Obesity is increasingly affecting young women and is contributing to the increase in maternal and neonatal complications during pregnancy. Maternal obesity contributes to the subsequent development of obesity in children, not only through social and environmental mechanisms, but also through biological processes referring to the concept of developmental origins of health and disease (DOHaD). Evidence suggests that maternal obesity management through maternal nutrition counseling and physical activity during pregnancy would reduce these risks. However, the implementation of this type of program is limited by their cost and the necessary human resources. In addition, new web technologies (website, application, connected tools) are increasingly used in health. They could be less costly and effective tools to accompany patients. However, their effectiveness and value have been poorly assessed. We aim to study a personalized intervention program called ePPOPP (electronic Personnalized Program for Obesity in Pregnancy and Post-partum) to support obese and overweight women during the pregnancy and the postpartum period, using emerging technologies (website, application for smartphones, tablets and computers, and connected objects). The objective of this program will be to make recommendations on lifestyle (nutrition and physical activity for pregnant women) based on evidence based medicine and using motivational levers derived from work in human and social sciences. The effectiveness and relevance of this program will be evaluated on a clinical and biological side, but also through human sciences and medico-economic tools. The development of this program and its dissemination in Europe will require a network including actors involved in improving maternal and child health, in particular in relation to obesity and specialized in the different axes of development and evaluation of the project. The network and the proposal will be coordinated by Prof. Philippe Deruelle (CHRU of Lille, University of Lille). Prof. Gernot Desoye (Biologist, Graz), Roland Devliegre (Gyn-Obs, Leuven), Prof. Umberto Siméoni (neonatologist, Lausanne) and Tracy Roberts (Health economics, Birmingham) have agreed to invest in this project. The Funding requested under the MRSEI Call for Proposals will allow meetings between the network members to develop and write the response to the call Horizon 2020 SC1-BHC-19-2019: Implementation Research for Maternal and Child health ". This budget will also make possible to extend the consortium to other key players. It is planned to organize an international meeting to address the topic of the management of obesity during pregnancy, which will allow to widely inform about the constitution of this network and the project and to open to other partners, in particular patient associations and political actors. Indeed, the participation of patient associations and the collaboration of the political actors is essential for the dissemination and support of the project.
