Based on the MobiliTez-Vous survey conducted in 2019, ESN France was able to highlight certain obstacles to mobility among the responses of the 3,084 young people who had not gone abroad: 88% of them do not feel sufficiently or not at all informed about existing mobility programmes. Access to information is therefore essential when it comes to international mobility. This is why informing young people as soon as they enter high school or training center (We will refer here to secondary schools or apprentice training centres that are part of the secondary education system. It is therefore essential for each country to set its own target audience within the framework defined below: young people in secondary education of the lycée or training centre type). Indeed, these issues also affect pupils from all types of secondary schools (general, technological, vocational and training centres); better informing pupils of their possibilities will boost international mobility and include more young people in this scheme. The new 2021-2027 programme emphasises the inclusion of those who are far from mobility or have fewer opportunities. Including students from all backgrounds (high school students and apprentices with disabilities, high school students and apprentices from priority urban neighbourhoods) makes sense in ESN France's work to raise awareness about mobility. International mobility has become an essential part of a solid academic and professional curriculum. The Erasmus in Schools project aims to provide information on the various international mobility schemes available at the time of the interventions, but also enables these different audiences to anticipate possible mobility. The aim is to show that a young person can choose to go on a mobility trip regardless of financial, time or geographical problems, provided that he or she has the right information and is accompanied. It is by allowing the dissemination of this information through inclusive tools that take into account the diversity of young people that the project will achieve its objectives. The beneficiaries of the project are: young ambassadors, high school students and apprentices. Each target group has specific needs. For the young ambassadors, it is a question of learning to testify about their mobility and to learn how to run an Erasmus in schools according to the type of school in which they intervene. Indeed, to date, young people who have returned from mobility and who intervene in schools are not always trained, which seems necessary for a quality intervention. In terms of impact, it is therefore essential to train these young people to set up qualitative and adequate interventions according to the public of high school students or apprentices. It also allows these young ambassadors to increase their skills and to be aware of the issues of European citizenship and interculturality. The project also responds to their needs thanks to the creation of pedagogical tools created during the project, in particular the Erasmus in schools guide. For high school students and apprentices, again thanks to the creation of tools (the international mobility passport) and the EiS interventions, it is a question of informing them about the various international mobility opportunities available to them.<< Objectives >>General objective To raise awareness regarding European mobility from the age of 14-15 Specific objectivesTo propose adapted tools to inform each young person in secondary school or training centre about the different international mobility schemes. To help these students to better undertake international mobility Reduce the social and institutional obstacles at the initial stage of mobility Enable these students to understand the added value of a european mobility in their academic and professional curriculum. Train and equip young ambassadors to raise awareness of international mobility in secondary schools and training centres to encourage mutual aid between peers. Knowing how to testify about one's international mobilityEnhance the value of one's own mobility experience Know how to transmit information about the different types of mobilityKnow how to adapt your speech to the type of audience<< Implementation >>The transnational meetings are key stages of the project because they allow the validation and follow-up of the project's stages the co-construction of the project results concerted decision making concerning the evaluation of the tasks carried out and results and the management and resolution of crises (unforeseen events, difficulties and delays)4 transnational meetings are planned during this project:April 2022, in Madrid (M2) - organised by ESN SpainNovember 2022, in Brussels (M9) - organised by OBESSUFebruary 2023, in Paris (M12) - organised by Euro App MobilityMarch 2024 in Lille (M24) - organised by ESN FranceFurther consortium meetings (via Google Meet or Skype) are organised at regular intervals, in line with the project's milestones:June 2022 (M4) to ensure the proper administrative launch of the project and to launch R2September 2022 (M7) to review the progress of the research and launch R3 and to ensure good communication between all partners. May 2023 (M15) to provide feedback on E2 and coordinate the organisation of the training course organised in July 2023. October 2023 (M20) to conclude the preparation of the third dissemination event, review the progress of R2 V2 and start the preparation of E4 scheduled for March 2024.The activities that allow to reach the project's results: the implementation of quantitative questionnaires, the realisation of focus groups, the planning of Erasmus in schools interventions, the creation of the mobility passport and other awareness raising materials on mobility, the creation of the Erasmus in Schools guide through working meetings between partners but also thanks to the youth committee that allows the co-construction of these tools as well as the strategic committee made up of the associated partners The training also allows the objectives set beforehand to be achieved. This 4-day training will be organised by ESN Spain, which already has expertise in organising similar training sessions. This learning activity is necessary and provides significant added value to the project for several reasons. The trained individuals will be able to accompany and train young people involved in their network in the implementation of Erasmus in Schools interventions. Finally, the communication activities are mainly the dissemination events. The first dissemination event is organised by OBESSU at the end of the first year of the project for the associated partners and other structures to get acquainted with results 1 and 2. The second dissemination event, organised by EAM, is held in April 2023 in Paris. The French version of the awareness-raising kit (R2) and the memento translated into several languages (R3) will be available and ready for dissemination. A reminder will also be given of the research (R1). The mobility of apprentices as a specific public with their own obstacles to mobility (in addition to the obstacles shared by all young people) will be given high visibility. The third dissemination event, organised by ESN Spain, will take place in October 2023 in Paris during the Erasmus Days. The Spanish version of the awareness-raising kit (R2), the memento translated into several languages (R3) as well as the 1st version of the Erasmus in Schools Guide (R4) will be available and ready for dissemination. A reminder will also be given of the research (R1). High visibility will be given to the mobility of high school students. Finally, the final conference will aim to promote the completed project to national and European associative and institutional partners. This meeting will gather 20 national and 20 international participants and will be organised by ESN France. It will take place in March 2024 in Lille.<< Results >>R1. Research on secondary school students' knowledge and interest in international mobilityThrough this study, the consortium wishes to broaden its knowledge of another public: secondary school students and apprentices. This research, coordinated by Obessu, will therefore allow for a better understanding of the process of reflection of young secondary school students with regard to a possible mobility, to understand their needs in terms of information, educational support and tools, depending on the profiles of the young people and the mobility formats. It is a question of understanding where the students stand when it comes to mobility, are they interested, do they understand the stakes and the benefits of international mobility? R2. Mobility awareness kit for secondary school students and apprenticesCreation of an awareness-raising kit: Propose and make accessible a support adapted by country taking into account the different ways of accessing mobility according to the country and the level of study, then distribute it in the places of interest of the targets concerned and on social networks. We are targeting young secondary school students and apprentices, so the channels used will be Fairs, CDI, civic education classes, information and guidance centres, school life, workshops, press, social networks (to be adapted according to the partner countries). The creation of a mobility passport to inform young people of opportunities. Each partner will create an international mobility passport listing the mobility programmes available in their country. These documents will be used as educational tools by the speakers.R3. Memento on the added value of peer-to-peer interventions in schoolsCreation of a document that would promote the intervention of associations and young people to raise awareness of international mobility, to be reused in preparation for the EiS, aimed at secondary schools/training centres and the public institutions that run the secondary schools and training centres. Each partner structure that has already carried out awareness-raising interventions on mobility will participate in the drafting of the document. In order to produce this document, the partners EuroAppMobility, ESN France and ESN Spain will organise focus groups with people who have already participated in or attended mobility awareness-raising interventions in schoolsR4. Erasmus in Schools GuideCreation of an Erasmus in Schools guide to help young people prepare their interventions in secondary schools. The information contained will be as follows: How to set up an EiS intervention? How to prepare an intervention beforehand? How to define the objectives of an EiS intervention? What posture to adopt during an intervention and what activities to deploy? What to do after the intervention? How to carry out the assessment? This guide will be used during the phase of close accompaniment of the beneficiaries in the implementation of Erasmus in Schools. Creation of working groups of beneficiaries for this close accompaniment and at the end this group produces a summary note on the lessons learned from the project → start of evaluation and impact measurement. The expected results of the project revolve around three axes: Training and equipping of young ambassadors for the implementation of Erasmus in Schools interventions in high schools and training centresAccess to information on international mobility for high school students and apprentices Stronger cooperation between youth structures and schools such as high schools and training centres

In parallel, the European population, particularly the elders, is suffering from an increasing loneliness and isolation feeling. The European project Toit+Moi fits perfectly with this adaptation need: it aims at widening and amplifying a pilot version of a shared intercultural and intergenerational housing platform developed by the consortium partners since 2017.Main goal of the project:Taking part in the strengthening of the students’ mobility stakeholders by providing a shared housing and intergenerational connection service in Europe. Specific objectives:>>Strengthen the proximity partnerships between higher education institutions and intergenerational and intercultural integration and housing structures-Gathering a precise knowledge and overview, providing tools and encouraging collaborations-Promoting, highlighting and boosting these collaborations for a better recognition and acknowledgment of their added value in public policies, at a local, national and international scale-Encourage the university social responsibility regarding their role and involvement in the community life (ease the elders’ loneliness and isolation)>>Improve the mobility students welcome with an affordable and educative housing service.Reducing the mobility students’ financial obstacles to housing.Improving the access to a quality housing solution, prior to the mobility.Improving the international students’ integration in the local community to avoid the “Erasmus Bubble”.Impulse the civic and social skills acquisition of international students in a multicultural and intergenerational environment (learning languages and discovering new cultures)Target groups-mobility students in their diversity (scholarships, trainees, students with disabilities-higher education institutions and shared housing and integration platform-public structures that influence the law and policies implemented within the higher education frameWith a European network of universities (European University Foundation), a French network of international students integration organisations (ESN France), a French network of intergenerational shared housing (CoSI-Cohabitation Solidaire Intergénérationnelle), a Spanish organisation (Solidarios) that implemented more than 3000 intergenerational shared housing pairs, a Belgian organisation (1Toit2Ages) with more than 2000 pairs locally, and the French national pensions coordinator (CNAV), we collectively develop these activities:Two studies mapping the links between universities and intergenerational and intercultural links stakeholders, in different national, political and juridical contexts, and analysing levers for a better development of these links.·An intergenerational and intercultural links memento, listing structures and practices available locally and showing their impact·A training and its kit, providing tools to stakeholders for better practices, helping new structures·A recommendations booklet, to impulse policies toward a greater development of intergenerational and intercultural linksEventually, Toit+Moi will have the following impact:·22 countries reached by the deliverables, 150 new structures involved·40000+ persons reached about the project via social medias· 500+ monthly visits on the platform, 2000+ registrationsThus, this project will reach numerous students and favour a quality welcome by providing an innovative support. This tool will disseminate durably in the international mobility frame as Toit+Moi will be the connection of collaborations from universities and structures integrating seniors and mobility students. By linking structures with complementary actions, the project will disseminate easily in Europe. ESN France will be supported by a network of 520+ pan-european organisations, and 700+ universities thanks to its partners.Toit+Moi is a project federating international mobility, intergenerational, intercultural structures in Europe, that strengthen international mobility on one side, internationalise the daily life on the other: two essential aspects when witnessing a European tendency toward nationalism. Faced with this crucial concern, it will encourage intercultural exchanges and impulse a European citizenship.

Following that lead, the Buddy System consortium has developed a project to improve the welcoming of international students, all around Europe. To reach this goal, the Buddy System project has created tools to facilitate the qualitative and massive pairing systems for higher education institutions and international students welcome associations in Europe. When matched, an international student can benefit from a personalised welcome, having a privileged contact with his/her mentor to get support during his/her mobility. The BuddySystem’s objectives were the following:- To improve the welcoming of students going on an international mobility through a technological tool (web-platform) with a matching system for HEIs and associations.- To develop the internationalization of campuses and local students, while easing interactions, open mindedness and a mutual understanding, thus developing a European citizenship.- To strengthen structures welcoming international students (HEIs and associations) and allow them to develop long-lasting relationships between students, through common teaching tools. The consortium’s achievements in that sense are the following:- the creation of the BuddySystem platform, allowing local students to meet and welcome international students during their exchange as well as being a shared tool for HEIs and associations to collaborate on the pairing coordination.- the gradual integration of the Erasmus+ app from the European Commission, which gives a great visibility and legitimacy to this pairing tool, and highlights it as an essential step for every mobility.- the research that was implemented on existing European BuddySystems in order to provide an updated and extensive analysis on that topic and to be able to produce reliable teaching tools towards universities and associations welcoming international students.- the creation of training, engagement and communication tools and the development of a network of trainers and local coordinators, who will conduct a sustainable dissemination of the project. In December 2020, more than 65 540 persons have registered on the platform, with 15 active countries, 157 nationalities represented, 148 languages spoken, and 23 HEIs (campuses and faculties not included) and 85 student associations collaborating on the pairing of students. This project has reached a large number of students while favoring a quality welcoming since it allows international students to receive an unique guidance: personalised and customised to their needs. The Buddy System platform has settled as an essential tool within the international mobility practices, since the implementation of the BuddySystem has resulted from the cooperative work of universities and associations welcoming international students. Awaited by several structures welcoming international students, that project has quickly disseminated in Europe. To do so, ESN France was able to rely on its network which includes 525 pan-European associations andon its partners’ with their 700 universities network.Thereby, 20 dissemination activities have been organised (among which, 3 webinars), reaching directly 1976 students, associations representatives and HEIs personnels; newsletters were sent to 60 389 persons from the target groups, and a final communication campaign enabled the French National Education Minister to highlight the Buddy Systemwhile welcoming students back to school in September 2020. The BuddySystem is a federating project between structures supporting international mobility in Europe. It helps students seize intercultural opportunities surrounding them, allowing them to optimise their mobility and for others to internationalise their everyday life: two midpoints when Europe is currently inclined towards an identitarian closure. Facing that fundamental concern, the BuddySystem project has favored intercultural exchange and thus raised awareness among participants toward a sense of European citizenship and more links between communities.

According to a study made by Synlab in May 2020, one out of five pupils is at risk of school dropout. Those numbers are even worse for pupils in priority education zones and for pupils with disabilities. Les Jeunes Européens – France, JEF Sweden, IxESN France, Starting Block, ARFIE and CADIAI want to address the challenge of the 2.0 European civic education and therefore to continue to raise awareness on European citizenship even during the Covid-19 crisis, and more broadly to adapt pedagogical methods to the digital era. “AccessiblEU” aims to give to the educational institutions of the 27 Member States of the European Union the tools to be able teaching European civic education thanks to the digital, and therefore adapt their techniques for digital education, online or for distance education. From May 2021 to April 2023, this project will aim to make the European civic education more inclusive and accessible for everyone. Indeed, 60% of European citizens feel misinformed about the European Union (Eurobarometer - November 2019). This number is increasing by 4 points in comparison with the previous year. Thanks to digital methods, this project aims to create resources, tools and pedagogical methods adapted to every European citizen, and mostly to those who feel far from European citizenship, by lifting information accessibility and EU education constraints. In this framework, several target audiences have been identified: - Teachers and educational staff of the scholar education who are often powerless to speak about European citizenship with digital methods.- People with disabilities : pupils with disabilities are those who had the most difficulties to follow online education and especially during the lockdown period. - Pupils who want to go for a European mobility (Erasmus+, European Solidarity Corps, etc.) which were and still are prevented because of the Covid-19 crisis. As a matter of fact, according to a study made by the European Commission in July 2020, 3 on 4 participants declared that their mobility was affected by the current sanitary crisis. This project aims to lift constraints upon digital European education by the creation of intellectual productions which would reinforce digital competences of teachers and educational staff in this field. These intellectual productions will be:- Train-the-trainers modules on European civic education, for distance or online learning: these modules will give teachers and educational staff digital “turnkey solutions” resources (videos, contents, educational tools,...) adapted to each educational level (middle school, high school,...) and to train teachers and educational staff to use these tools (ie. how to host and moderate an European Parliament simulation).- Pedagogical resources adapted for pupils with disabilities who suffer from a double alienation because of the “digital divide” and their disabilities. Based on European Commission roadmap for the EU Strategy on the rights of persons with disabilities 2021-2030, this project will draw from leading countries on inclusion of people with disabilities, and from know-how of associations working on inclusive education. It will then provide us with expertise to create suitable and inclusive pedagogical tools adapted for disabilities. - A serious game about European mobility: this digital resource will facilitate the European mobility awareness by proposing to the pupils to live an experience of mobility thanks to virtual reality. Based on European mobility opportunities (Erasmus+, European Solidarity Corps...), this serious game aims to make more visible and accessible international and European mobility. It also aims to raise the desire to participate in the Erasmus+ program. These intellectual productions will be created thanks to the expertise of specialized associations on these topics. They will be experimented throughout the project in educational institution partners of the project in different European countries. Each digital pedagogical resource, tool and content will be freely accessible on an online platform, available in English, French, Swedish and Italian. Some train-the-trainer sessions will be organized in each partner country to share with teachers and educational staff all these intellectual productions and teach how to use them. These teachers and education staff will then be able to host pedagogical interventions on European citizenship using digital tools, and will therefore perpetuate the results of this project.
