Karazin Kharkiv National University,LSTC,UPF,GU,ZAVOD APIS,UG,HUGFunder: European Commission Project Code: 101178269Overall Budget: 2,986,770 EURFunder Contribution: 2,986,770 EURThe general objective of MAGnituDe is to enhance citizen participation through preventing polarisation and the fragmentation of identities related to mass displacement in response to Russia’s war in Ukraine by utilizing affect as a tool, tapping into the sensuous, emotional, and corporeal dimensions of human experience. MAGnituDe explores the consequences of mass migration caused by Russia’s invasion for European democracy and provides evidence-based strategies to reinvigorate democratic governance in response to the negative social consequences of the war for European societies. MAGnituDe utilises the feminist concept of affective geopolitics to analyse how geopolitical narratives and imaginations shape everyday human encounters through which social, political, and cultural identities get constructed and contested. The project explores human encounters on 3 levels: 1) migrant-state (between forcibly displaced people from Ukraine (FDPs) and street-level bureaucrats); 2) migrant-migrant (between FDPs and migrants from Belarus, Russia, and Syria), and 3) migrant-host societies (FDPs encounters with the material culture of host societies). To study the affective dimension of human encounters and identities and to suggest attuned political interventions fostering democratic participation in the sensitive context of the war, MAGnituDe develops and implements an innovative affect-centred methodological framework based on SensArticulate methods, encompassing art-based, experiential, and embodied techniques. MAGnituDe advances an innovative methodology for comprehensive analysis of the interrelations between social, cultural, and political identities, as well as the sense of belonging, and democracies (EO1), which will be used to formulate policy recommendations and pilot strategies preventing discrimination, alienation and marginalisation (EO2) and to diffuse antagonistic identities and social norms (EO3).

Karazin Kharkiv National University,University of Innsbruck,CBS,UPEC,ESCP EuropeFunder: European Commission Project Code: 101169098Funder Contribution: 4,267,580 EURThe SEIZMIC Doctoral Network represents an ambitious endeavor to catalyze scalable social entrepreneurship (SE) across Europe. Addressing a critical gap in the social entrepreneurship landscape, SEIZMIC aims to unravel the complex dynamics of scaling social enterprises, focusing on external replication and imitation to magnify societal impact. This project is particularly pertinent given the noted scarcity of SE scaling, a phenomenon that limits the societal reach of innovative solutions. At the core of SEIZMIC's mission is the development of an interdisciplinary and cross-sectorial research framework. The network harnesses expertise from diverse fields such as entrepreneurship, finance, education, and technology management, aiming to synthesize these into a cohesive theoretical framework. This integrative approach is designed to overcome entrenched interdisciplinary barriers and equip a new generation of researchers with the competencies necessary for advancing SE scaling. The research program is structured around five key Work Packages (WPs), each addressing a distinct aspect of SE scaling: Shifting paradigms to Social Business Model Design (WP2), Impact Investing for SE Scaling (WP3), Competencies and Education for SE Scaling (WP4), and the Role of Digital Ecosystems and AI in SE Scaling (WP5). These WPs involve innovative methodologies, including case studies, surveys, AI-driven mentoring, and digital transformation analyses, ensuring a comprehensive exploration of SE scaling.

It aims:(1) To improve the practice of doctoral training and professionalise its governance by integrating PhD programs dealing with environmental policy, management and technology in 7 PCIs to 3 nationwide integrated doctoral schools (INTENSE NIDS), based on common Code of Operational Practices & research framework (COP & RF), and consolidating these schools into the INTENSE International Network.(2) To enhance doctoral training provision by integrating and upgrading existing learning contents that can be used for doctoral provision (total 80 ECTS by M36), infrastructure for accessing the courses and setting&monitoring flexible research training trajectories and their progression (INTENSE open education platform, including sustainable mechanisms for its development and maintenance) and shared access to research facilities.INTENSE will offer PhD students customized training trajectories and options to enrol on the courses, which will contribute to the progression of PhD theses; the IT infrastructure will provide access to the e-courses (including MOOCs) collected from all the PCIs belonging to INTENSE, from the full range of disciplinary fields related to environmental policy, management and technology, and to eScience modules creating individual learning portfolio.(3) To build the capacity of PhD students to improve their published output, through a strengthened multidisciplinary approach to doctoral training, aided by facilitating access to global and EU research networks (including facilitation of academic mobility), development of transferable skills, promotion of joint research/supervision arrangements & interdisciplinary & practice-oriented thesis topics.
