The project MarMOOC, entitled «apprentissage hybride mutualisé et ouvert dans les universités Marocaines» (Shared blended and open learning for Moroccan universities), aims to support a thoughtful integration and wide distribution of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as an efficient teaching support for Moroccan universities. In order to reduce the impact of massification of higher education and to improve the quality of the education delivered by Moroccan universities, MarMOOC will focus on the development of a widely shared platform, which proposes courses and innovative educational content online. In order to achieve this goal, several actions will be undertaken as part of this project:1. to foster the adoption of a blended learning approach, by promoting the use of new teaching practices such as the use of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) and Small Private Online Courses (SPOC) for small groups;2. to lead Moroccan Universities in the process of design and development of rich and innovative teaching resources in six main academic areas: business administration, law, life and physical sciences, engineering, agriculture and fishery and health;3. to provide Moroccan universities with their first Moroccan shared joint platform of SPOC and MOOC courses, named MarMOOC;4. to contribute to the opening of Moroccan universities by implementing an inclusive and “on-demand” online education model. The partners involved in this project will cooperate in logic of sharing experiences and resources in order to ensure the optimization of resources deployed for the implementation of project activities.

The extension of the responsibilities of universities recommended by the university reforms and the strategy ’Maroc Innovation’ in Morocco require the definition of a overarching tool combining the teaching of transversal competencies, research and innovation. The 3-year project INSITES coordinated by UH1 et having support from both the MESRSFC and MCINET will associate 17 partners from Morocco and EU member states. It aims at enhancing the university governance by institutionalizing the structures for innovation, knowledge transfer and valorisation of research. This should be approved by the CPU and the university councils. The results attended:- Assessment of the current situation of training methods for transversal competencies in Moroccan universities;- Summary of national strategies on innovation, valorisation and entrepreneurship;-Benchmarking of European experiences;- Competency references and guidelines for good management of the SITES;- Decisions of the Councils of Moroccan Universities on the approval of the setting up of the SITES and determining the chosen profiles based on the formerly approved references;- Training manual for specific transversal competencies in the Moroccan context in line with the European referencies;- Training sessions for training the trainers;- The SITES functions operationally at the Moroccan Universities;- Data base of trainers as resource persons for the generalization of experiences for all Moroccan universities;- National platform of the SITES serving as interface between institutional and economic actors;- Evaluation of the SITES;- A Communication and a Project QA Plan will be set up to ensure the quality, the dissemination and the sustainability of the project beyond its implementation period. A Charter of Good Conduct will be defined to ensure the involvement of all stakeholders and that the realization of activities of the project complies with the general rules and good project management principles.

In order to improve the valorization of the benefits of training and experience in Moroccan universities, promote orientation, mobility and training throughout life and enable companies to have visibility of the laureates’ skills, the project proposes to implement an e-portfolio approach and an e-VAL platform within the Moroccan partner universities. The project starts from the observation of the lack of an intelligent interface allowing the student to capitalize his experiences and cultivate his digital identity, the governance of the university to develop its digital visibility and businesses to better read the skills at the source. We will proceed to an investigation in the Moroccan partner universities, which will enable us to highlight the real needs and expectations. We will then schedule trainings presenting the European partners’ good practices in the field in additions to transfers of expertise, skills and personnel training within the Moroccan partner universities. This pedagogical approach will be supported by actions aimed at professional recognition both by the universities and by the socio-economic community. The e-VAL platform designed through an approach in network technology will be developed by mixed teams, implemented and then evaluated. This technical device integrated into the partner universities’ information system will have to guarantee the consistency and comprehensiveness of the e-portfolio approach in line with the needs of the Moroccan socio-economic fabric. The bulk of the action will focus on awareness-raising, training in the importance e-portfolio approach, conception then experimentation with e-VAL platform. Once stabilized at the end of the project, the platform will be evaluated and submitted for recognition by the supervising ministry, guarantee of the continuity of e-VAL project actions.

With the rise of deep learning (DL), our world braces for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in every edge device, creating an urgent need for edge-AI processing hardware. Unlike existing solutions, this hardware needs to support high throughput, reliable, and secure AI processing at ultra-low power (ULP), with a very short time to market. With its strong legacy in edge solutions and open processing platforms, the EU is ideally positioned to become the leader in this edge-AI market. However, certain roadblocks keep the EU from assuming this leadership role: Edge processors need to become 100x more energy efficient; Their complexity demands automated design with 10x design time reduction; They must be secure and reliable to get accepted; Finally, they should be flexible and powerful to support the DL domain. CONVOLVE addresses these roadblocks and thereby enables EU leadership in Edge-AI. To that end, it will take a holistic approach with innovations at all design stack levels, including: 1.ULP memristive circuits for computation-in-memory 2.Fast compositional design of System-on-Chips (SoC) 3.Transparent compilers supporting automated code optimizations and domain-specific languages 4.Rethinking DL models through dynamic neural networks, event-based execution, and sparsity 5.On-edge continuous learning for improved accuracy, self-healing, and reliable adaptation to non-stationary environments 6.Holistic integration in SoCs supporting secure execution with real-time guarantees The CONVOLVE consortium includes some of Europe's strongest research groups and industries, covering the whole design stack and value chain. In a community effort, we will demonstrate Edge-AI computing in real-life vision and audio domains. By combining these innovative ULP and fast design solutions, CONVOLVE will, for the first time, enable reliable, smart, and energy-efficient edge-AI devices at a rapid time-to-market and low cost, and as such open the road for EU leadership in edge-processing.
