There is no doubt as to the relevance of maritime activities for the European economy, nor that the response of the sector to the 2008 economic crisis has been increasingly focused on innovation-driven processes. These, along with the profound changes on a global scale confronted by its industries, by socio-economic and environmental drivers, pose significant challenges to the labour market. The digitization of industrial processes (automation, robotics, Internet of Things, big-data), the rising demand for more sustainable practices, a move to low-carbon energy sources, demographic and geopolitical changes, the exponential increase in accessible knowledge and data, are crucial factors in the present and future context of the maritime sector. Our proposal’s overall aim is to cover this evolution in maritime technologies and produce a strategic plan to tackle the ensuing skill shortages and contribute to a more resilient labour market, capable of adapting to new scenarios, and aiming to safeguard the well-being of present and future maritime-dependent communities and the competitiveness of the industry. Our European strategy will be based on a series of pilot case studies chosen to demonstrate the viability of the solutions identified, thus creating a platform for a long-term action plan to harness the strategy sustainability. Dissemination and awareness-raising will multiply the impact of results and increase the sectors’ attractiveness for talent and investment. Though work will focus on the shipbuilding and off-shore energy value chains, the many different traditional and emerging activities and stakeholders involved, demand a broad approach. Ocean Literacy (OL) will complement the sectoral approach as the transversal area of action. Combined efforts from education and science communities with industry, society and administration will widen the perspective of relevant knowledge and skills and increase opportunities for the labour force in an industry-led strategy.

During the whole process of the education of intellectual handicapped people the different actors involved in the education process suffer the gap of educational materials adapted to their real situation and needs. The relatively reduced number of people in this situation compared to people in ordinary education makes the publishing companies do not watch this need as a business opportunity. This makes that finally the schools and other organizations involved in the education and training of the special needs people, are currently using material produced for the very young children. But, even if in many cases the intellectual abilities of these students are similar to those of children, the emotional and personal development is totally different. We can see frequently special needs adults using educational materials developed for children, what makes them to feel unhappy and ridiculous. Besides the above mention problem, the schools must face an even bigger problem, which is the poor cooperation of the families and society in the education of the intellectual handicapped students. The work made in the school has no continuation at home, where the students ordinary stay most of the time just watching TV or without doing anything at all. The main aim of the project is to contribute to the family and social insertion of intellectual handicapped students and adults through the use of a tailor made ICT resource, which consist in an Online Platform with different resources. Throughout the project consortium has carried out the following activities:A1. Carrying out research on main needs of adults and schools in term of ICT materials to facilitate the education and training of people with intellectual disabilities. This activity aimed at bringing to the project the opinion of experts in special education related to how must be the approach and methodology for a game for special education. It was implemented with the assistance of an independent expert. A2. Develpmet of the Online Interactive PlatformThe Online platform, virtual community and real game, intellectual output of this project includes the following resources:-. A robot, which will be the element with which the user of the platform interacts. The robot will fulfil the following requirements to ensure total freedom to be copied and produced:- the development will be open-source hardware, being free the hardware design- chassis, case, wheels, etc. could entirely be made with a 3D printer. From the platform, it will be possible to control and program a physical or a virtual robot. In both scenarios, the robot will follow the instructions as scheduled. For the real robot, the board (simple processing) will be real too. -.10 Teaching Units, which have been developed by consortium partners based on the results of the research carried out and the knowledge and experience of the partners. Each unit includes 3 different levels of difficulty, in order to be adapted to the different intellectual levels of the users. -.An Online Game, which will include the same game, but to play online. It is based in the same robot, but in a virtual game and over virtual boards with the developed units. The games seek working different fields, such as orientation, sequencing, etc.A3. Testing implementation of the Online PlatformThis activity aimed at highlighting the reaction and opinion of the target group in front of the output produced inside this project. Then, partners have worked in adapting the platform according the comments, mistakes, suggestions… presented during the testing phase of the project. A4. Quality assesment of the Online PlatformThe activities produced under this project have been assessed by the partners during the whole project. Furthermore, an external evaluation of the Platform has been subcontracted during the middle stage of the project. A5. Produce a guide for implementing the gameConsortium has produced a guide to facilitate the implementation of the games by the target groups. In order to facilitate its use, the Guide was made as a video. The partners of the project are the following: Conselleria de Cultura, Educacion e Ordenacion Universitaria (Spain), coordinating organization which is the responsible for Education in Galicia Autonomus Region. Spoleczna Akademia Nauk (Poland), university with wide experience in the development of EU project in education. .Daniel Castelao - Cebem Formación Profesional SL (Spain): education centre activily involved in the development of robots and giving VET courses in electronics and ICT. Finishes and coatings are an essential element in the design and production of furniture. They determine both aesthetics and technical characteristics and functional features. They also require the review of legislative conditions related to health, safety at work and the environment. The latest innovations in finishing and coating products allow to reduce the environmental impact of the furniture, achieve greater resistance to scratching and abrasion, and meet current aesthetic requirements. At the same time, the innovations allow innovating in the final product and accessing new markets by presenting different furniture or carpentry elements. The main objective of the project is the transfer of knowledge of furniture finishes and coatings, to achieve an easier learning and a promotion of the final product innovation.Project Objectives:1) Transfer of knowledge of furniture finishes and coatings.2) Comparison of systems, finishing products and regulations between countries.3) Development of content and specific training tools in the field of furniture finishes and coatings. The joint development of the project with the participation of transnational entities has allowed greater scope and more ambitious results. Both the variety of finishing and coating products and the methods of application differ between countries: while in Estonia natural finishes, such as waxes and oils. are applied, in Spain, the United Kingdom and Italy mainly varnishes and coatings are used. The incorporation of necessary skills, knowledge and competencies on finishes and coatings requires a dynamic and fluid interaction between the FP and other actors within the innovation system at the transnational level. FUTUREfacing is based precisely on the joint work of VET providers, companies, social agents and technology centers with specific and complementary knowledge. The project consortium during its duration has developed:3.1) Intellectual products: A manual of finishes and coatings, a virtual varnish simulator and a specific database on finishes and coatings.3.2) Multiplier event: an international conference on finishes and coatings.3.3) Joint training activities for teachers.3.4) Dissemination activities: project web platform, conferences, newsletters, etc. The activities of the project have been addressed both to the students and teachers of FP as well as to the companies of the furniture sector and to the prescribers. Therefore, they have been invited to participate in all initiatives. In the case of joint training activities aimed at teachers, of the five scheduled days, one has been open to the general public. The results of the project are at all agents in the furniture's value chain disposal through its website. The manual has provided updated information about the products, the virtual simulator represents a unique opportunity to acquire or develop key skills in the application of finishes (as demonstrated in the different stays at educational centers) and the database allows to easily locate both products and suppliers.
