    The adoption of Industry 4.0 by developed countries poses a significant threat to other countries and nations. It is expected that each country will face a number of challenges related to the skill level of its employees. Industry 4.0 will provide expertise in information technology, data analytics… in the industrial sectors. The result is a growing need for skilled employees trained in cross-cutting areas and capable of managing new processes and information systems. The aim of this project is to build Skills 4.0 THrough UniversitY and Entreprise Collaboration (SHYFTE) by analysing the gap between the skills acquired in HEIs and the skills required by industry 4.0, and develop a new model of emergent skills in line with the needs of the industry of the future. To provide a performant job market platform in Thailand, China and Malaysia. SHYFTE project will provide an emergent skill development strategy in both EU and Asia with main focus on four research domains: Industrial engineering and management, Software Engineering and Big data analytics, Wireless and Networks analytics, and Artificial Intelligence by incorporating the competencies of all partners to fill the skill gap in Asian partner countries. The overall aims of SHYFTE project are:- To support academic and administrative staff in Asian HEIs to design and implement new methodology and learning materials to enhance and improve the competences and skills related to Industry 4.0. That will enable HEIs organizations aligning their learning program strategy both to the requirements of the regional industry and the global labor market. - To build and strengthen links between HEIs and Industry 4.0, and promote the job market by minimizing the skills gap.- To build Skills 4.0 LABs or Learning centers of excellence in Asian Partner's HEIs to enable each of them to become the reference center in its country and disseminate the outcomes of the project nationally and regionally.

    Asian Family Businesses (FB) are the backbone of the Asian economy, however the specific characteristics of family businesses which can affect their longevity and their competitiveness remain unexplored. More efforts should be directed towards studying the contribution of family businesses to establish the proper institutional frameworks to support their longevity. In this context the project aims to create a new Master’s programme in the specialized academic area of FB Management in total 16 HEIs of Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal, that is as much absent from HEI programmes in the Partner Countries (PC) involved as it is needed. The FAB curriculum will incorporate novel entrepreneurial theories, business models and innovative management tools fostering new family entrepreneurs, but also promoting entrepreneurial behaviour (including innovation) in existing family firms.Beyond coursework, the program will be structured around:- industry placement, in family businesses;- ‘FB Centers of Excellence’ in PC HEIs that will act as foci for research and innovation in the area;- country-specific VET online courses (MOOCs), introducing PC HEIs in the MOOC era;- digital learning, to allow modern forms of learning, as well as to enable contribution from experts across the globe in the development of the program;- promote cooperation, exchange of know-how and good practices in the subject area between EU and PC HEIs;-establish viable synergies and links with family businesses in order to address their needs in specialized personnel and enhance the employability of FAB graduates;-contribute to local economic growth, by providing to program participants the right knowledge/skills/tools to turn the local family-business sector into a driver of social and economic growth;-promote dialogue between the academic sector, family businesses and policy/decision makers in PC and help convey the concerns faced by FB into policy consultation processes.

    The SEASIN project has supported and promoted social innovation as a means to achieve sustainable and inclusive socio-economic growth, social cohesion and equity in South East Asia, through intercultural, curricular and extracurricular activities. It has achieved this by establishing Social Innovation Support Units (SISU) within the Partner Countries to promote and support University-social enterprise cooperation, social entrepreneurship and graduate employability with a particular emphasis on social innovation projects, incubation and training. A range of learning and teaching tools have been developed, at a formal level through the development of doctoral and postgraduate programmes and more informally through CPD training of stakeholders in social innovation as well as through books and reports and a social innovation platform – a virtual space for sharing social innovation practices and learning outcomes (both at a regional and a local level) as well as facebook and other media. The project has established international cooperation and internationalisation through a network of SISUs across the region and beyond, introducing a training, mentoring and transfer scheme to ensure that there is an effective roll-out that extends outside the original partnership. In addition, the project has specifically involved local communities and in particular disadvantaged groups to give them access to University facilities and strengthen the ties between HEIs and their local social environment. Two HEI partners represented each Partner country (Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand), along with three social enterprise from the region (Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia) who lent their specific experience of delivering social innovation training and other initiatives. The EU Partners – three HEIs (Scotland, Portugal and Spain) and a global social innovation network (UK based) - offered a wide experience of delivering international innovation projects and embedding social innovative initiatives within their own institutions. The project partners have also created a global social innovation network with a virtual platform for users from all over the world to engage with each other, manage projects and access online tools to help support their growth in the future.

    Knowledge-based societies are underpinned by solid capacities in Intellectual Property (IP), research and innovation (R&I). These three pillars are closely interrelated, being sound IP practice instrumental in managing R&I effectively. The increased sophistication of research and global demand for competitive R&I conform challenging scenarios for HEIs, particularly in regions with unsteady IP systems, such as the ASEAN, where IP legislation and performance differs from country to country. The endeavours made at the regional level to align IP practice with international standards need to be supplemented with institutional actions of different nature if HEIs genuinely aspire to become active components in the innovation chain.Against this background, SPIRE’s overall objective is contributing to the effectiveness of R&I management at the PC HEIs by enhancing IP capacities at three complementary levels, thereby addressing major difficulties identified in the target ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand): ➢ Knowledge & kills of staff and students, by transferring good practices from EU HEIs, and implementing the Capacity Building Programme (on-site/online) for professional development;➢ Infrastructure & policy, by setting up IP Management Units (IPMUs) at HEIs to provide comprehensive and centralised IP assistance, and formulating/upgrading institutional IP policies; and ➢ Regional cooperation, by promoting regional-wide initiatives, such as a functional IP Network for HEIs, able to pass on experiences from more advanced countries to less developed ones and boost improvement.

    The overall objective of the FOODI project is to enhance the institutional capacity of 10 HEI in Malaysia, Cambodia and Thailand by developing a new innovative MS Programme in Food Processing & Innovation. The purpose of the MSc Programme in Food Processing & Innovation is to educate aspiring food entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, government officials, and food industry professionals in the end-to-end value chain of food processing: from understanding the elements of food, to starting a new venture for disrupting and enriching the food processing industry in Asia. The overarching goal is to enable Programme participants to apply, develop and communicate knowledge in the cross-field between food, health and innovation. To do so, they will be educated in innovation, entrepreneurship, food science/engineering, and elements of social science. Also, beyond coursework, the program will be structured around: a) industry placement, in relevant businesses, government agencies, etc.; b) digital learning, to allow modern forms of learning, as well as to enable contribution from experts across the globe in the development of the program; c) promote cooperation, exchange of know-how and good practices in the subject area between EU and PC HEIs;d) establish viable synergies and links with the regional food industry in order to address their needs in specialized personnel, and enhance the employability of FOODI graduates;e) contribute to local economic growth, by providing to program participants the right knowledge/skills/tools to turn the local food processing sector into a driver of social and economic growth;
