We saw the target audience for the project as people who might have good intentions and are generally open to the subject but are not accustomed to reflect about such issues and need a different kind of access to the topic of discrimination in society and people who are open to the subject but don't think they need to attend such workshops on account of them regarding themselves as ""aware"" enough. We wanted to introduce this group to the topic via creative workshops using theatre, Participatory Video, and social media. Additionally, we saw the potential that is inherent in these three creative areas to engage with topics like identity, community, and communication. They offer great opportunities for participants to reflect on their own perceptions, stereotypes, and biases.Another observation in the field of anti-discrimination work was also the often times neglected question of evaluation of such workshops. With this project we also wanted to address this gap by proposing creative tools for evaluation of such workshops.<< Objectives >>We wanted to create innovative workshop formats targeted at the audience mentioned above (people who are open the the subject of anti-discrimination but would not attend traditional anti-discrimination trainings). We designed and implemented workshops using theatre, participatory video, and social media that introduced the participants to (self)reflection and critical thinking through artistic means. The linking of artistic methods and anti-discrimination work can benefit both the anti-discrimination field and the arts themselves. Traditional anti-discrimination work gains broadens the array of tools to engage even people who would otherwise not be interested in anti-discrimination trainings. And the fields of theatre participatory video, and social media can deepen their methods by inclusion of questions and matters concerning anti-discrimination. The knowledge from the creation of the workshop formats are compiled in toolkits for educators and trainers. Three toolkits guide through the realization of theatre, Participatory Video, and social media workshops for anti-discrimination. A fourth toolkit gives theoretical insight into evaluation and its aims, and practical tools for short and long-term evaluation.<< Implementation >>Throughout the project, 3 pilot workshops on ""Participatory Video against discrimination"", 4 pilot workshops ""Theatre against discrimination"", and 3 pilot workshops on ""Social Media against discrimination"" were implemented. The knowledge and experiences of these pilot workshops were constitutive for the contents of the four toolkits that were produced during the project. Tools that were included in the toolkit ""Evaluation in the context of anti-discrimination work"" were largely tested during the aforementioned pilot workshops. To disseminate the toolkits, 8 multiplier events were organised in the four participating countries. The cooperation within the partnership was solidified in two in-person transnational partner meetings. and one online partner meeting, which partly had the character of a joint staff meeting. The other 2 transnational partner meetings could not take place due to Covid-19 restrictions that affected the entire project throughout its course.<< Results >>The project produced 10 pilot workshops on theatre, participatory vide0, and social media and accompanying toolkits that enable trainers, educators, art mediators etc. to implement creative workshops against discrimination based on these methodologies. Furthermore, a fourth toolkit is available with creative short and long-term evaluation tools to be able to assess the success and effects of these workshops. The toolkits are available in 6 languages (English, German, Italian, Hungarian, Spanish, Basque) PDF on the project website and on the European Results Platform. A printed compendium that combines parts of all 4 toolkits in a printed handbook is available in limited numbers. The project website is the hub where interested people can find introductory texts on the potential of art and creative workshops in anti-discrimination work and can download all toolkits. The website is translated into the 6 languages represented in the project. Additonally, 6 blogposts in English offer more content and extra insights in to the matters dealt with in the project. To share the results with a larger community, a blogpost on EPALE indroducing the results has been published, albeit after the end of the project."

RACISMO GIPUZKOA ASOCIACION,ARCIFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2018-1-FR01-KA201-048117Funder Contribution: 220,749 EUR"Recent surveys show that the use of digital technologies by the world's population is increasing exponentially, especially among the ""digital natives"" generation. The Covid-19 crisis has also led to a further increase in the use of digital technology, particularly in schools. Furthermore, the online circulation of fake news and conspiracy theories underlines the link between digital technology and issues of citizenship, protection of democracy, public health and social justice... Thus, media and information literacy emphasises values (European, human rights...) and thoughtful uses. The consortium of the European project ""e-Media: Media literacy and Digital citizenship for All"" believes that it is important to educate young citizens in the use of technology, internet and social media so that they can use them responsibly. The objectives of this project were to1) To introduce young people to the processes of information making, so that they can be creative and responsible actors. 2) To educate in computer science and raise awareness of the algorithmic logic behind all the tools we use, in order to take power over the machines.3) Reveal the motivations of conspiracy and fake news to enable the emergence of a generation of critical citizens. 4) To promote the integration of digital skills in school curricula and to foster critical thinking, especially through the teaching of technology and science, in line with the priorities of school education. In order to achieve these objectives, our project aimed at a target audience consisting of teachers in secondary schools, all disciplines, as well as the educational community as a whole (educators and parents). We produced three educational booklets:- The first one is about robotics. It aims to help students better understand how the world works, as almost everything in our society is programmed, from our coffee machine to our lift. We think that robotics is a fun way to talk about computer language, data processing and algorithms. - The second is dedicated to media literacy. It aims to help teachers work with students on how to better use the internet, social media, and understand how to fight fake news and conspiracy theories. - The third one is dedicated to online expression, and more specifically to web radio, blogs and web TV. We offer activities to teach young people to produce their own information. We have also produced two moocs. These include a set of videos and activities aimed at fostering the appropriation of the themes covered in the first two booklets: robotics and media literacy. All these resources are available in English, French, Latvian, Italian and Spanish. Tutors have also taken part in training courses in France, Spain and Italy, and will be able to accompany teachers who participate in the moocs. The resources made available will allow teachers, and the educational community as a whole, to develop the necessary skills and competences to approach media literacy with their students and thus teach them to use digital media in a critical and responsible way."

This survey, also highlights, that Europeans tend to overestimate the number of non-EU immigrants present in Europe. In 19 of the EU member-States, the estimated proportion of non-EU immigrants among the population is at least twice the size of the actual proportion. Such results reflect the lack of access, on a European scale, to information on migrations within the European Union. In 2018, to address the issues pointed out by this Eurobarometer survey, e-graine’s movement of associations has launched a national cooperative program of education on migrations: One World Citizen, whose goal is to deconstruct stereotypes and misconceptions on migrations. The issue of migrations to and within the EU appears to be one of the challenges the EU and the Europeans will have to face tomorrow. European citizenship implies that European youth grasp and question these matters.<< Objectives >>e-graine wishes to go one step further in the education on migrations by initiating the implementation of a European program of popular education on the issues related to migrations and their management. Earlier projects have sparked collaborations between the associations e-graine and Res Publica. Supported by the OECD, both organisations have dreamt of a pedagogical project aiming to tackle the understanding of and the questions surrounding the European migration policy. Through the development of 17-to-23-year-old young people’s critical minds, our project aspires to promote their autonomy from the instrumentalisation of questions related to migrations, a phenomenon that plagues the public debate. It helps strengthen the general level of knowledge, enhances the democratic debate, and reinforces young Europeans’ citizenship. By teaching European young people and youth workers the European migration policy founding principles, whether the latter are ethical, economic, or political, and the mechanisms that bring it into being today, we hope to contribute to the elimination of discriminatory practices (Sustainable Development Goal 10.3). By bringing the weight and thus the normalcy of migrations to light, the project aims to ensure migrants equal opportunities, whether they migrate from, to, or through Europe. Equipping European young people and youth workers with true knowledge on European migrations and therefore highlighting migrants' rights can favour their integration within the European community and the national societies that it is composed of.<< Implementation >>In practice, the project is based on the creation of multimedia pedagogical packages by combining scientific expertise and pedagogical engineering from the popular education field. Through the use of popular education tools, this association should enhance the transmission of high scientific value information produced by skilled researchers. This project is based on scientificity, objectivity and pedagogy, to ensure it can benefit the greatest number of people in several member-States. Intellectual outputs will thus be adjusted to answer young Europeans’ questionings and will be backed by easy-to-understand yet based on scientific data materials. These productions will heighten the understanding of European migration policy through the exploration of five themes:1. What is the European migration policy?2. What is the Schengen area? 3. Which European asylum policy? 4. Who decides on the European asylum and immigration policy? 5. European demography and migrations in Europe<< Results >>Therefore, e-graine is leading a cooperative project, conceived with our European partners to be innovative both in its approach and its expected results. Six partners are gathered to design and implement this project. They are European organisations from the non-formal education field and the scientific research field. The project lies on the creation of 4 thematic pedagogical packages, each one composed of 4 videos, 1 leaflet, and 1 pedagogical workshop. All of these will be translated into 5 languages (English, French, Spanish, Italian, Greek). A training course will be conducted with youth workers, so as to ensure they become acquainted with and master the pedagogical packages, thus guarantying a better outreach within the concerned territories. This course will be offered to two target groups to multiply the produced tools’ impact: - Firstly, youth workers from the project’s partnering organisations- Then, European actors wishing to master the created tools Once the training courses will have taken place, 32 youth workers will have had the benefit of enhancing their skills. In addition, the training course will be adjusted to fit with the civic and citizenship training course requirements, a training program offered to young people enrolled in a civic service in France. It will then be offered to young people enrolled in the European Solidarity Corps to multiply the project’s impact and durability. Alongside these training courses, each project’s partner will facilitate workshops with young people from diverse backgrounds (school dropouts, students, living in rural areas or priority neighbourhoods), enabling the project to reach 734 youngsters in total. Moreover, the video capsules will be listed on the DIGITEKA video platform, on which, the project “Migrations en questions” (“Questioning Migrations”) videos, have summed up 2 million views over the past couple of years. At the end of the project, the training course will have been added to e-graine’s training agency’s catalogue. This training body benefits from over 15 years of experience in pedagogical engineering and is aims to reach the French education actors willing to address the issues that tomorrow’s professional world will have to face.To finish off the project, partners will invite 25 young Europeans to take part in a virtual meeting and to share their thoughts and comments on the project which may have sparked thanks to the project. Furthermore, a member of the Erasmus + agency will introduce the young attendees to the possibilities the program offers in order to inspire them to participate in the European democratic life. They will then be helped in writing and structuring a second European project. This project’s aim will be to enable them to coin a shared position statement towards European political decision-makers. Therefore, e-graine’s Union of associations will work to develop transnational mobility activities and plans to apply for an accreditation soon.
