<< Objectives >>General aim of this project is in increasing quality of youth work through using drama methodologies for psychosocial support of young people with fewer opportunities.Specific aims are in strenghthening youth workers for using and questioning drama based youth work for psychosocial support of young people with fewer opportunities, mapping important stakeholders and promote recommendations and good practicices from the field.<< Implementation >>Implemented activities will be: mutual preparation and online coordination meeting, training seminar in drama based youth work and psychosocial support of young people with fewer opportunities, field work for preparation of recommendations (eToolkit), final conference and evaluation online meeting with promotion of the project on local level.<< Results >>Developed consortium of partners, strengthen group of 15 youth workers/leaders for drama-based youth work and psychosocial support, DIOKNO mapping of stakeholders important for the topic, designed and disseminated eToolkit with recommendations from the field, realized final conference with newly formed network of practitioners and stakeholders and promotions of the project on social media.

<< Objectives >>The main goal of the project is to improve the quality of youth work through increasing the services which the participating organisations provide their target groups which include marginalised youth with complex trauma backgrounds. This is expected to be achieved through capacity building which includes the development of a common innovative trauma-sensitive working model for the benefit of marginalised youth with complex trauma which can be implemented internationally and in different areas.<< Implementation >>The objective of the project is to develop a trauma-sensitive working model for professionals who work with marginalised youth wirh complex trauma backgrounds. The working model is based on the needs of these professionals (direct target group) as well as of the end-users of the project results (indirect target group of the aforementioned youth) and hence by developing this working model we strive to fill a gap which the consortium know exists and which has been detected through its work.<< Results >>It is expected that the project will bring positive impacts to the lives of the end-users of the project. Participation in trauma-sensitive therapy aims to strengthen their self-belief, reduce their psychological unwellness and alleviating its symptoms, improve their ability to function, increasing their opportunities to live a crime- and drug-free life promoting the project’s utmost purpose which is to ease their social inclusion and their transition towards education and the labour market.

"Skills for Freedom nasce per dare risposta a esigenze riscontrate da alcuni partner di progetto, durante il proprio operare in carcere. Stimolati dal positivo lavoro svolto attraverso “POST. Prisoner On Stage: Theatre as a link between inside and outside” (GRUNDTVIG), Teatro dell’Ortica e aufBruch (con EFA) propongono ad ARCI Liguria, da molti anni impegnata negli istituti penitenziari della Liguria, di approfondire le tematiche legate all’utilizzo delle attività artistiche, in carcere, come strumento adatto a sviluppare competenze (soft and hard) utili sia alla vita in detenzione che al reinserimento socio-lavorativo post-pena.Nato dalla lettura di un contesto, che nel 2015 contava - nei 28 Paesi dell'UE - circa 650.000 detenuti, di cui solo 1/5 in media svolgeva una qualsiasi occupazione e solo il 3% lavorava per imprese o enti esterni, il progetto conferma come la mancata occupazione, l'assenza di percorsi formativi per tutti, la perdita di identità e senso di appartenenza alla comunità civile siano tra le cause che inducono alla recidiva, che colpisce sempre più i giovani e i più svantaggiati. Il partenariato, completato da Asturia, Collegium Balticum, DomSpain, EuroSuccess, Izmir Valiligi e UPSDA, nei 36 mesi di vita di progetto, dimostra il valore e l’efficacia delle esperienze artistiche nelle carceri rispetto ai bisogni specifici:• Dei detenuti: di ritrovare con arte e teatro la confidenza e la sicurezza di sé, base per la scoperta delle proprie competenze basiche e trasversali, cardine per il reinserimento sociale; di acquisire competenze professionali, potenzialmente certificabili;• Degli operativi/organizzazioni in carcere: di vedere riconosciuto il proprio operato, aumentando il collegamento coi percorsi professionalizzanti dei detenuti e col sistema educativo esistente; • Del sistema carcere: di migliorare la vita in detenzione e facilitare qualità e quantità degli sbocchi occupazionali per il reinserimento post-pena. Il progetto, in linea con1) Strategia Europa 2020: crescita inclusiva, sostegno ad adulti per acquisire nuove competenze e per adattarsi all'evoluzione del mercato del lavoro.2) Priorità ET 2020: 1° Obiettivo strategico: ""apertura verso l'apprendimento non formale e informale […]; 3°: Promuovere l'equità, la coesione sociale e la cittadinanza attiva; 4°: Incoraggiare la creatività e l'innovazione [...] a tutti i livelli dell'istruzione e della formazione.ha raggiunto i previsti obiettivi specifici:1. Definire il quadro delle competenze, trasversali e specifiche professionalizzanti, informali e formali, che i percorsi teatrali e artistici rivolti ai detenuti possono offrire;2. Sviluppare modelli utili alla validazione delle competenze, dei percorsi artistici in carcere, e valevoli anche per la mobilità europea degli ex detenuti; 3. Definire nuove prassi per facilitare il reinserimento lavorativo dei detenuti e il riconoscimento sostanziale delle competenze acquisite con le attività artistiche;4. Definire standard di preparazione e organizzazione interna delle compagnie artistiche/teatrali e degli istituti penitenziari per facilitare la realizzazione e la replicabilità di interventi coi detenuti in tutta Europa. Con la metodologia della ricerc-azione e il supporto di una piattaforma dedicata e tradotta in 8 lingue (www.skills4freedom.eu), grazie a un percorso formativo e alle sperimentazioni testate direttamente con gli enti partner operativi nelle carceri, il progetto ha sviluppato 3 strumenti innovativi:a) il Quadro europeo delle Competenze trasversali e specifiche per carcerati impegnati nelle attività artistiche e teatrali, e dei sistemi di certificazione ad esso applicabili;b) le Linee Guida operative per amministrazioni penitenziarie, associazioni e compagnie teatrali/artistiche, per sviluppare progettualità che valorizzano le professionalità acquisibili dai detenuti;c) la Banca Dati europea che permetta di far incontrare le richieste di lavoro, specialmente in campo artistico, con i profili professionali di detenuti e ex detenuti.Il progetto ha impegnato continuativamente circa 30 operatori dei partner, coinvolto oltre 350 detenuti nella produzione del primo IO e impegnato direttamente nelle sperimentazioni del IO2 140 detenuti. É, attualmente, in crescita il numero di coloro che si avvicinano al progetto e usufruiscono, in particolare, della sua piattaforma. Con i suoi 8 eventi moltiplicatori, Skills ha coinvolto oltre 300 stakeholders e - anche attraverso il proprio e-learning e il Database - conferma di potere raggiungere 13.000 tra operatori pubblici, sociali, artistici e del volontariato, garantendo il proprio funzionamento nei 2 anni successivi al suo termine. Sul lungo termine il progetto favorisce:1) la valorizzazione e l'incremento dei percorsi artistici/teatrali in carcere2) maggiore occupabilità dei detenuti, valorizzando competenze spendibili3) nuove sinergie tra sistemi della sicurezza, della formazione e dell'inserimento lavorativo."

In line with Actions supported under Key Action 2 and the needs of this project to be carried out, the expected results of this project is to develop and to transfer implementation of innovative practices at organisational, local, regional, national or European levels and which are expected to bring positive and long-lasting effects on policy systems in which such Actions are framed, on the participating organizations as well as on the organizations and persons directly or indirectly involved in the organized activities.The uppermost purpose of this project is to strive to increase the implementation of alternative measures to prison for juveniles and young offenders in order to increase the positive impacts which implementation of such measures would bring back into the society. This is expected to be achieved through the main activities which include training of professionals working within the juvenile justice systems in order to enhance their knowledge and skills in their work. Furthermore, we strive to strengthen the involvement of the civil society through awareness raising concerning the benefits of implementation of alternative sanctions and measures. Through the involvement of public bodies in the project we strive to a more active dialogue with the policymakers in order to achieve permanent changes in the prevailing practices and policies. The methodology that is used in this project is based on the so called “Results-based management” (RBM) which is a broad management approach with a core focus is achieving results. The RBM methodology can be defined as a “management strategy by which processes, outputs and services contribute to the achievement of clearly stated expected accomplishments and objectives. It is focused on achieving results, improving performance, integrating lessons learned into management decisions and monitoring and reporting on performance”.It is expected that approx. 400 people will have direct benefits from this project’s trainings and good practice manual namely professionals who already work within the juvenile justice systems as well as members of the civil society who wish to contribute through volunteering. Indirect beneficiaries who will benefit through the dissemination of the project are municipalities and NGOs providing community based services and of course juveniles and youth who carry the sanction/measure of community service as a consequence of a judicial decision.The partnership, which geographically covers a large part of the EU territory, consists of organizations relevant to the project’s objective and with significant experience and expertise with key persons possessing high standard scientific knowledge of the framework.
