"<< Background >>Covid's pandemic has accelerated the digitization of several industries, which have had to quickly implement digital strategies in order to continue operating in a modified environment. This is especially true for SMEs active in international markets, which must be able to develop digital strategies to remain competitive. In fact, major changes in the way companies internationalize have occurred during the year 2020: A) New digital formats of trade show events and B2B meetings have appeared, allowing European companies to meet and continue to operate remotely. B) Companies have had to rapidly increase their online presence, leveraging new marketing and distribution channels. This represents an opportunity to reach new channels and customers in the global marketplace and a necessity if they want to remain competitive. In this new environment, people who promote internationalisation - the export managers of SMEs, the staff of export-supporting institutions, the workers of trade fairs and event organisers - must have digital skills and know the necessary tools to expand on the international market. At present, these skills are not part of the training of internationalization professionals. Therefore, there is a need to provide new digital skills to practitioners and VET learners preparing to work in the internationalization sector. These skills will enable them to:- learn how to organize digital/hybrid events, by finding original digital solutions and proper technologies to maintain part of the “human” and “sensorial” aspects of the face-to-face events;- learn online marketing and sales strategies and tools to expand the SMEs business on the global market. The DIGIT partnership chose to focus in particular on the internationalization of agro-food companies, since these are the most tied to sensory aspects and therefore the most difficult to digitize. This proposal aims at contributing to upskill and re-skill people that deal with internationalization of SMEs in agro-food sector and students in EQF 4-5 in International trade providing them with proper skills, competences and knowledge to face the challenges deriving from the new scenario boosted by Covid, that enhances a digitalization of the internationalization process of SMEs.<< Objectives >>As a general objective, the DIGIT project aims at providing people that during their daily activities promote the internationalization of EU SMEs in agro-food value chain, with relevant skills, knowledge, competences and tools to drive an inclusive digital transformation of the internationalization process.Specifically, the project will:A. Enhance opportunities to best incorporate digital technologies into subject-specific teaching, training and learning, adapting competences to face the digital transformation of the internationalization process using DigComp 2.1 as reference framework.DigComp 2.1 framework will be adapted to VET programmes dealing with internationalization and used as a tool to:- identify the necessary digital competences to be acquired by (future) pratictioners of internationalization- promote the acquisition of such competences- assess the reaching of the desired level of competence (level 5/6)B. Foster the suitable environment to update knowledge, competences and skills to cope with the new trends accelerated by Covid and deal with an inclusive digitalization of the internationalization process.Through the project pratictioners, VET learners, VET providers, SMEs and institutions dealing with internationalization will acquire competences related to digital tools for online marketing and selling. C. Promote networking of institutions across the EU and collaboration with digital and educational technology to develop tailor made solutions adapted to local challenges and realities related to digital transformation of the internationalization process of the EU SMEs in the agro-food sector.DIGIT will enable (future) pratictioners of internationalization to learn how to organize accessible large digital/hybrid events of internationalisation for SMEs of the agro-food sector. Moreover, the project will connect at local, regional, national and EU level, players active in the digitalization and internationalization of VET interested in discussing and exchange best practices on the latestfindings and technologies in the field of export and internationalizationA cross-cutting theme will be also ACCESSIBILITY and INCLUSION: all materials produced will be accessible also for people with poor digital literacy and learning difficulties, in order to promote a digital transformation that leaves no one behind.<< Implementation >>During the course of the project, following activities will be implemented1) PROJECT MANAGEMENTThis activity will be coordinated by ITKAM as coordinator. The activities falling under project management will enable the consortium to implement the project effectively. In particular, these activities will include: financial and budget controlling, timeline planning and workflow, KPI definition, distribution of tasks to the various participants, internal project communication.2) QUALITY MANAGEMENTPREDIF will be responsible for the QUALITY MANAGEMENT of the project. It will be in charge of:- verifying that KPIs are reached in time- ensuring the overall quality of project results and materials- monitoring the project impact- ensuring that project activities comply with the application- ensuring the ACCESSIBILITY of all materials produced3) DISSEMINATIONAs dissemination manager, F6S will be responsible for coordinating the dissemination tasks. Particularly, the DISSEMINATION will include:A) Setting up of dissemination channels and materials: setting us of the project website, social media channels, visual materials, project logo etc.B) Elaboration of a DISSEMINATION STRATEGYC) Engagement of DIRECT and INDIRECT TARGET GROUPS4) PRODUCTION OF PROJECT RESULTSThree project results are going to be developed in the DIGIT project: a) OERs FOR WORKERS AND VET TRAINERS ABOUT DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE INTERNATIONALIZATION OF THE AGRO-FOODSMEs SECTOR (F6S responsible)b) TOOLKIT: Accessible Digital Marketing Techniques Tools (ICR responsible)c) TOOLKIT to organize digital and hybrid events of internationalization5) ORGANIZATION OF LTTAIn the DIGIT project, 2 LTTA are going to be organised: a) A short-term joint staff event training in M2 (responsible: PREDIF)This LTTA aims at analysing the DigComp 2.1 framework in depth and its scenario for adaptation in VET.Participants will be two staff members per partner organisations. The findings of this LTTA will be included in the first Project resultb) A bended mobility for VET learners in M21 (responsible: ITKAM)During the blended mobilit, VET learners of the VET schools participating in the consortium will have the chance to learn and simulate how to organize a hybrid/digital event of onternationalization. 6) ORGANIZATION OF MULTIPLIER EVENTSIn order to widespread the outputs and results of the project, four multiplier events will be organised in the framework of the project:- 3 local multiplier events in Germany, France and Spain- 1 European multiplier event in Brussels (Belgium)7) SUSTAINABILITY AND EXPLOITATIONPREDIF will be in charge of drafting the SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY of the consortium. In order to ensure the exploitation of prjct results also beyond the funding period, the consortium will:- Develop all materials as OERs, that will be available for adaptation and download for at least three years on the project and project partners' websites.- Update once a year the Project result number 3, in order to integrate it with the latest best practices on digital and hybrid events' organization- Involve at least three further VET providers that will integrate the project results in their VET programmes- Foster the tranfer of the results to other geographical areas/ sectors/ contexts<< Results >>1. OERs FOR WORKERS AND VET TRAINERS ABOUT DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE INTERNATIONALIZATION OF THE AGRO-FOODSMEs SECTOR The first project result is addressed to VET teachers and trainers as well as to organizations supporting the internationalization of SMEs.In order for VET learners and companies to acquire the necessary e-skills for the new digital challenges in internationalisation processes, it is crucial that VET trainers and organisations supporting SMEs in internationalisation are first able to:- recognise the skills that need to be developed- transmit these competences- measure the level of competence acquired- lay the base for an inclusive digital transformation. In the production of this R, the partnership will base on the UNDP’s new Digital Strategy and DigComp 2.1 framework to better understand the potential of digital technologies, articulate their use and value, and apply them to VET teaching and learning. The R1 will provide guidelines on:- how best incorporate digital online technology into subject-specific teaching, training and learning;- how to adapt competences to face digital transformation of the internationalization process using DigComp 2.1 as reference framework. The innovation of this R consists in the adaptation of DigComp 2.1 to reach the advanced proficiency level 5/6 (p.19 DigComp) and cope with the digitalization of internationalization process of SMEs.The OERs will enable teachers and trainers to promote and measure learners' and workers acquisition of digital skills specific to the internationalisation sector. 2. TOOLKIT: Accessible digital marketing toolsThe R2, TOOLKIT ABOUT DIGITAL MARKETING TECHNIQUES, will be useful for:- workers that during their activities deal with digitalization and internationalization process of SMEs;- learners in EQF4/5 paths that deal with digitalization and internationalization of SMEs;- teachers and trainers that need to update their skills to cope with the new trends and needs in the field of digital marketing, to speed-up the recovery of EU SMEs and face the challenges boosted by Covid.R2 will provide learners and workers with digital marketing knowledge useful to support SMEs in the promotion of the companies' products through accessible digital channels and tools. The R will explore the digital marketing campaigns, employing combinations of search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), content marketing, influencer marketing, content automation, campaign marketing, data-driven marketing, e-commerce marketing, social media marketing, social media optimization, e-mail direct marketing, display advertising, e–books, and optical disks and games.3. TOOLKIT for the organization of digital and hybrid events of internationalizationStarting from the experience of ITKAM and F6S in internationalization events for SMEs in the agri-food sector, the consortium will create this R aiming at providing a useful practical guide to arrange digital and hybrid internationalization events targeting SMEs in the agro-food sector. The TOOLKIT will contain practical guidelines for the organisation of two formats of accessible digital and international events dedicated to agrofood:1) The organization of a digital masterclass with wine and food tasting2) The organization of a hybrid trade fair, which includes a virtual exhibition space and the possibility to organize B2B virtual meetings. For each of the two events will be presented:- current best practices and case studies on the European scene;- possible concepts and formats- the digital tools available: platforms for the organisation of digital events, possibility of simultaneous remote interpretation, videoconferencing and live-streaming systems, etc.- strategies to ensure the interaction of participants;- possible digital marketing campaigns techniques- issues concerning data protection and privacy- SWOT analysis of this format compared to the ""face-to-face"" events"

"<< Background >>The main motivation behind the presentation of this project is the idea, stated in the Entrepreneurship 2020 Action Plan, that ""investing in entrepreneurship education is one of the highest return investments Europe can make"", combined with the conviction that soft-skills hide the key to unlock additional potential in young professionals and entrepreneurs. As a result, we have seen the multiplication of initiatives promoting entrepreneurial learning across the board, from vocational education and training organisations to non-formal entrepreneurial learning in youth organisations. Today, a substantial body of evidence demonstrates that possessing soft skills predict a wide range of life outcomes, in particular employability, career advancement, and entrepreneurial success (Kerr, 2018, Krueger, 2015, Lackéus, 2015).Hard skills have gradually lost importance in favor of soft skills, especially with the proliferation of artificial intelligence, which have proven to be a crucial asset in terms of employability and entrepreneurial success. In fact, the comprehensive Youth Work and Entrepreneurial Learning report (2016), demonstrates that entrepreneurial learning and its associated soft skill development, is particularly powerful when taking place in non-formal and informal settings, including youth work. SOFTIMPROVE intends to translate it into actionable learning strategies and provide employed and unemployed professionals and aspiring and confirmed entrepreneurs with the soft skills necessary for employability, career and business success while creating synergies between vocational education and training and non-formal entrepreneurial learning settings. In a nutshell, this project is justified in an ever-changing economic environment, which is in an evolution process towards a new professional framework that is more reliant on soft-skills and interpersonal competences. It responds to the need of young professionals and confirmed/aspiring entrepreneurs of enhancing their employability and their probabilities of economic success. More importantly, it responds to the need of training the best professionals for tomorrow, to expand their potential and capabilities to adapt to the new challenges posed by the economic environment.<< Objectives >>The goal of SoftImprove is to provide professionals and entrepreneurs with the knowledge and practice of soft skills needed to enhance their employability, improve their career prospects or increase their chance of success as entrepreneurs. The specific objectives of the project are:• O1: Characterize soft skills, decipher the role they play in improving employability, career and business and assess professionals and entrepreneurs’ needs and expectations of training on soft skills;• O2: Specify and develop a methodology blending in-person teaching and distance learning to train employed and unemployed professionals and aspiring and confirmed entrepreneurs on soft skills along with tools to monitor and assess the trainees’ progress in soft skills;• O3: Develop a face-to-face training course on soft skills combining theoretical knowledge, coaching, gamification and peer-to-peer feedbacks to be tested in pilot sessions, evaluated and refined;• O4: Construct a distance learning platform on soft skills made up of adapted as well as specifically developed contents;• O5: Promote a generation of professionals and entrepreneurs well-aware of and well trained on soft skills with the message than soft skills are as important as hard skills, and that soft skills can be improved through learning.<< Implementation >>In order to fulfill the first and second objective, that of delving into the state of the art of Soft-Skills and the elaboration of a methodology to give training, the partners will: map soft-skills, seek for feedback on stakeholders about their way of considering soft-skills and investigate their impact in terms of employability, career, and business as well as the needs of the target young professionals and entrepreneurs in soft-skills. Regarding the objective of developing the training modules and tools, the activities planned include: the development of the training modules, the creation of a soft-skill use library and the Experimentation and assessment of the training program. Thirdly, the activities planned to build the distance learning platform are: defining the functional specifications of the platform and set it up, and the adaptation of the content to the characteristics of the platform as well as the creation of new content specific to the platform (i.e. video testimonies). Finally, the platform will be tested and improved with the feedback received.Planned additional activities are: -Strategic steering, quality control and project monitoring-Administrative and financial management-Dissemination activities through, but not only, multiplier eventsAll these activities are aimed to provide the target group with training in soft-skills, which will ultimately enhance their employability and their chances of success when starting a business.<< Results >>At the knowledge level, the project will result in a common terminology of soft skills and an in-depth assessment of their impacts on employability, career, and business, as well as a mapping of the soft skills needed and expected by professionals and entrepreneurs. At the educational level, the project will design, develop and implement a gamified, blended soft skill development programme, applied to professionals seeking jobs or career progress and entrepreneurs starting or running their own enterprises or aspiring entrepreneurs looking to turn ideas into action. The programme will include: (i) a list of intended learning outcomes drawn upon both professionals and entrepreneurs’ needs and expectations and partners’ knowledge and experience to be used to define the learning content in terms of topics as well as levels; (ii) The set of modules to be taught in face-to-face sessions made up of theoretical knowledge, quizzes, coaching sessions, serious games, and peer-to-peer assessment ; and (iii) A distance learning platform providing dynamic and interactive training on soft skills with embedded incentives (gamification), practical simulations and ongoing feed-back along with a library of concrete cases for experiential learning. Finally, at the dissemination level, the project will create a website presenting soft skills notably, but not exclusively in terms of lever for employability and entrepreneurship, the project objectives, content and partners; and five multiplier events held in Belgium, France, Germany, Iceland and Spain to present the project outcomes, discuss their scientific and pedagogical relevance and promote their take-up at the academic as well as business levels."

Technological advancements and changes in consumer behaviours after COVID-19 require retailers to accelerate their digital transformation to deliver differentiated consumer experiences and interactions. Nevertheless, the adoption rate of key digital technologies, such as AI, by MSMEs remains significantly low in the EU (DESI 2022), positioning the Union far from the Digital Decade target of 75%+ European companies adopting AI technologies by 2030. In most of the countries represented in the consortium, the AI adoption rate does not even reach the EU average. The European wholesale and retail trade sector is the 3rd to last in the EU regarding the adoption rate of AI technologies. A lack of a skilled workforce to adopt the integration of AI in retail hinders not only market growth in the EU and represents a significant risk for European SMEs of falling behind their global competitors and missing out on significant opportunities for growth and efficiency, and for making companies greener. In this context, the INAIR project proposal aims to reduce the AI skills gap of European MSMEs in Retail, to let them exploit the potential of AI for greening their businesses, support their competitiveness in the global market and ultimately contribute to reaching the digital decade target of 75%+ European companies adopting AI technologies by 2030. To achieve its aim, over 30 months, the consortium will: -Identify AI skills needs and gaps for MSMEs in retail in CY, DE, IT, PL and RO; -Devise, test and implement a scalable hybrid AI skills development program to re-/up-skill at least 150 owners and employees of MSMEs working in retail; -Develop teaching and training resources to support VET providers in integrating the project resources and tools into their work. Key results: AI Skill Needs & Gaps Analysis in retail; AI Core Curriculum, Skills Assessment Tool and Open Educational Resources for workers and owners of micro, small and medium-sized retailers; eLearning Environment.
