Adult education program in agriculture has reached a significant level of importance. Local academic systems should accept responsibility for offering adult education programs that meet the needs of the agriculture/agribusiness industry and entrepreneurs. In modern times, generation and application of agricultural knowledge demand that people working and seeking jobs in agriculture academic and business sector pursue education beyond secondary schools. Local adult agriculture programs can address this demand through carefully prepared and evidence based curricula provision. Project objectives are therefore structured to enhance the cooperation between academia and business sectors in agriculture field and to particularly address the training needs of adult agriculture educators who are the primary target group of the project that will consequently improve the system of adult education in the field of agriculture and rural development in Europe wide communities in the East and South.Through its milestone activities grouped under training courses, webinars, online platform and web site development, Methodology and training syllabus on establishing and operating the LLL agri-units within open-university approach and setting up of the LLL agri-units, the Agri Base project will target 300 adult agriculture educators per country (3000 in total) who will be the key resource for further impact and long term benefits in the cooperation between academia and business sector in the field. The consortium approach in forming the Value Added Partnership will have a multiplier effect in terms of: (1) Access to a broader and higher quality range of professional development; (2) Stronger platform for succession planning and dissemination; (3) Better use of resources; (4) Increased innovation potential of wider European regions, and (5) Fostered potential for replication, sustainability and impact in a number of European agricultural communities in the East and South.

This will be achieved by putting together previous knowledge and experience of Project partners, as well as national and international test trainings and events with direct involvement of learners - tourism stakeholders - to ensure maximum adjustment to learners' needs as well as applicability and durability of the results.<< Results >>The main outcome of the Project will be the joint methodology for training tourism stakeholders in and around Protected Areas. Freely available for anyone online it will comprise ready-to-use training programmes for main groups of tourism stakeholders in Protected areas - accommodation and cafe owners, activity providers, guides, destination managers etc. The programmes will include sample agendas, topics, presentations, links, materials, etc.

First, we know little about which incentives effectively motivate farmers to integrate biodiversity into daily farm management. Second, few studies so far have produced evidence that biodiversity-based approaches produce benefits in terms of key variables for farmers (yield, profit). Third, there is a large communication gap between the scientists investigating biodiversity-based farming practices and the farmers that have to implement them. To overcome these barriers, SHOWCASE will review and test the effectiveness of a range of economic and societal incentives to implement biodiversity management in farming operations and examine farmer and public acceptance. Focus will be on three promising approaches: (i) result-based incentives, (ii) involvement in citizen science biodiversity monitoring and (iii) biodiversity-based business models. SHOWCASE will co-produce together with stakeholders a solid interdisciplinary evidence for the agro-ecological and socio-economic benefits of biodiversity management in 10 contrasting farming systems across Europe. SHOWCASE will also design communication strategies that are tailor-made to farmers and other key stakeholders operating in different socio-economic and environmental conditions. SHOWCASE will develop a multi-actor network of 10 Experimental Biodiversity Areas in contrasting European farming systems that will be used for in-situ research on biodiversity incentives and evidence for benefits as well as knowledge exchange. This network will be used to identify and test biodiversity indicators and targets relevant to all stakeholders and use them in a learning-by-doing approach to improve benefits of biodiversity management on farms both within the network and beyond.

It focuses on practical agroecological solutions for farm and land management and related value chains. AGROMIX makes use of a network of 83 sites with Mixed Farming (MF), AgroForestry (AF) or value chain stakeholder networks, which are used to measure, design, model, test and improve these systems. A nested approach will be used to conduct 12 co-design pilots across Europe. In addition, 6 replicated long-term trial sites are used for detailed analysis (crops and livestock). AGROMIX has six specific objectives: 1) Unlock the full potential of synergies in MF/AF systems. 2) Develop and promote value chains and infrastructure for MF/AF produce. 3) Develop the MIX-A toolkit to co-design and manage MF/AF systems in practice. 4) Identify and model transition scenarios. 5) Develop policy recommendations and action plans for a successful transition. 6) Maximise the impact and legacy of the project for building low-carbon climate-resilient farming systems. AGROMIX uses a transdisciplinary multi-actor research approach with 10 universities, 7 research institutes and 11 multi-actor partners. It will use Reflexive Interactive Design methodology to include stakeholders in participatory co-design and implementation of MF/AF systems. The research starts with a work package (WP1) on context, co-creating a resilience framework. WP2 on systems design and synergies is at the heart of project. WP3 on indicators and scenarios will refine the greenhouse gas inventories for MF/AF systems and model transition scenarios. WP4 develops and tests the MIX-application/serious game. Further WPs are on economics and value chains, and on policy co-development, action plans and dissemination delivering impact and exploitation through practical innovations on farms, in value chains, at different policy levels and through communication and knowledge hubs across Europe.
