It is also accessible to everyone, not only the traditional art audiences. Public art is a way to make a living for many artists and the money spent on it is comparatively large. Therefore it should be included in the curricula of all art colleges in a versatile manner because making public art can be profitable and rewarding for both the artist and the public. The professional methods of co-operation and public engagement process are important development factors in making public art meaningful to all parties. The European HEIs that educate professional artists are in very different levels in the teaching of public art and including it in their curricula. PARTGO improves the state and position of public art in the art college context. The project partners are European HEIs from Finland, Estonia, Hungary and Ireland who offer approximately 200 art and media students and 30 teachers and professors a possibility to develop their professional skills in the field of public art. The participants can represent the field of visual arts (painting, drawing, photography etc.) or media (tv, film, animation, media production or journalism). PARTGO project objectives are:1) Increasing knowledge and skills of public art among the project partnership and art education institutions around Europe, especially in public engagement and public relations2) Developing new study modules and integrating public art into the curricula of the participating HEIs3) Mutual learning and sharing the results among the multinational partner consortium and beyond. These objectives will be achieved by1) studying the ways public art is taught in art colleges across Europe and finding out the big picture and best practices of European curricula in public art 2) sharing experiences and learning about the international practices of teaching public art 3) planning and executing new international pilot courses/modules in interesting public art locations in all partner countries 4) publishing a toolkit publication of teaching public art based on the project experiences and pilot modules 5) restructuring the curricula of participating HEIs to foster public art During the project the partners plan and execute public art works in various sites, learn new techniques and ways of collaboration with the public. The artworks, either permanent or temporary, will be the very concrete results of the project. Transnational collaboration enriches the co-operation on local sites within the pilot course modules. As a concrete result of the pilot modules the materials and documentation from four different pilot course modules taught in Turku, Finland, Tallinn, Estonia, Dublin, Ireland and Budapest, Hungary will be collected into four public art concepts. The concepts and will be collected to a digital public art toolkit publication that will also include concrete and detailed instructions for working with different clients, countries and techniques. After the project the publication will be available online and work as teaching material for public art teachers everywhere. It can also be used as an introduction to public art processes in the fields of architecture, real estate development, building and construction or institutions who are interested in public art investment. The participating students and teachers learn new methods and approaches on public art, which is a lasting impact as they will then be able to use in their work as artists and artist teachers. Their international working skills and contacts also improve when they work together with the international project team. The employability of graduating art students improves when their public art skills are better and they have courage and knowledge on working with different clients. The quality of the curricula and teaching of the participating art colleges improve as they collaborate, create and carry out the pilot study modules and adapt them to their curricula. This impact will also affect the next student generations. The organisations gain new connections to stakeholders and get more publicity to their work in the field of public art.

The aim of the project was to provide teenagers across Europe with opportunities to develop a range of digital literacy skills; to provide them with a virtual space to showcase their work and to network with peers; to expose them to the wide range of possible careers in this evolving sector and to identify pathways they can follow into further education and future employment in the field of digital media. Project objectives were: 1. Set-up and run a ‘Creative Lab’ in each partner country engaging a group of youth learners and their tutors. Evaluate and assess youth’s needs and skills in terms of the digital media. Introduce them to the variety of digital media jobs through meetings with business representatives.2. Produce a structured Digital Pathways Programme that develops a range of digital skills that can be delivered in any informal learning setting across Europe.3. Develop CPD Materials for Digital mentors so they are empowered to lead and facilitate the learning workshops.4. Organise Workshops and study visits to partner countries for digital mentors. 5. Validate the Digital Pathways Programme and CPD materials for Digital mentors with youth learners across all partner countries, placing a strong emphasis on young people creating and sharing their work and ideas online.6. Provide youth across partner countries with meaningful career guidance engaging representatives from the industry, schools and parents. 7. Disseminate the project outcomes across EU member States. The project assisted 57 teenagers in Ireland, Germany and Poland developing their digital competences outside of the school setting and developed a robust teaching model that supported young people’s learning in an out of school setting, in their community. The focus of the project was on young people creating digital artefacts and in the process developing skills - both technical and soft skills. There is evidence that schools across Europe struggle to provide such learning opportunities so there is a real need to provide them in non-formal learning spaces. Based on that the following two outputs were developed over the two years of the project aimed at youth organisations, tutors and learners: 1. Digital Pathways Programme The programme consists of: a set of learning modules, a set of ‘taster sessions’ and a set of digital artefacts. The structure allows young people to work together and develop digital skills in areas such as film making, game development, animation and social media. During these ‘taster sessions’ they have a chance to explore some specific areas of digital media, as well as engage with people from across the digital media industry. In this way, young people can link their ‘fun’ out-of-school activities with the real world of work.2. CPD materials for Digital mentors. The project developed a set of CPD materials for Digital Mentors to support them in preparation and delivery of Digital Pathways programme. The CPD materials provide guidance on developing strategies and approaches that have already proven successful in engaging young people with digital media. The materials showcase how Digital Mentors can support young people to learn and develop digital media skills in collaboration with their peers, both in face-to-face settingsand online. The project outputs are freely available in English, German and Polish languages through the project webiste: www.digitalpathways.euThe target groups for the project were:• Youth organisations• Youth education providers• Youth tutors and practitioners• Digital media industry representatives • Policy Makers• Research Bodies and ExpertsDigital Pathways has involved partners from Ireland, Germany and Poland. In Ireland, the project has been coordinated by H2 Learning and involved the Digital Hub Development Agency (DHDA) and the National College of Art and Design (NCAD). In Germany, the project has involved MFG Baden-Württemberg mbH, Public Innovation Agency for IT and Media while in Poland the project partner was the Krzyzowa Foundation that implement various projects, including artistic, educational, civic and sports and training for the youth, teachers and youth leaders.

It provides a body of findings that can be easily accessed by commissioning agencies, policy makers and publics through its open source web-site (spacex-rise.eu). SPACEX aims to test, map, analyse, communicate and maximise the ways in which spatial practices in art, architecture and design instigate public exchange and promote empathetic ways of living together in urban space. It responds to the troubling rise of populist nationalism and conflict in European societies by engaging new publics and forging a culture that embraces diversity, difference, and discursive exchange within cities, towns and urban sites. The lack of interdisciplinary knowledge by those working in the cultural sector has significantly affected the way in which the social benefit of cultural activities is understood, articulated and applied. SPACEX proposes that inventing new and inclusive ways of living together, requires the implementation of new transdisciplinary and cross-sectoral practices and methods, that connect spatial practice with cultural sociology, cultural policy, critical pedagogies and behavioural economics. The comprehensive transdisciplinary composition of the SPACEX consortium- 27 partners in 9 EU countries and 1 TC, Palestine – will enable its ERs and ESRs to undertake secondments in a range of world-renowned academic institutions, research institutes, arts organisations, biennials, urban agencies, a film festival and a creative media agency.
