It is a cooperation between secondary schools in Finland (EdupoliPointCollege Oy), Greece (Second Epal Galatsiou), Italy (ITES “Vitale Giordano”) and Denmark (Holbæk 10. klassecenter). The project is coordinated by Denmark. This project is founded on the background of the fact that social inclusion is a key priority in the Europe 2020 Strategy. The target in this is to lift at least 20 million people out of risk of poverty and social exclusion. Nowadays, many schools in Europe have significant percentages of migrant populations. Some of the students tend to form nation-based groups, separating themselves from the rest of the class and communicating exclusively in their parents’ native languages. The result is a lack of understanding, increased numbers of early school leavers, disparities in learning outcomes and discrimination. Additionally, Europe and students in European countries will be confronted with a rising number of refugees and asylum seekers. The question of integration in Europe is more important than ever before. Politics is trying to find an ideal solution and establish a reliable framework to succeed in it. However, the integration possibilities that the government can offer are limited. Integration starts at lower levels with people’s awareness of other cultures and different needs. Therefore, it is essential to focus on the topic of diversity. By choosing the priority inclusive education, training and youth we want to confront all of our students with different cultures in innovative and learner-centered pedagogical approaches and address this topic. The aim is to provide opportunities for experiencing the concept of European citizenship and to foster learners with different or sometimes disadvantages cultural backgrounds. The most important objectives of this project, is to gain a greater understanding and responsiveness to social, ethnic, linguistic and cultural diversity. We want to share policies and systems in education, training and youth across countries, to better understand practices. We also aim to bring a more positive attitude towards the European project and the EU values and an increased motivation and satisfaction in daily work. The project primarily involves teachers, native students and students with another ethnical background. Secondly it involves other staff, parents and stakeholders and also EU institutional representatives. Around 100 students from each school will somehow be involved in the project. Some will participate on the mobilities and some will participate in surveys and questionnaires and other activities at school. 2 teachers from each school will visit the EU Institutions at the beginning of the project. This will be a set off and visits to both the Parliarment and the Commission to meet relevant representatives, are planned. There will be 4 LTT meetings with 5 students and 2 teachers from each school. As this project involves refugees and migrants, hosting will partly take place at hostels or other accommodation. For each meeting, we will have these activities planned:- A debate among students.- A presentation on research done during the period previous to the meeting- Visit to a stakeholder of relevance - eg. museum, refugee camp or asylum centre- Workshops among students, attendance to classes, language exchange and knowledge of the educational system.- Cultural visits to relevant places in the country. The aim is to appreciate and compare the different countries- Monitoring meeting of teachersOur main results we will be: - a board game for our schools in the future. The game can be used in classes all over Europe- a logo of the project;- a website in which all the activities of the meetings will be uploaded- a poster for each LLT meeting- Portfolios for the students- surveys on the different topicsLong term benefits- The boardgame, which is the main result, will be used by teachers in the schools. Not only teachers participating in this project, but it will also be free to be used by others in the years to come. If possible, the game will be digitalized and distributed to other schools. This way many more students and teachers can benefit from our project. A leaflet on the game will be uploaded on our website and also distributed to other schools, for promoting the boardgame.- The project website will be accessible for 3 years after finishing the project. We will save some grant for managing this.- Schools will strengthen their European identity according to their European Development Plan- Teachers will create and form better international partnerships in the future, as of the experience they have gained from this project- Students will hopefully have gained self esteem and more secure in their new country's society- A network among the students will help them to keep contact and get in touch in the future. Some friendships last forever.

A topic that has led to many changes in people's lives. The new Coronavirus spread quickly from China to Europe and the rest of the world. Almost 5 million people in Europe are or have been infected. During spring it led to the lockdown of most countries. Borders closed and all of a sudden, society closed as well. Restaurants, cafés, museums, art galleries, sports facilities, schools... The world went online. As teachers we had to get used to virtual classrooms. We saw many students having difficult times adjusting to this new virtual life. Some got very lonely, while others found peace. Today we are facing, what is probably a second wave and some countries are beginning to lock down again. With this project we want to arise awareness of both the difficulties our students have dealt with, but also what makes us stronger. Through creative thinking we want to put transnational cooperation and teamwork in front. We have gathered a team of schools with different profiles from north to south, east to west. Participating countries are: Turkey, Spain, Germany, Norway and Denmark. The project will focus on 5 topics:1) music's influence on young people2) How to live with a pandemic3) Young people's relation to health and wellbeing4) Expressing yourself through painting and art creation5) The future after covid-19Students, participating in this project, are between 15 and 18 years old. During the 2 years, around 800 students and 50 teachers will participate at some point. About 125 students and teachers will participate in Learning/Teaching/Training activities, of which there will be 5. At Transnational Project Meetings, 3-4 teachers are represented from each country at each meeting. It is important for the project that the schools are placed in different areas and are addressed to a large variety of different social layers, because we want our project to be based on diversity.Students are going to work with: Debating, surveys, interviews, blogs/vlogs, filming, writing materials, art work, music, sports activities, presentations and much more. Some activities will be formed along the way.Main objectives:- reinforce cross-sectoral cooperation with experts in the fields of creativity, and cultural awareness.- develop students’ creative thinking, decision making and conflict resolution skills.- enhance greater understanding and responsiveness to social, ethnic, linguistic and cultural diversity- increase motivation and satisfaction in daily work- increase cooperation between students in an international scope- foster a willingness among students to include everybody through art and sports- Lifelong learning- create synergies between schools and organisations from other fields- promote a greater sense of European identityMethodologiesThe project will work with different methodologies, depending on the task or activity. Here are some:Learning-by-doing, Cooperative learning, Research, Direct instructions, Game-based learning, Virtual learning and Debating.ResultsOur main result of the project is a documentary by students - to students. The film will be the final product of 2 years’ work. We are following different young people on their thoughts on lockdown and the life after. We will see how they deal with this new situation in their everyday lives and also how they express themselves through creativity. Other results:Project song and music video - we will write lyrics and music for our own song and at one mobility we will produce a music video for it.Project group painting - so students can cooperate across borders and express themselves with colours.Posters and leaflets/postcards on the documentary/projectTrailer of the documentarySurveys on the students’ knowledge/opinion on cultural, creative aspects of art and healthIndividual art to express the reactions to covid-19 Website to upload the resultsProject logo Impact on participantsKnowledge on educational possibilities within creativity, culture and healthKnowledge on different cultures of participating countriesKnowledge on different creative expressions Knowledge on health and wellbeingHands-on skills will be developedDevelop learning skills such as decision making, project management, teamwork and ICTStudents will increase their competences in the English languageStudents will increase their cooperation in an international scope. They will know what Erasmus+ is.Students will become more willing to include fellow students and other young people through art and sportsAwareness on educational possibilities in the cultural sectorIncreased motivation and satisfaction in daily workPotential longer term benefitsFirstly Lifelong Learning. Secondly, during the period schools will have new tools to handle another pandemic in the future. All stakeholders should have gained more interest in working across borders in new contexts.

The students will carry out research on life quality in the partner countries: Turkey, Croatia, Czech Republic, Italy, Portugal and Denmark. By comparing the different regions in the EU, they will discover the different life values. Participants are all schools with different profiles, but all students are about the same age, 15-18. About 60 teachers will be involved in the project at some point. Around 1000 students will participate - some directly and some indirectly e.g. by answering surveys.. 216 students and teachers will participate at the Learning/training/teaching activities of which there will be 6. At transnational meetings there are 2 teachers represented from each country. It is important for the project that the schools are placed in different areas and are addressed to a large variety of different social layers. The working language of the project is English, which will enable the students to widen their language abilities and gain fluency in using a foreign language in real situations. The most important thing in this international project, is to motivate and enable students to find positive values in getting a Good Life. The project has 4 important aspects: European citizenship (within culture and traditions as well as education and job possibilities), Inclusion (refugees/migrants/disabled/social vulnerable), Health (what is a healthy lifestyle and why is it important) and Friendships across borders (spare time, sports, social medias). Our final products will be:1) An OER website, where teachers all over Europe can find interviews, articles, photos, and lesson plans freely to be used in classes. The website will be sustainable for at least 3 years after the end of the project. The idea is to inspire teachers in Europe to deal with the topics of A Good Life, in order to prevent early school leave. The website will contain:- Lessonplans (created both at each individual school and at international meetings)- Articles (written by the students on the topics and overall on A BETTER LIFE)- Interviews (with teachers, students and stakeholders)- Surveys and questionnaires (on the topics)- vlogs (short films made by mobile devices)- Art work (created by students to show another kind of expression to what A BETTER LIFE means to them)- Filmmaking - Stories (by students who might have gone through tough times, and now have got a better life)- And other things that will be developed along the way2) Three digital magazines - one each year - with the relevant topics. THe magazines will be created in international groups during the last International meeting of each year. Students will work together, write articles, make interviews, take photos which they prepare for the entire year. Each magazine will therefore be concentrated around the 2 topics that are in focus each year. It showed a clear split in European opinion as far as the reception of refugees was concerned. We then decided to do a project about refugees and frontiers. Our goal was to create a website filled with teaching tools that help students to develop a greater sense of European identity. We hoped it would empower them to consider this situation in a Pan European context rather than viewing it solely as a state or a local issue. In Greece especially the starting point was that since 2015 we started living face to face with the refugee issue, a huge crisis, with thousands of people walking around our city and seeking for a safe and better life, with shelters too close to our school community and with desperate people who left their countries under the threatening of their livesThe specific objectives being pursued in this project:• improve understanding why refugees flee their own countries and wish to live within the EU;• better understanding of practices and policies linked to the refugee crisis;• greater understanding and responsiveness to social, ethnic, linguistic and cultural diversity in and outside of Europe;• to promote a greater sense of European identity; • more active participation in society concerning the refugee issue and integration aspects;more positive attitude towards the European project and the EU values;• increased competence in the English language;• increased level of digital competence and ICT skillsNumber and profile of participants:Our five schools with our participating students were the main participants, of course. All students were between 15 – 18 years old. During the project, we cooperated with a huge amount of other organisations, such as (local) authorities, primary schools, youth services, refugee shelters, language schools, NGO’s, universities, intercultural centres and local entrepreneurs, embassies, national and local authorities. Description of undertaken main activities:During our 3-year project, we have not only organised 3 transnational and 5 international meetings, we have given our students an valuable life and learning experience linked to our objectives.Conversations, workshops and sports games and buddy projects gave students and refugee students a chance to get acquainted. Of course it created understanding on why refugees flee their native countries. Our visit to Brussels (and group discussions with MP Jeroen Lenaers), presentations by NGO’s and visits to local governments created understanding of practices and policies. On one hand, students recognised the difficult positions of countries and European authorities. On the other hand, the abstract image of ‘the refugee’ had been replaced by many personal faces and stories. It made them think in depth about the extremely complex issue at hand. Several activities mentioned before, the exchange set-up itself and various presentations showed our students the enormous diversity in and outside of Europe. It stressed the fact that meeting people who are different enriches your life; Experiences like these are one of the big advantages of living in a free and open Europe. Because of this, our students were extra motivated to participate actively in society concerning the issue and integration through guest lessons at primary schools and the buddy project. The complete project was made extra challenging for students because of English being our main language for communication. Moreover, students were encouraged to use a multitude of different ICT tools and applications to make presentations, workshops and group work more varied and interesting. Later on, a detailed overview of all activities will be given. Results and impact attainedNow we have reached the end of our project, our students have conducted interviews to measure the impact the project has had on its participants. Because of the sheer volume of activities and contact our group has had with refugees, NGO’s and other stakeholders, we can conclude that our students have truly gained understanding of and insight in the refugee crisis. They know people and their stories, they are aware of the different perspectives of the participating countries and are able to grasp why this situation is so extremely complex. Of this they have given testament during their presentations at home and during guest lessons that they gave. They also indicate that their experience has affected their close circle of family and friends as well. Unfortunately, we cannot be sure of this result. Of course, we had also hoped of achieving results in the greater communities. But honestly, we are not able to measure any impact in a larger sense accurately. As far as the buddy project is concerned, we can say that it definitely had impact on a local and personal level. ISK students had a smoother transition from their language school into regular education, because of the project.
