MAJORANA,4th GEL RODOUFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2021-1-EL01-KA220-SCH-000031629Funder Contribution: 110,105 EUR<< Background >>The changes occurred in education due to the worldwide spread of COVID-19 pandemic, the rapid and accelerated development of new and smart technologies, and the economical and social changes affected fundamentally the educational approaches, people communication and cooperation in the educational community. Those advances influenced both teachers and students inspiration and motivation for the learning process. It’s common that teachers suffer stress and burnout factors that negative affect mood, social behavior and learning. Under these circumstances it’s obvious that the recently formed educational reality requires new skills from the teachers, resilience to stressful situations, ability to adapt in changes and the enhancement of digital skills. Additionally the new circumstances require from schools to develop a new model of adaptability in changes, a new vision and mission, an updated internal policy and plan in order to meet the expectations of a sustainable and digitally oriented future.<< Objectives >>The main purposes of this partnership, which involves school partners (4th GEL Rodou from Greece, Fyllingsdalenvideregåendeskole from Norway, Liceo Copernico from Italy), the University of the Aegean( from Greece) and educational institutions (ICON from Greece, Joniškio rajon Švietimo įstaigų vadovų asociacija from Lithuania and Umbrella from Georgia), are to strengthen teachers occupational profile with professional development opportunities, establish a positive and stress-free working environment, favor students development, create innovative structures within educational complexes and organization, increase educational institutions capacity and readiness, effectively manage the shift to digital education, foster understanding and trust among students from different societies, develop international cooperation and conflict management skills, and solidarity.<< Implementation >>Participants will communicate and collaborate mainly online, but they will also have the chances to meet live before the project completion, during the introductory transnational meeting in Rhodes, Greece, at the intermediate meeting in Lithuania and at the learning teaching event in Norway. During these meetings, partners have the opportunity to discuss procedural project issues, exchange ideas and experiences about the best practices which can be implemented, and also they will be trained under the mentoring of the University and by the specialized mentors of the institutions. In particular, the training will aim to strengthen teachers professional profile with stress management and control skills, to create attractive digital educational materials, to develop classroom management skills and to implement innovative teaching approaches. Live meetings will be also a great opportunity for the partners to know, accept and appreciate each other’s cultural background. In addition, during the project school partners (with the contribution of the University and the institutions) will design collaborative practices and scenarios, that will be implemented and evaluated in their schools by them and their students, alongside University’s supervision and procedures improvements. The scenarios will be interdisciplinary (environment, European values, STEAM, etc.) with the integration of digital tools, games and outdoor activities. Furthermore, online live dissemination events will be organized throughout the project (social networks will be also used), and at the end of the project a main multiplier event will take place in each country that participated in the partnership (Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Georgia and Norway). The event will be attended also by local educators, teachers, students, young people and parents.<< Results >>At the time of project’s completion, all partners are expected to have resilience to stress, adaptability to change, enhanced communication, collaboration and digital skills, and understand every change as a challenge for innovation. Additionally teachers will have enriched their repertoire. Students and young people will value diversity, understand multiculturalism, respect the physical environment and will be inspired to be active citizen. Teachers, students, young people and parents will improve their digital skills, will have the ability to control stress and will adopt green behaviours. All participating actors will strengthen their contacts network and be able to implement more similar projects in the future. Within the framework of the project, intellectual outputs will be produced, such as e-learning platform with plenty educational resources, examples with successful actions/scenarios in the past implemented, the burnout measurement tool, a project evaluation, evaluation tools, an internal educational policy plan and the sustainability report. The project results aim also to attract educational policy makers.

Technology has been improving so rapidly that it is of great significance for students to adapt to these constant changes in technology. Individual competencies in STEM subjects are getting more important for the occupations of the future which are based on high technology. Therefore, innovative approaches are required in education. The era of the fast moving technology needs to be brought in the classroom, and more teachers need to be aware of the patterns that these students need, in order to capture their attention and make them acquire skills and competences. The critical thinking and creativity can be learnt by the students in order for them to be ready to cope with the challenges of the society. Due to Covid-19 we witnessed the largest disruption to education in Europe's recent history and the percentage of early school leavers and low educated population is drastically increasings again. Before pandemy a grouping of EU member states reached the goal of reducing ESL to 10%. The results in the PISA tests show that students need different models than the textbooks they use in school. Within this scenario the project's partners had identify 3 main needs: Support learners at risk dropout with new educational contents; To enhance the participation to educational initiatives of groups at risk of exclusion by developing educational contents and approaches based on the universal language of Multimedia, that are often one of the only interest of students; To find new ways for teachers of motivating students using the tools that students use everyday.<< Objectives >>With the project we would introduce a new and innovative approach for the teachers in STEM and Gamification education to follow and use as additional teaching material. STEM&GAMES will support school teachers in the use of alternative pedagogies with students at risk of ESL taking into consideration alternative pedagogical approaches: in the last decennia, a growing need for evidence on the value of STEM and game-based learning has emerged. STEM and classroom games provide a variety of ways to impart knowledge through creative, interactive and interesting activities; they can either help teach students a specific subject or help develop important skills essential to life and learning like teamwork and critical thinking, building systems thinking, design thinking, communication, creativity, and innovation. The application of these new features in local environments will allow a continued and concerted action that is expected to produce a change in attitudes and behaviors toward school. STEM&GAMES encompasses the chance for teachers to incorporate STEM and Gamification as the base for class management, implying an effort to learn and master both the theoretical aspects of the framework and, on a more practical level, the use of gamified software for our everyday practice. It will so delivery into innovative methodologies and develope accompanying tools to put these ideas into practice, aiming at improving not onlysubject-specific achievement levels but also transversal skills in secondary education.<< Implementation >>During the lifetime of the project there will be:1) Three transnational meetings at project partners level (Kick - off meeting – Croatia; Mid-project cycle meeting – Germany; Final meeting – Spain);2) Two LTTAs about ESL and Game based learning (one in Spain and one in Italy);3) Analysis of the state of art about gamification in the participating countries;4) Extracurricular activities about STEM and Gamification;5) Six (one per country) Multiplier Events;6) Evaluation and validation of the contents;7) Dissemination and exploitation activities. All the above activities contribute to the realization of the IOs of the STEM&GAME project (Guide and APP).<< Results >>The most important outcomes produced so far are:1) ""STEM and Gaming Aims Meaning Educational Success"". - A practical and innovative guide in all languages of the member countries of the project plus English;2) The STEM&GAMES APP created as a motivational tool to help children start their early journey into multiliteracy;3) Two Staff Training Events (one in Italy and one in Spain) about Game based learning and unplugged activities/Games and tools for learning programming, on using educational strategies of gamification in order to foster creativity, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Some of the non-tangible results: 1. Building individual strengths and talents;2. Pupils will feel respected and feel that their individual strengths, abilities and specific needs are recognized;3. Young people at risk of ESL will have easy access to different learning opportunities and targeted support;4. Spread of the need for innovative technology in classroom;5. Development of open-mindedness in educational practice;6. Fostering critical thinking in problem solving situations;7. Learning process more motivational and attractive to meet students’ needs and expectations;8. A better students' success in school and motivation to complete their compulsory education."

Cell phones, tablets, laptops... it gets easier and easier to get to the Internet and to all the information it contains. That's why we may make use of the opportunities of working and cooperation with partners form other countries opportunities that Erasmus+ projects provide to trasmit an international dimension to the educative training of or pupils. The main idea of this project is the creation of digital media in which studens from different countries will be able to publish news and posdcats. All these news and articles will deal with important topics for participants and taking into account each school backgorund, but they will always be the same for all schools. This way we could appreciate the same news from different points of view, one per each participanting schoolFor this project, partners from different countries were chosen to give to each new article alternative perspectives which could enrich it. It has been created an equilibrated mix among schools which already have some experience in working in international projects, with some other who haven't, but have a great enthusiasm and a strong willing of working and collaborating with colleagues from antoher countries, and so enrich each other with their working experience and shared learning. So, the very first member that we find is the Spanish high school I.E.S. Las Marinas, placed in Roquetas de Mar, Almería, who will act as coordinator centre. In second place it is the Bulgarian DimitarTalev Secondary School, which has lots of digital resources and technological knowledge that will be very useful for this specific project. We can also find the 4th Gel Rodou School from Rhodes, Greece, whose previous international experience will help to the correct develop of the common work. And finally it is the Istruzione Secondaria Superiore Federico II from Italy, who also knows the way to work with partners from other countries. All these schools will provide a cultural balance, technical support and experience from which enrich one from another for the good practices exchangeFor a correct development of the project, communication among partners will be held via mail or Messnger, but the eTwinning space will be used as the main web site where students will create the digital media. During the previous months before the beginning of the project, schools will be in touch exchanging ideas ,points of view, and creating a draft schedule with all the activitites to be developed by participants. But a join staff training event hosted by the coordinator school will be necessary at the beginning of the project itself, to set the topics to deal about, define the especific responsibilities of each partner, stablish the selection criteria for participants and make a short training about the digital tools and on line platforms that will be used during the project. That's why the attendance to this initial meeting is essential for all the project membersOnce these items have been set, each school will start working on the proposed activities on the calendar, and will make their contribution to the common work project. In order to promote cooperative working, members will carry out activities that involve all participating schools ( logo contest through on line voting, satisfying surveys...), and also the same activity in all the schools to appreciate the cultural differences (celebration of European Day of Languages, school sport days...)All these activities will be diseminated as much as possible through the on line sites where the digital media will be created, the main purpose of the project, as well as in the Erasmus+ corners that will be created in each school and also in the main social networks (Instagram, Twitter...)During the movilities with pupils participants will be able to appreciate the cultural wealth of other countries and take advantage of these good practises exchanges to make their knowledge grow. Each participating school will propose some beneficial activities for the rest of partners during their stay. After it, we will make satisfying surveys to pupils, teachers and parents, and we will also publish special articles in the online newspaper about these activities. As a conclusion, we can declare that the topic of this project is of vital importance, it is focused on an idea (the use of digital tools) which is very motivating for our students, and it can be very useful for their future both personal and professional.

We wanted to push the project forward and extend its positive outcomes and include more lines of action. For this reason, we’ve developed this new KA229 and contacted our partners, two of whom we have previously collaborated with in former Erasmus+ projects and other two we contacted with through e-Twinning: Stredna zdravotnicka skola, Moyzesova 17, Kosice (Slovakia)Ankara Kalem Egitim Ogretim Kurumlari (Turkey)Collège Mille Roches (Reunion Island/France)4th GEL RODOU (Rhodes/Greece)OBJECTIVES O1: to research into students real sports habits and healthy lifestyle.(Health and wellbeing)O2: to encourage the practice and protection of traditional sports as a means to preserve cultural heritage and identity (EU Citizenship, EU Awareness and Democracy)O3: to prevent school dropout by helping students acquire a sense of belonging, boost self esteem, develop life skills such as teamwork and promoting values of effort, resilience and hardwork. (SCHOOL EDUCATION: Tackling early school leaving and disadvantage)O4: to tackle discrimination and prevent women sports dropout using sports and traditional sports promotion as a means of integration and gender equality. (Gender equality / equal opportunities)PARTICIPANTSThe students chosen to be part of the project will be aged 12-17, with different backgrounds and a gender balance. They will work in assigned teams on the local activities and some of them will take part in exchanges. Furthermore, they will be work in disseminations activities as presenters, organizers or audience members. In total, there will be approximately 100 learners taking part in exchanges, assisted by teachers with subjects such as foreign language, Physical Education, social studies, ICT etc., who will also participate in students’ exchangesACTIVITIES“Traditional Sports for Integration and Equality in Europe” consists of monthly activities that are divided into different categories according to the objectives pursued in the project. During this two-year project students will research into teenage sports practice, conduct surveys, become aware of the benefits of sports and launch campaigns to promote a healthy lifestyle. They will investigate about traditional sports and the importance of their cultural heritage and its legacy in Europe, as a union of the contributions of all individuals. They will produce maps and compile a traditional sports rulebook and encourage other students to practise, record and share their experiences. They will also learn about the dream gap and understand the importance of tackling gender inequality. Finally, all this experiences will end up in the celebration of a Traditional Sports Olympic Games and address a letter to the European Parliament to ask for a more comprehensive promotion of traditional sports and their benefits for us all. METHODOLOGYThe methodology is based on a student-centered, peer-to-peer approach: the students will lead the activities and be responsible of the end products. They will work in groups, both in class and internationally, assisted by their teachers, using ICT tools. They will form teams of workshops, make research, inform themselves and create educational material. To attain the proposed goals they will communicate with the students from other partner schools and use eTwinning platform. Teachers will also work in teams following a better execution of the activities, monitoring the students’ activities, working closely with the other teams of the project to follow the plan of the activities, thus ensuring the success of the project. The project is expected to extend beyond all students, teachers and agents involved, as the products, the outcomes and the better understanding of its objectives will be available to be used in further projects and thus reach even more students, staff, parents, educational agents. After an activity is carried out, a teacher or teachers responsible for that activity will write a text report about the activity and gather activity outcomes (posters, art work, videos, presentations...), prepare exhibition open for public (in school or elsewhere) and give all materials to school coordinator to be posted on project dissemination platforms.Project team of teachers and students will have regular video meetings and evaluate results and plan future activities, define problems and offer possible solutions for them
