There is an urgent unmet need for improved ways to detect and treat cancer. The iCAN flagship aims to provide solutions to this challenge through discoveries and innovations at the interface of precision cancer medicine and digital health. In a large pan-cancer project, iCAN integrates detailed information from tumors with other health and lifestyle data in a novel way. The improved understanding of tumor development in the context of other tissues, including the immune system, enables discovery of new targets for diagnostics and treatment. The aim of the flagship is to leverage these breakthroughs for improved personalized treatments and to facilitate the implementation of precision cancer medicine. The active participation of patients at all levels is a key element ensuring benefits to the patients. Partnerships with companies from pharma, biotech, and AI sectors are critical and enable inclusion of early drug leads, new technologies, and development of the competence cluster.
