Humanity must be aware of their existence, potentials, harvesting, technologies of use and benefits from very beginning (childhood) in order to enable clean and prosperous future. Nowadays, in the region is common to include some information about RESs in the formal education. Still, children/students get only theoretical and scarce knowledge which leaves open doors to the conventional energy sources. Following the new trends of kid’s education and good practices, as also the IT technologies, it appears that the best approach is when they can DO IT by themselves or LEARNING BY DOING. Kids who DO - LEARN. Kids who OBSERVE – FORGETSolar energy is available everywhere and the technologies of application are mature and relatively simple. Still in the region of project partners, the level of application is minimal. It is vital that our children develop a solid understanding of the sun’s power and its various possible applications. The project proposal offers great start for youngsters to learn more about solar energy, and grow up more informed about the vital role of solar technologies in changing world’s energy future. All project partners have rich previous experience in environment related projects and are dedicated to climate change mitigation mainly by promotion and application of EE principles and RES use. The project partners include: two primary schools (Mirche Acev (MK) and Sveti Paisii Hilendarski (BG)), two municipalities (Gjorche Petrov (MK) and Razlog (BG)), and two NGOs (Solar Macedonia (MK) and Eco Razlog (BG)). Municipalities are responsible for preparation of strategic document “Strategy for partnership between municipalities of Gjorche Petrov, Macedonia and Razlog, Bulgaria on development of primary education”. Primary schools will participate with teachers (5x2) to be trained for implementation of OER (open education resources) in school subjects and learning by doing methods for solar technology, will be part of teachers’ network and will work with students on practical tasks; also a number of students (30 x 2) in testing the education methods and materials and larger number (120 x 2) to actually follow the course in full shape and content. NGOs have responsibility to deal with preparation of education materials (handbooks) for OER, eTwining module, theoretical and practical education on solar energy and technologies; dissemination of project results, organization and realization of events, realization of trainings and establishment of project’s web page. The main activities foreseen in the frame of the project are following: management and coordination of the project; preparation of materials and necessary equipment for transnational meetings; preparation of work materials and necessary IT equipment for presentations for short term training; development and printing of the intellectual outputs (Strategic document and handbook); development and maintenance of project web-site; preparation of leaflets with the project activities; organization of media publications and press releases for the project activities and results; preparation of presentations for final dissemination events.Foreseen methodology to be used on the teacher’s trainings is a mix of theoretical and practical knowledge. Participants will be given the theoretical information required to effectively create and implement their own learning solution in their school subjects by implementing of OER, with aim to increase knowledge of students about renewable resources. Furthermore, teachers will be trained to get familiar with solar technology, its advantages over conventional fuels, real “on site” implementation and analysis of results. With realization of the project activities following results are expected: produced strategic document for partnership among municipalities; produced manuals for practical using of OER for implementation of RES in school subjects; established teachers’ network by using of eTwinning for future cooperation; produced manuals for theory and practical use of PV and thermal solar modules; 60 students in test period and 240 students in the main learning event will get additional theoretical and practical knowledge about RES - “learning by doing” approach; web site with best practices from project activities. Members of the project’s teams will have opportunity to develop a strategic document for future cooperation. Common works on project activities will lead to establishment of good partnership for the implementation of projects in the future by use of available EU funds. Teachers from primary schools will be trained for utilization of OER and practical using of solar equipment which will lead to more effective teaching. Students will have opportunity to increase their knowledge about RES and generally about environmental issues by use of practical “learning by doing” methods.
