:Other objectives: - Knowledge on good practices that promote physical, emotional and social health education. - Prevention of health conditions and early dependence among the elderly as a recognition of the universal value of health. - The improvement of the quality of life of the population over the age of 60.This project is targeted at trainers and educators in the field of adult education, but the outcome of this project would also benefit people over the age of 60 receiving training based on the methodologies resulting from this project and it would also benefit society as a whole by contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of the population. The partners of this project are:- FEUP (Spain) represents the Popular Universities (located in 203 municipalities and 12 autonomous communities in Spain) at a national and international level. The Popular Universities are a project cemented on the promotion of cultural development of society, which seeks to achieve social engagement and enhance lifelong learning as means to improve the quality of life of the population. - KERIGMA (Portugal) is a non-profit organization and its aim is to promote the integrated development of people, of organizations and the community, creating services, solutions and products of excellence that contribute to an active citizenship, solidarity and social cohesion. Oriented by the values of equality and social responsibility, innovation and empowerment of people.- DAFNI KEK (Greece) is a non-profit independent research center for innovation in adult education, while also being a LifeLong Learning Center, certified by EOPPEP (The National Organisation for the Certification of Qualification and Vocational Guidance).- EUROCULTURE (Cyprus) is a non-profit cultural and educational association with a long line of experience in the field of adult education and the promotion of the idea of lifelong learning.Within the project, there will be two transnational meetings to handle all issues regarding project management. The project will also rely on the organisation of three learning, teaching, training activities that will focus on: - Identifying the specific barriers we are facing and combining scientific health-related knowledge with pedagogical strategies, which is a key element for the development of the guide focused of the exchange of good practices. - Identifying good practices aimed to the promotion of health awareness and self-mangement at a physical, emotional and social level, and the prevention of health conditions and early dependence within population over 60 years old. These practices will be included in the guide, which is the main tangible result of the project. - Presenting practical pedagogical experiences linked to the enhancement of physical, mental and social activity, and independence. Each partner will share different methodologies and results achieved by means of those experiences, which will also be included in the guide. The impact we are aiming for is the improvement of the educational and health-care support network for those people that, due to their age, require a more sophisticated and specialised support to enhance their personal development.

In this way the CYT project aims to contribute to the improvement of the level of key competences and skills of young people with fewer opportunities, in particular to the development of their creativity, expression through word and gesture, music and dance. The project partners work closely with organisations in the field of culture, theatre and music performance that wish to facilitate and support the CYT project. The CYT project also aims to promote participation in the hope of a democratic life in Europe, active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, social integration and solidarity. Here the project responds to the horizontal priority of common values, civic engagement and participation. The theatre is a good tool for raising awareness of these issues and making them accessible to a wider audience. The project addresses how young people have been and are confronted with the Covid-19 pandemic, how it affects their lives now and possibly in the future. The CYT proposal fits perfectly within the framework of the EU strategy to involve, connect and empower young people. It will give young people, especially those at risk of social exclusion, a voice and the opportunity to share it with their peers. Theatre can offer young people the opportunity to express themselves and is also a means that can inspire and activate them to take their own responsibility.Theatre offers young people the opportunity to create their own alternative images, to express their own challenges, desires, fears and problems. This is now particularly topical, where young people are also confronted with Covid-19 and the numerous restrictive measures: how do they experience this, how does it affect their lives, how do they try to hold their own within it. Young people are blamed for this often irresponsible behaviour. How do they experience this? And how do they think that the economic consequences will also affect their future? By incorporating this into a theatre performance, they can show the world, their peers, their parents, the community and society what they really are like. The CYT project aims to empower young adolescents by using theatre as a tool to explore social issues. The CYT project also promotes the social engagement of an audience of young adolescents in the participating countries. The CYT project aims at a more active social and political participation of young people in society. In concrete terms, this means that CYT give young people the feeling that they are actually being heard, encourage young people's own initiative and creativity. The first target group is young people (16 -25 years) in general, particularly those linked to the partner organisations and their networks.A second target group are youth workers: they are given methods to use theatre to activate, engage and empower young people. Third target group is the general public. The project should be carried out transnationally in order to compare and share the situation of people in European countries. In this way, CYT creates joint initiatives that stimulate cooperation, peer learning and exchange of experiences among young people at European level, while at the same time raising awareness of common values in a multicultural Europe. In this project we hope to create a situation where young people are able to start discussions among themselves and with a wider audience at local and regional level about how they try to cope with the Covid-19 restrictions. Using theatre is an instrument, both to raise young people's awareness of their situation and to help others understand it. Simultaneously we will offer youth workers methods to use theatre in activating, engaging and empowering young people. Working with theatre methods can be used in informal and non-formal learning processes and is a powerful and attractive instrument, that actives, motivates and challenges young people, even the hard to reach ones. The project realisation will be based on a transnational blended learning mobility, a kind of collective learning process between screenwriters, art directors, young actors and youth workers.During the project we will realise five intellectual outputs:1. handbook for scenario writing including 5 screenplays2. set of videos including the theatre performances and the discussions afterwards3. two discussion movies4. methodology working with theatre for youth work5. guidelines for a dialogue with the audienceAt the end of the project there will be 5 multiplier events, in each partner country one, to show the results to a wider audience and for further dissemination. After the completion of the project, the stage performances can also be performed at various locations at a later date. The videos and movies will find an audience on YouTube. The methodology developed can be used in youth work and within youth organisations.

The general aim of the project was to search – in a European cooperation – for appropriate solutions to enhance the more successful social and labour market integration of people with reduced working abilities. The basics of the partnership was provided by the fact that in the partner organisations’ countries the low level of employment and access to trainings as regards people with reduced working capacities was a constant problem, at the same time every partner applies good practices for handling the problem, which can be adapted in the partner countries therefore learning from each other helps accomplishing the project aims. In the project a Cypriot non-profit education and cultural institution, a Czech training and counselling organisation, a Spanish reference training institution, an Estonian interest representative and counselling and a Hungarian employment organisation worked together. To ensure the successful implementation of the project, the partners conducted a situation survey to examine what factors are the barriers of employment, and organised 2-day international meetings in each participating country, during which the methods, best practices applied at the partner organisations for counselling services, motivating the target group, involving them into trainings and helping them in the access to acquiring a vocational qualification were introduced. The most important results of the common work for the Hungarian, Cypriot, Czech, Estonian and Spanish partnership implementing the project have been summarised and published in the Brochure of Best Practices. The partner organisations are presented, a brief overview is provided about the labour market situation of people with reduced working capacities in the partner countries, 2 best practices/labour market programmes per country are presented, which contribute to raising the target group’s motivation towards learning, to helping them acquire new vocational qualifications and become employed. As a closing conclusion such initiatives are described and referred to that are applied and organised in the partner countries to promote the social integration and sensitisation of the target group. Furthermore, a Recommendation has been created in each country for professionals dealing with guidance counselling, prior knowledge measurement and assessment, professionals dealing with organising and implementing trainings and programmes enhancing employment and working at employers in workplace integration jobs and organisations and professionals dealing with social acceptance and sensitisation.
