    CONTEXT / BACKGROUNDThe partner schools have identified the need to raise awareness regarding local Cultural and Natural Heritage and European cultural referents, specifically Leonardo Da Vinci, on his 500th death anniversary. They are also concerned about improving social cohesion, diversity, equality and all of them aim at upgrading their pupils’ linguistic and ICT skills and entrepreneurship.This project: MEETING POINT: Leonardo Da Vinci in essence has been designed to tackle the needs above mentioned. Its development will be key in the progress of the partner schools’ European Development Plan.OBJECTIVES: What?-To acquire a deeper knowledge of the different aspects that the concepts “Cultural and natural heritage” involve and to develop positive attitudes towards their preservation.-To identify different artistic styles and important natural resources in our regions and to analyse the impact of our actions on their protection.-To recognise Da Vinci´s work influence on our society, thus strenghthening European bonds and sense of community.-To inspire and motivate both underachieving students in order to prevent early dropout, and students with good academic results, so that all of them improve their basic skills (command of a second language, use of ICT, entrepreneurship …)- To enhance the quality and European dimension of teacher training, sharing of good practice- teaching and learning strategies, knowledge of European programmes, and shared continuous professional development.NUMBER AND PROFILE OF PARTICIPANTS: Who?Six staff and ten students from three European schools from Spain, Netherlands and Italy. Each school has a diverse pupil profile and a shared set of objectives which have been identified in the needs analysis. The selection of pupils who will travel as part of the project activities will be made by applying an agreed set of criteria. The project will involve wider audiences, since it will be part of the partner schools’ curricula, and most of the activities will be implemented in class. Furthermore, Meeting Point: Leonardo Da Vinci will impact on other schools in the partners’ learning communities at local, regional and national level, through planned dissemination.DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES AND METHODOLOGY: How ?The partnership will focus on developing skills, knowledge and it is envisaged that the activities will help students to prepare for tomorrow’s world of work.Activities: -Each partner will organize activities and create an intellectual product to showcase key aspects of their cultural heritage dealing with: Art, Folklore, Gastronomy, Natural Parks, Monuments and History. -Each partner will implement an activity in order to commemorate Leonardo Da Vinci’s Death Anniversary and his influence as an artist and European Referent. He will become our European meeting point. A final intellectual product will be produced.-Other important aspects that we will work on: -Evaluation and dissemination of the project outcomes -Creation of standards to supervise the Quality of our intellectual products -Use of eTwinning to implement follow up activities. -Meetings and fluent communication among partner schools. -Different mobilities will be carried out to strenghthen partnership’s bounds and to improve L2 linguistic skills.Methodology: CLIL, cooperative team work and shared leadership.RESULTS AND IMPACT ENVISAGED-Increased level of pupil achievement and performance. Enhanced development of linguistic and ICT skills-The incorporation of more innovative Teaching and Learning strategies in the classroom as result of sharing good practices-Increased social cohesion and raised awareness of diversity. Students will become better European citizens.-Heightened recognition of cultural and natural heritage and importance of preservation.-Deeped knowledge of Leonardo Da Vinci. His life and works.LONGER TERM BENEFITS-Development of a template concerning Cultural and Natural Heritage Preservation to support and provide guidelines of action beyond the immediate project duration.-Creation of an European network to develop new projects.-Creation of Open educational resources which can be shared and easily accessed.-Increased level of pupil’s engagement and performance in relation to cultural and natural heritage, ICT and L2 skills.-Improved atmosphere in schools regarding social inclusion, acceptance of diversity and equality.
