"Two years were needed to set up “Aladdin and the Intergenerational lamp”, the Erasmus plus project. Five European partner organizations have been working together to learn about the way storytelling can be used by seniors to improve language, motivational and entrepreneurial skills in young adults from underprivileged backgrounds. This project can thus be summed up in two key concepts: the use of storytelling in an intergenerational context. The different partners of the project have gathered their skills and developed a theoretical background as well as a methodology (encompassing interactive and fun activities) using stories and short story techniques. In this way, the senior volunteers, firstly, received a training on how to work with young adults and how to use methods of storytelling to improve the skills mentioned above, and finally intergenerational workshops were set up to allow the volunteer seniors to act as co-leaders.Elan Interculturel (France) and DEMÀ – Departament d’Estudis dels Medis Actuals (Catalonia) – have based their work on the development of motivational skills. Storytelling Center (Netherlands) and Superact (England) have organised workshops to develop entrepreneurial skills. The Aladdin project has two main objectives:- the development of basic skills (language, entrepreneurial and social skills) as well as the underprivileged young adults’ personal wellbeing. - giving value to seniors’ skills as well as acquiring new skills (short storytelling techniques’)Superact (United Kingdom) and the Storytelling Center (Netherlands) are experts in all kinds of activities related to storytelling. Superact (UK) sets up training courses for adults and young people in precarious situations, organizes large-scale events, and develops training and storytelling materials as an educational tool. The Storytelling Center (PB) organizes project design and implementation workshops; it also offers training programs around storytelling techniques in (conflicting) communities.Kepes (Hungary), Elan Interculturel (France), DEMA (Spain), Superact (United Kingdom) all have experience in working with Seniors and especially in intergenerational projects. The Storytelling Center (PB) and Elan Interculturel (FR) have experience in working with young people. Elan Interculturel (FR) is an expert in the field of intercultural communication, and all partners have experience in working with immigrants and / or minorities.Activities:- ""National Info Day"" held in each partner country to inform participants about the project's objectives, to present the various publications, products and activities within the framework of the project,- The senior workshop to teach them to use storytelling as a pedagogical approach to disadvantaged young adults,- Intergenerational workshops to develop language skills of young migrants adult, or entrepreneurial and motivational skills of disadvantaged young adults, using storytelling methods,- An international final conference, which disseminated project results and products to stakeholders and other target groups for operational purposes. Results:o A theoretical and methodological booklet on the foundations of the projecto A tool box: (exercises, games) based on short stories.o A Guide for Seniors including resources needed for the organizer of intergenerational workshopso A collection of intercultural stories to illustrate cultural diversity and highlight the similarities between cultureso A booklet of case studies coupled with videos made during different workshopso A dynamic, multilingual website with online educational resourceso Social networkso 6 newslettersYoung adults have thus increased their cultural and communication skills, their self-confidence, and, consequently, the improvement of their social inclusion. The model which Association for the Protection and Survival of Habitats (YAŞAD) proposed and succeeded in was designed within the scope of Social Progress Program by South Marmara Development Agency (GMKA). Applied in this project, “The model of the rehabilitation of the mentally disabled children and teenagers in the nature” has been put into practice as an innovative and applicable model to support the space of the disabledpositively and increase the service efficiency. During the studies aimed to reintegrate disabledchildren into the society, it has been seen that quicker results can be obtained in the rehabilitation works based on communing with nature, attachment to creatures and animals in the nature and to nature itself. With our project team, we started out to make a rehabilitation program that emphasize the concepts of “Together”, “Us”, “Embrace the Nature”, “In natural environment”, “Sharing” and in the end, we succeeded in. We reapplied our model with the professional members appointed by our European partners in Italy, Romania, Portugal, Spain, and Poland. We made them to enter the habitats of living creatures naturally. We made them share each other’s daily life. We provided them with a happy day by taking advantage of drama education in nature and natural environments. Thanks to the natural communication of love, we have seen that our innovative model highly succeeded in and we were very glad for that.We can say that we have exceedingly reached our following goals for the development, learning, and extensification of our project. The general purpose of our project is “Providing the learning and extensification of “the model of the rehabilitation of mentally disabled children and teenagers in the nature” in European countries and Turkey. This general purpose has been adopted by our partners and their members of profession have struggled for the project and its extensification through learning. With this reason, we have spent a successful two-year project process with our partners and other stakeholders.Special purposes;1-The purpose of increasing the quality of the rehabilitation works in the area of mentally handicapped children and teenagers by ensuring the learning and the supporting of the innovative applications by the members of profession, and experience sharing among them.In this context, our model has been tried and applied in each partner country. Its results has been shared in our seminars. With the experiences of our partners and their knowledge, our model has been grown up and shared more than ever. Europe’s support for our model has honored YAŞAD and our project team.2-Ensuring that our innovative experiences in the area of rehabilitation are developed by being transfered and extended at an institutional, national and European level.According to the evaluations of our project management team, the studies on the high level experience sharing, the application and the evaluation of the model, and the extensification at each stage have been completed successfully. With the idea that we set forth in the project, we have reached the studies; Q1- The Definition of Rehabilitation Model, Q2- The Regulation of Education Courses, Q3- The Applied Training of the Model, Q4- Obtainment of Feedback on the Model Applied by All Our Partners, Q5- Needs Analysis and Guidance Reports, Q6- Founding the Platform of Rehabilitation Trainers and Electing the Founding Board, Q7- Extending the Project Results. The purposes and the results of our project have been welcomed with a big interest in Turkey and Europe. Through our model, different cultures and different professions on the matter of the handicapped have focused on a common work. Although the project is over, the members of “the Platform of Rehabilitation in Nature Trainers”, founded during the project process, continues to extend the aims and results of our project. These activities continues with our web site and platform organization. Our project purposes have been reached with the interest and great support of our partners and stakeholders. With the same excitement and powerful stakeholder support, it has been set out on new projects for our handicapped children and teenagers’ happiness and their rehabilitation. In this process, our model will stay available for new projects.

"The project proposed a new approach to the development of transversal skills by implementing the concept of ""new education"" by acquiring knowledge and skills related to some of the new educations: Education for the environment, peace, health, democracy, communication and media, entrepreneurship, civic, leisure, personal development. The concept of New Educations has been launched by the Romanian teacher George Vaideanu in 1988 and they constitute proof of the involvement of the education systems in the popularization of problems of the contemporary world, hoping to find peaceful and viable solutions. The followed objectives were the ones established from the beginning:1. Improving the educational act by developing the transversal skills to 2,000 students 2. Increasing the quality of education by developing personal and professional skills to 300 teachers 3. Creating an international network of collaboration that will include schools and institutions working in the education and training of teaching staff for permanent exchange of best practices. The project gathered together nine organisations from seven countries: two NGOs - Edulife, the coordinator of the project, from RO and DEMA from ES, 6 schools from RO, IT, HR, TR and PL, and one enterprise, ATiT, from BE. The project had a modular structure, including nine modules, one per each education and each partner was in charge with one education. The distribution was according to the background and experience of each partner. Each partner proposed Methodological Guidelines - workshops scenarios - for all partners in order to develop those activities in schools; at least 5 activities per module were developed in each partner school, following the development of transversal skills to students and different personal and professional competences to teachers. Over 2000 students were involved in the activities of partner schools, growing their transversal skills. Workshops on the themes of New Educations with volunteers and trainers were organised in NGOs. Over 300 teachers and trainers from partner institutions developed their personal and professional skills. Workshops scenarios of all modules composed the Guide with methodological instructions for using New educations in order to develop transversal skills to students. The most significant results of activities (videos, pictures, posters etc.) were included in the large version of the Guide. The theoretical aspects of teaching each New Education were included in a course with nine chapters, one chapter for each New Education. The Guide and the Course were the Intellectual Outputs of the project, presented in six Multiplier events in six countries of the project partners. The website of the project www.new-educations.eu contains the main results of the project: newsletters, leaflets, brochures, posters, presentations and also the intellectual outputs in digital form. Project participants are pleased with the activities they have participated in, the knowledge they have gained and the skills they have developed: they better understand the concepts of each new education, they have understood that the manifestation of active and responsible social behavior is suited to a changing world, understood the importance of constructive interest in community issues. They have developed their team spirit and digital skills to better adapt to a changing society. Increasing the quality and attractiveness of the educational process by using the new teaching and learning methods and strategies as a result of the development of the professional and personal skills of the staff involved in the teaching process has had a great impact on the schools involved. The partner organizations have increased their visibility in Europe by popularizing the results achieved through their activities, and have strengthened their own organizational capacity and their own courage to develop themselves in the future by accessing European funds. The experience and intellectual results obtained within this project will be a strong starting point for future development actions, educational projects."
