Open Access Mandate for Publications and Research data assignment_turned_in Project2021 - 2023Partners:UPUPFunder: European Commission Project Code: 101033368Overall Budget: 162,040 EURFunder Contribution: 162,040 EURThe OCHER project investigates the relation between in-context historical forms of collective management of lands and resources and their current environmental and landscape value, triggering a reflection on the accessibility rights to natural resources for future generations. Following the Habitats Directive, whose aim is to promote natural habitats taking account of local requirements, 8 sites in 4 different European countries, selected from the Natura 2000 list, are chosen as case studies in a comparative perspective. The research addresses different kinds of “institutions for collective action”, at different scales in rural areas. Here conservation and sustainable use of the environment are centred on "people working with nature" and minimal forms of organisation are mainly households. Therefore, a combined historical, anthropological and juridical approach is needed to achieve: • a better understanding of the long-term effects and resilience of resource use in the environment; • a deeper reflection on the specificity of collective subjects and on the mechanisms of collective legal actions and institutions. OCHER will also address the issue published by the Council of Europe in “Protecting future generations trough commons”, which features the project’s objective outlines with preeminent questions such as: • What do we inherit from past generations from a cultural and environmental point of view? • What is at stake in the environmental issues of the present? • What can collective institutions teach us from an environmental perspective? OCHER aims to contribute, with a multidisciplinary research, to the reflection on a new environmental right, that goes beyond the dichotomy man/nature, trying to understand the historical forms of a non-destructive, nor extractive, relation of interdependence in social and ecological systems. It also addresses the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and intends to take action by means of its research outcomes

The project ""Saving Lives: Suicide and Survivors"" aims to innovate education and vocational training in suicidology in order to promote specialist skills in the clinical and scientific research fields. The project adopts an interdisciplinary multilevel approach, in order to involve young students and experienced professionals and, by working together, contribute to the fight against the associated with suicide stigma.<< Implementation >>The ""Saving Lives"" strategy aims to the implementation and coordination of educational innovation activities deployed simultaneously between the two partner organizations. Specifically, the project provides for a continuous training path through structured study sessions, cycles of scientific and open to citizenship events, a learning mobility plan and the exchange of good practices between two partner organizations.<< Results >>""Saving Lives"" aims to broaden the study and applicability of innovative approaches, methods and tools in the training field on the subject of suicide, in line with the needs of Erasmus + for VET. De Leo Fund will extend its range of research and action to suicide prevention (e.g. Italian validation of STARS, implementation of crisis services), while the Primorska University will deepen the theme of survivors, elaborating specific research lines and import of dedicated services."

But their efforts are often undermined by fake news circulating and growing in social bubbles and echo chambers. ‘Fake news and conspiracy theories? Let's empower (ourselves for) Science!’ (Slovene Acronym: oooZnanost!, English Acronym: oooScience!) is the red line of the 11th edition of the European Researchers’ Night’s Night (ERN) project, which now includes Researchers at School activities under the coordination of the University of Maribor, which continues to engage the scientific community with various national and local media and primary and secondary schools. The project's main objective continues to raise awareness of the researchers' profession and reinforce their positive image, the benefits that scientists create for society, to stimulate curiosity and skills to detect fake news, misrepresentation and fabrication of scientific results/facts, and find reliable information through Open Science, and last but not least to inspire the young to embark the research profession. Those, as mentioned earlier, will be pursued by the researchers’ involvement in the Intensive Awareness campaign, numerous edutainment activities in festive spirit during the European Researches Nights 2024 and 2025 (Maribor, Koper, Izola), active involvement of our Researchers in Schools in many Slovenian cities and strengthening researchers' competencies and communication skills to interact with the non-research audience effectively, and followed by improved in-depth Impact Assessment studies.

Inclusiveness is the key, not only when we speak about society, researchers (in all aspects) but also the young with less opportunity to get in touch with science (bus transport to ERN event). The intensive (off/online) awareness campaign (AC) will include national cooperation of selected ERN consortiums, various pre-events, national reward competition, Train the trainers and multipliers program. On traditional ERN main event renewed programs in a festive and fun atmosphere. Pre-events and events activities aim at offering the public at large an opportunity to get engaged in science through fascinating experiments, demonstrations, observations, to socialize and have fun with researchers in a relaxed atmosphere. They include various interactive activities of a wide range of science fields. ZATE activities will be implemented in Maribor, Krško, Koper, Izola and Nova Gorica. Trained researchers will interactively present research and innovation results. EU dimension will be visible, presented also by representatives of NCPs (MSCA, ERC), Europe Direct, SBRA Brussels. Traditional cooperation of the primary and secondary schools' winning teams of research and innovative projects in the frame of Youth for Maribor Progress (financed by Maribor municipality) is included again, as a way through which young easier inspire their fellows and connect with the real scientists. Last but not least, the improved impact assessment, which results are important contribution also to the evolution of the next ERN project activities.

Sawe activities will bring closer to the public, especially to youngster, also the human, caring face of scientists with sense for humor and fun. For that purpose, we will implement awareness campaign with pre-events, “Stand-up Science” in 2018, 2019 and public-call for (pre)schoolchildren. On the last September, Fridays in 2018 (att. Cultural Heritage) and 2019 ERN will be organized with renewed programs in the festive and fun atmosphere. All Sawe events program activities aim at offering the public at large especially the young an opportunity to cooperate and socialize with researchers in a relaxed atmosphere. They include experiments, presentations, astronomy observations, workshops, researchers’ rock bands performed by researchers and students. Rawe ERN events will take place in Ljutomer, Maribor, Brežice, Koper, and Izola. Traditional cooperation of the primary and secondary schools’ winning teams of research and innovative projects in the frame of Youth for Maribor Progress (financed by Maribor Municipality) enable most promising youngsters to inspire their fellows and connect with the real scientists. The »European corners« will be in the heart of every RN location: Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellows' witnesses, information how one can become a researcher, EC’s various actions, programs, actions (incl. HRS4R, RESAVER) to present how EU cares about its researchers. Finally, yet importantly, the impact assessment includes pre-study and research prior and after events using a paper-pencil method. The impact assessment foresees intercultural comparison of results after using the same methodology as selected ERN leading partners: Prona-Montenegro, the Maastricht University and the University of Latvia.
