Speciically, our understanding was taht SRE materials needed to be rights based and address the multiple identities of young people. Our basic assumptions, based on initial research were that some countries in Europe were far advanced in supporting effectie SRE. While, a second cohort of countries, including Ireland were not. The project specifically targetted and engaged with this latter cohort through partnering with ECYC. ECYC unites 20 member organisations in 18 Council of Europe member states. Together, they reach 2 million young people in Europe every year.Further research that took place in the lifetime of the project (Sexulalty education in Europe and Central Asia, IPPF, 2019) evidenced our assumptions. According to the IPPF, 14 of 25 countries have comprehensive Sex Education with an increasing prevalence of rights - based approach. In 11 countries sex education is either simple biological information or non- existent. Further, analysis of the European memmbers of our partner ECYC found a strong overlap between these 14 countries and the 18 member states of ECYC. Further, taking a rights-based view, ECYC is remarkable for containing a high proportion of the lowest ranking member states in Europe in relation to protections and rights for LGBT+ young people including the lowest two ranked states overall.Focused engagement with ECYC provided an opportunity to:1. Engage in participatory development to understand waht SRE materials wuld be fit for purpose in youth work settings in states were rights-based SRE was non-existent2. Develop fit for purpose education pack and traning of trainers3. Develop and deploy an online learning platform for SRE4. Develop policy initatitives to bind ECYC members to implementing SRE educationThe report that follows details the steps taken to achive these outcomes, the indicators of success and the overall learning from developing and implementing these products.

For further information contact us at helpdesk@openaire.euassignment_turned_in ProjectPartners:DYNAMO INTERNATIONAL ASBL, LOGO jugendmanagement gmbh, Aseman Lapset ry, NATIONAL YOUTH FEDERATION COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE, STIFTELSEN FRYSHUSETDYNAMO INTERNATIONAL ASBL,LOGO jugendmanagement gmbh,Aseman Lapset ry,NATIONAL YOUTH FEDERATION COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE,STIFTELSEN FRYSHUSETFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2020-2-IE01-KA205-066117Funder Contribution: 46,140 EURThe project addresses the social economic impact of the l COVID-19 pandemic on young people in Europe, focusing on those socially excluded. A consequence of lockdown is that the number of young people disconnected from employment, education and training supports will increase. In Ireland, for example, young people have been disproportionately affected by Covid 19 unemployment (ESRI, 2020). Lockdown has caused discontinuity of service for youth. Those young people previously facing challenges are likely to have experienced a complete disconnect from services and supports and will now need new supports to transition back into services. MethodologyWe adopt a view of a continuum of inclusion/exclusion and focus on young people who are most highly excluded and least likely to transition successfully from lockdown. At this end of the continuum we expect to find social issues such as radicalisation, anti-authority behaviour, and rejection of prosocial norms, which will be addressed in the project findings. Radicalisation, be it far-right or faith-based, has been an issue of growing concern for the EU for a number of years, in particular in relation to marginalised, hard to reach young people. This can only be expected to rise with the recession that COVID-19 has triggered, leading to further reduction in education and employment opportunities, the collapse of some civic society organisations, and broader damage to the societal fabric. Also in the context of the COVID-19 crisis we note a growth in less usual types of radicalisation and the emergence of new types of extremist ideas and networks based on conspiracy theories and fake news, much of which will be exploited by radical recruiting groups. We are also seeing a rapid rise in anti-authority behaviour. The timing of this project is such that we will be ready to examine, as soon as it occurs after the summer of 2020, the new landscape created by the lockdown situation for hard-to-reach young people (isolation, lessening of usual connections, increased exposure to negative home or online influences - potentially radical/ violent). This window of time is ideal as all young people, even NEETS are tied to the school year cycle. September will be the commencement of the next transition in the lives of young people and their failure or success in this transition will emerge fully at this time. The expertise within the consortium allows us to engage with this new landscape to include both traditional street work, online work, anti-radicalisation work, youth information etc ResultsOur objectives are to work with partners to:Understand the emerging needs of young people experiencing social exclusion, and the interventions to effectively connect them Research and document adaptations and best practices in Detached work relevant to the new situation and evidence for effectiveness and challenges in this workPublish a case study collection to capture the experience of young people, youth workers and service managers in effectively connecting young people who were previously socially excludedCreate a Detached Youth Work Practice Framework Disseminate this work as widely as possible among the Detached Youth workers profession as well as any related organizations, agencies, networks, policy makers etcParticipants The partners from Sweden, Ireland, Finland, Austria and Belgium, were chosen based on relevant specialist expertise, to bring together a complementary set of skills and experience; together we can produce resources that will be applicable across Europe. The partners are varied in size, specialisation and ways of working; this will help us to distill what is essential to good Detached Work.As well as the staff directly involved in the project (10 in total), this project will consult and inform the wider profession of Detached workers through our research and through the dissemination of the published results via our local, national and European networks. Impact and longer term benefitsThere are three outcome objectives planned, which will respectively achieve the following impacts and longer term benefits:RESEARCH EVIDENCE of EMERGING needs, effective interventions and a CASE FOR SUPPORT will ensure that youth service providers, planners and commissioners will be better able to provide services for socially excluded young people because their knowledge of emerging needs will inform their plans and policies The evidence of these needs will allow them to acquire the support of their stakeholders. ACTIONABLE KNOWLEDGE at the service and policy design level will help youth service providers, providers, planners and commissioners to implement actionable strategies to support socially excluded young people.Practice support resources will increase effective practice by providing ACTIONABLE KNOWLEDGE and continuous improvement at the practice level resulting in improved ability to connect with and meet the needs of socially excluded young people.

The goals are the substantial reduction of plastics and microplastics in all areas. While the reduction of plastic packaging is directly visible in one's own waste volume and there are alternatives, the role of clothing in the plastics problem is largely unknown. Especially cheap textiles are mostly made of synthetic materials, i.e. plastics. Due to a short service life and abrasion during washing, large quantities of plastic and microplastic are produced. Clothing alone accounts for 35% of the microplastics generated by washing synthetic materials (IUCN, 2017). A city with 100,000 inhabitants emits microfibres equivalent to 15,000 plastic bags every day by washing them into the water (Hartline et al. 2016). . In addition, fashion chains often destroy cheap synthetic garments, often by burning them, as it is more cost-effective for them. Due to rapidly changing trends and changing clothing sizes (growth), the target group of young people in particular buys a large number of synthetic garments at low prices. PROJECT OBJECTIVES:- Raising young people's awareness of plastics in clothing throughout the entire product life cycle - To develop alternatives for an environmentally conscious and yet affordable way of dealing with fashion- To train peer guides and youth workers in order to achieve the widest possible dissemination of the project results beyond the duration of the project. ACTIVITIES AND METHODOLOGYYoung people will be included at all stages of the project. In O1 focus group interviews take place, which allow a problem exploration from the point of view of the young people, in order to know the problem awareness and the requirements for solutions of the young people. A research and best practice collection provides the basis for further solutions and gives an overview of country-specific differences. In O2, learning materials are developed that provide an educational basis for a sustainable approach to clothing. The content is designed to be competence-oriented and didactically geared to young people and made accessible via a state-of-the-art e-learning platform. In order to develop concrete alternatives for action, in O3 Design Thinking workshops will be organized. The best ideas are recorded in Setcard format. A guide for the training of peer guides and youth workers will be developed to disseminate results as widely as possible, all documents will be put together on a resource toolbox website. In order to make the acquired knowledge tangible and to further develop practical solutions for sustainable clothing, a haptic toolbox will be assembled in O4. NUMBER AND PROFILE OF PARTICIPANTSWe invite young people and youth workers from AT, PL, LT and IT to actively participate. In particular, young people with cultural differences, economic or geographical obstacles are involved. In total 48 young people and 8 youth workers from 4 project countries will participate in 2 LTT events.RESULTSAre available Europe-wide, with unlimited acess in 5 languages (EN, DE, LT, PL, IT). Most important results are:- Report from the results of the focus group interviews on problem exploration and research in the project countries.- A best practice collection with instructions for existing alternatives for plastic avoidance in clothing- Learning material in printable and digital form: 4 units of min. 15 pages each- 8 SetCards (min.) illustrating alternatives for action developed in workshops as digital and analog resources- A resource toolbox website that provides all information in the areas of INFORMATION/EDUCATION/ACTION ALTERNATIVES/MATERIAL FOR PEER GUIDES AND YOUTH WORKERS- A haptic toolbox with materials that can be practically used to avoid plastic in clothing (e.g. upcycling material, wash bags, fabric samples). This results in a combination of digital knowledge and real experience.IMPACTS AND LONG-TERM BENEFITSWear(e)able not only offers awareness-raising and know-how for young people in the sustainable use of clothing, but also concentrates on concrete alternatives for action. Contents are conveyed digitally and analogously and the training of peer guides, youth workers and other multipliers is a focal point of the project. A special focus is on the long-term and broad dissemination of the results on a local, national and international level. To this end, we make use of the broad network of the consortium, including youth organisations, environmental protection initiatives, municipalities, schools and other stakeholders. The open source access to all project outputs will be guaranteed for at least 5 years after project end. Our aimed impact is to initiate a broad debate on plastic in clothing and the fast fashion phenomenon, and to equip as many young people as possible with the tools to contribute to this development."

BACKGROUND“Fake news” and “fake facts” have become not only fashionable keywords but actual threats to democratic values. Especially young people, who spend increasing amounts of time on the internet and with social media, are targeted by fake news for propaganda and/or profit reasons. Therefore, they need empowerment and knowledge to outsmart the flow of intentional misinformation through critical thinking and improved internet literacy (e.g. fact-checking abilities). Although initiatives to foster these competencies have been initiated by educators and corporations, adequate didactic means to foster digital literacy skills have been missing in the sphere of youth work until now. PROJECT OBJECTIVESTo create an innovation in youth work on an international level, tackling the issue of fake news and provide solutions for the target groups of young people and youth workers, a GENERAL DIDACTIC CONCEPT, providing up-to-date information on the topic and state-of-the-art TRAINING MATERIAL, including a game-based approach for young people within an APP, have been developed. With these project results we aimed at: - increasing the participation of young people in the critical debate of news and internet content - developing young people’s capacity to evaluate published information and act accordingly - allowing a systematic approach to digital literacy for young people and professionals working with them - supporting the individual learning process of young people in the context of digital literacy PROJECT OUTPUTS • A tailor-made GENERAL DIDACTIC CONCEPT to foster media literacy in youth work, youth information centres and other educational settings • An APP (for Android and iOS devices) for young people, containing game-based specialised quizzes concerning fake news, media literacy and how to detect them • TRAINING MATERIAL concerning fake news, internet and media literacy for youth workers and teachers PARTICPANTSTo create high quality outputs that can be used across Europe, the main target groups of teachers, trainers and youth workers and young people (from 13 to 19) as well as international experts have been actively involved in the development of the project results, e.g. in pilot tests, interviews and research. In total 30 youth workers, trainers and teachers gave feedback to IO1 and IO4 and 55 young people participated in the pilot testes of IO3. Additionally, LEARNING TEACHING TRAINING ACTIVITIES were conducted, planned and implemented with teacher, trainers and youth workers (15 people at C1) and young people (20 individuals between 13 and 19) and the participants have been involved in the project processes (review of the GENERAL DIDACTIC CONCEPT (IO1), development of the APP (IO3) and development of the TRAINING MATERIAL (IO4)), as well have been trained as multipliers for the topic, the results of the project and as fighters against fake newsACTIVITIESBesides the LEARNING TEACHING TRAINING ACTIVITIES, 5 multiplier events were conducted in the project partner countries (AT, DE, IT, ES, PT), presenting the project and its results, disseminating it and generating multipliers of the project. The multiplier events (E1-E5) attended in total 242 participants from 8 different countries. IMPACT AND LONGER-TERM BENEFITS The impact of the FAKE OFF project on all geographical levels are the following: - usage of the Know-How, expertise and materials in the follow-up project: ""MISS to young people: more information, safe surfing"" (2019-3-IT03-KA105-017667) with its objective to improve youth work quality on the topic of media literacy via 5 full days of training course - empowerment of young people with the skills of critical thinking and media literacy - more responsible use of (online) media by young people - better informed younger generation and stronger fundament for democracy - public discourse about the accuracy and quality of news - awareness of media education in the context of fake news in youth organisations - a general democratization process through making young people less susceptible to intentional misinformation and propaganda - a higher competence regarding digital forms of teaching by youth workers - already used Training Material within the partner organizations and beyond - strong relationship within the consortium for following projects - establishment of local, regional and national networks with other educational institutions, youth workers and public authorities/municipalities"
