Young people are at the very center of the process: overall, their mobility-related choices result in a phenomenon known as drain brain, due to the attractivity of urban/metropolitan areas with respect to inner ones in terms of access to services, quality of life and job opportunities. In Portugal, the divide is particularly visible: 70% of the population lives by the coast (0-50km), as made evident by the two metropolitan areas of the nation, Lisbon and Porto, which account together for almost half of the national population (45% of Continental Portugal, around 4.8 million). ANIMAR, fearing how a lack of generational turnover in marginal areas would negatively affect the capacity of the social economy to support local development, is willing to build a cross-sectoral partnership aiming to elaborate a common strategy with international actors who share the same vision. This is an open call for public institutions and private organizations either working with sustainable tourism, job creation, or youth participation and training: local and regional authorities, schools and universities; networks of NGOs and youth organizations; social enterprises and cooperatives; businesses related to tourism and territorial promotion.VISIONLocal development needs time to prove its impacts and must therefore be attractive in order to regenerate its forces: in concrete, we need to create opportunities for young people to stay in low-density areas. The intuition is to take advantage of two trends of the youth contemporary world: on the one hand, young people have been nourishing a new sensibility, proving their willingness to be actors of positive change toward a more sustainable, inclusive and responsible way of living; on the other hand, eased access to mobility is making it one of the most attractive and effective educational and learning tool. As a consequence, we aim to re-imagine mobility from a drain-braining escape to an experience of connection and exchange, promoting the value of solidarity as a driver of our actions and fostering the transition from individualism to cooperation. What we propose as a solution is thus Solidarity Tourism, able to merge the experiential attractivity of mobility with the inner responsibility toward our common home, where nobody is nowhere left behind. Lastly, the internationalization achieved through solidarity tourism will represent an enrichment for local communities in terms of openness and European values, raising awareness on sustainable living and developing EU citizenship. NEEDS AND TARGETThe overall challenge is to elaborate a virtuous and scalable solution able to fight brain drain by exploiting a new kind of mobility: solidarity tourism. Consequently, while the final beneficiary is youth, the target of the project are youth workers, either belonging to the public sector or to social economy organizations. Their need is to elaborate a methodology in order to attract and empower young people with key competences enabling them to engage with their territory. Our proposal focuses on solidarity tourism, meant as an opportunity to create youth commitment and active participation at local level.RESULTS, DISSEMINATION AND IMPACTS

Too many young people leave school too early and adults are often only equipped with low skills, which increases the risk for (future) unemployment even further. Current figures, especially from Spain and Italy show that a percentage of 43% young adults are currently unemployed. But also in other European countries the percentage of youth unemployment is frightening. The Europe 2020 strategy foresees to foster a high- employment economy whilst ensuring sustainable growth with a more resource efficient, greener and more competitive economy. To address this issue and at the same time to counteract for fighting a prognosed shortage of skilled staff (especially in the Gastronomic sector, ""Lecture about future perspectives of the labour market, Dr. Helmrich- National Agency Germany 2013"") appropriate actions need to be taken. In addition the recognition and validation of formal, non- formal and informal acquired skills and competences form a center piece on the path of life long lerning and support career development. The project aims, through the development and training of key competences and skills, which are relevant to the labour market, and the usage of European Instruments (ECVET) to close an existing gap, which causes staff shortage and will fight future unemployment of low- skilled adults. The project will therefore develop a new Curricula and train participants accordingly in order to ease the access to the labour market. The new qualification will involve basic skills for the tourism sector as well as future skills, which are required to drive the change within tourism enterprise towards sustainable operations. This will contribute to the European 2020 strategy which aims to create a more resource efficient and greener economy. The creation of a self- analysis tool for previously gained non- formal and informal skills and competences applicable to the tourism sector will lead to recognition, validation and transparency and foster the ability of self- analysis as well as increased knowledge for future employment. Future cooperation between the target group and tourism enterprises in (different) partner countries will be fostered and will also stimulate participants to learn additional languages. The project therefore fosters mobility to enable the target group to react on future labour market changes including the flexibility to meet requirements of seasonal jobs. Equipped with additional skills as well as instruments, with which non-formal and informal gained skills and competences are made transparent will ultimately help to overcome personal barriers and obstacles. The long term benefits will help the tourism sector to fight a shortage of staff on the one hand and low skilled adults on the other hand by offering them a qualification in the tourism sector, which meets future requirements through the incorporation of sustainable elements. Through the application of the European Qualification Framework (EQF)during this process the VET system will improve its quality and the participating training institutions will benefit from and increased internationalisation, through the transnational cooperation within the project consortium. A peer group consisting of trainers, job counsellors etc. will offer feedback throughout analysis and definition of the key competences and the creation of the new curricula. The consortium is composed of five partner. The educational institution the Turkish Vocational College of Tourism provides the necessary expertise in the field of Tourism and applied analysis in the field. BEST will contribute to the project with its extensive experiences related to the recognition and validation of skills as well as the creation of new Curricula and the translation into online based tools. The Latvian Country Tourism Association and ARIS promote (sustainable) tourism among their members and have extensive networking experiences. KOAN consulting is deeply involved in the training of tourism enterprises, specialized in sustainable operations. Through these partners, which offer a wide range of networking activities, the usage, dissemination and exploitation of the results will be guaranteed:- the promotion of the new Curricula in the tourism sector, covering basic key skills as well as future skills to meet the demand of the target group, but also the demand of the target sector due to a shortage of staff- Transparency on the basis of ECVET valorises the qualification on local, regional, national and European level- Transparency of non- formal and informal gained competences and skills applicable to the tourism sector on the basis of ECVET- Obstacles through the new qualification and the acknowledgement of previous non- formal and informal gained competences and skills are removed, access to the labour market increases and the shortage of skilled staff within the sector declines"

The share of people aged 65 years and over is increasing in every EU Member State, EFTA and candidate country (Eurostat '17). Turkey, e.g., is one of the world's youngest countries, but it is among the top 10 in the world's fastest ageing. The situation of demographic change is similar in the other partnering country in this project: Austria, Latvia, Spain, Italy. Correspondingly, the growth rates for travellers over 65 years have been increasing over the years - and are even higher than those of other age groups (Analyse Lifestyle 2017). In Spain, e.g. the national institute of statistics censed 3,593,857 travellers, on average 43 years old (2017) and they have seen an increase of 5% in terms of travellers who decide to consume a rural getaway more than once a year. - To this, the tourism sector needs improvement based on new educational approaches and instruments that the ""Silver Travellers"" project wants to provide in order to upgrade respective customer services offered.TANGIBLE RESULTS of the project: The SILVER TRAVELLERS project aims, through the development of mobile learning and professionals' key skills learning material relevant to the labour market and considering the usage of European Instruments (ECVET/ECTS) to close an existing gap in the provision of modern technology learning in the rural tourism sector facing new market challenges. The SILVER TRAVELLERS (IO1) aims at providing access to formal contents that can be used as mobile learning. Hence, this project will provide formal and sequenced learning objects using prompts in different formats, namely audio, text, videos e.g. Being open to public for free download; a Creative Common Licence will be agreed in the partner contracts. (Horizontal priority of Open education and innovative practices in a digital era). Our project also develops SILVER TRAVELLERS - professionals' key skills: skills cards for improved learning pathways and learning material that answer initial and continuous vocational training aspects. The project wants to: provide VET/ HE for working in tourism education with systematic approaches to and opportunities for the initial and continuous professional development of their staff in both school and work-based settings, support educators in this field with new technology solutions for their training.Rural tourism enterprises shall receive results and have a clear competitive advantage by employing Silver Travellers' trained staff and thereby better attract new customer segments to their benefits. Main participants: - Tourism SMEs (mainly in rural areas of the partner countries) and their staff, receiving new skills and benefits- Educators applying the SILVER TRAVELLERS instruments and working with target groups from the tourism sector focused on opening new niche markets Actively participating in the project: 100 partner staff members, 200 learners, 100 VET/tourism provider organisation reps, 80 policy makers/stakeholders Through the application of the European Qualification Framework (EQF) during this process, the VET system will improve its quality and the participating training institutions will benefit from increased internationalisation, through the transnational cooperation within the project consortium. A Peer Group consisting of trainers, job counsellors, tourism representatives will offer feedback throughout analysis and definition of the key competences and the creation of the new skills cards and mobile learning contents. The project consortium is composed of six partners: The educational institution Turkish Vocational College of Tourism, the Sera Lake Hotel, BEST Institut (a private training institute), KOAN a tourism consultancy, the Latvian Country Tourism Association and CONFAPI (a social partner in Italy) provide the necessary expertise and network in the field of Tourism and also the important link to the business sector. The College will provide academic input to research analysis and the OER infrastructure; BEST will contribute to the project with its extensive experiences related to the recognition and validation of skills as well as the creation of new learning material. KOAN will provide tourism sector related contents and know-how of new market trends. The share of tourism in global CO2 emissions has exceeded in 2019 the rate of 10% ,. While our European and international commitments plan to limit global warming to below 2 ° C compared to the pre-industrial level, and CO2 emissions in 2019 exceeded the record high of 40 billion tonnes of CO2 emitted due to human activities on the planet.Among all the subjects addressed by the sustainable development of tourism, controlling CO2 emissions has become a priority subject. However, both travel producers and consumers still struggle to understand the phenomenon of climate change and its interactions with tourism. A proverb says: “tourism can boil your pot just as it can burn your house”. With reference to the word ‘âtre’ meaning ‘house’ in french but also ‘family’, the project “Act for European Responsible Tourism” (ATRE) proposes to use this parable of a tourism which must restrain its contribution to climate change, of a tourism which must not burn its wings, of a tourism which must not saw off the branch on which it is sitting on : a living, livable planet, offering a wide variety of attractive and welcoming destinations!Yet tourism is both “victim and villain” since its sustainability is based on sensitive destinations, the quality of visits of which is threatened by climate change, while it contributes significantly, in its current forms, to global CO2 emissions..It is therefore a matter of involving producers and consumers of travel and tourism services in the fight against climate change and of creating a community of adults active in the production and consumption of more responsible and low-carbon travel.Furthermore, the tourism sector is made up of multiple trades and is increasingly experiencing a “hybridization” of all the functions performed by intermediaries who design and produce the trips, with those who distribute and even those who receive, with an increasing role of the use of the internet. There is also more and more “disintermediation” where the traveler himself becomes a producer or even distributor (coach), or the receiver on site directly markets stays.Faced with this mosaic of situations, the ATRE project has chosen to target European adults involved with the consumption or production of travel and to promote their understanding of the climate emergency as well as to give them the means to reduce, assess and absorb the CO2 emissions of their trips, training them in the necessary eco-gestures.<< Objectives >>The ATRE project will mobilize a network of European actors sensitive to the sustainable development of tourism, responsible for jointly producing and then disseminating in their respective geographical areas adult education tools on the challenges (why act?) and good practices (how to act? ?) in the fight against climate change so as to honor the objectives of the Paris Agreement and the European Green New Deal. The target groups :1. First of all producers who design trips and assemble tourist services, intermediaries between travelers and producers of tourist services in destinations (local transport, guide, accommodation, catering and on-site activities), such as operators, members of ATR networks in France (which also participates in the inter-professional network of Sustainable Tourism Actors ATD in France), AITR in Italy, and the UPAV in Belgium, making it possible to reach a large number of experts and beneficiaries using educational tools, in particular, “intermediaries” between travelers and producers of tourist services in destinations, but also travelers, in particular customers of members of these networks.2.Then the producers of tourist services in the destinations which are responsible for transporting, guiding, accommodating, feeding and offering activities and visits to travelers, in interaction with many other actors in the field, such as MKP (receptive agency and NGO working with many local partners in Greece) and KOAN (consulting firm which supports many and various partners, which also co-founded the Spanish Center for Responsible Tourism), should facilitate the identification of the most important challenges (knowledge on the why) and good practices (skills on the how) to recommend to European tourism stakeholders, especially travelers and those who welcome them.3. Finally, the travelers themselves because their behavior also depends on the responsible nature of the trip. The project meets its objectives while participating in the digital transformation and also responding to the digital decade (2021-2030) of the EU with new uses of digital tools that benefit citizens and businesses, while helping the EU to achieve its goal of climate neutrality by 2050.The ATRE project offers, through educational cooperation between the above partners, research and development of 3 digital tools: to train adults in the fight against climate change as part of their travels, to measure, reduce and absorb CO2 emissions from travel:1.A MOOC: educational web pages with educational content permanently accessible (upon registration) with files, videos and quizzes, in 4 modules (understand / evaluate / reduce / absorb) for travel designers and producers, intermediaries between travelers and producers of tourist services in destinations, in particular salespeople and those responsible for communication and customer relations at travel agencies, product managers but also those responsible for transport to the destinations of tour operators and those responsible for relations with suppliers2. An application: responsive web pages (accessible from a mobile phone) with 5 pictogramsdedicated to the various reception functions (guide / driver / host / cook / site manager) and factsheets for service producers tourism in destinations, who will be supported in understanding the challenges and the adoption of eco-gestures on the scale of their realities on the ground3. A game: web pages based on an interactive map presenting the challenges and providing suggestions for more or less committed and low-carbon routes, for travelers, consumers of tourist services, trained in a series of eco-friendly actions.<< Implementation >>In Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, and Greece, the aim is to mobilize thematic resources and teaching skills, to pool complementary knowledge on the interactions between tourism and climate change, and to make the challenges of the fight against climate change understandable for a heterogeneous audience of tourism stakeholders to produce and then distribute tools intended for several types of audiences.Tool development:Three partners are each responsible for the development of one of the digital educational tools:The Spanish partner KOAN will be responsible for coordinating the development of the MOOC for “designer” producers in the tourism sector. The Greek partner MKP will be responsible for coordinating the development of the application for providers of different tourism-related service sectors. The French partner and ATR (coordinating organization) will be responsible for developing the online game for travelers. As such, the 3 coordinators will ensure the pooling of the knowledge of experts from the networks of the 5 other partners and of their own experts. In partnership with the IT specialist and the graphic designer contracted by the partnership, they will compose a first functional French version of the tools. The Travel Pro partner will ensure the pedagogical framework of the method.Transnational trainingA mid-term transnational training course of 4 days in Paris will allow to simultaneously test the tools and train 4 executives per partner organization.Organized by TravelPro, each partner responsible for a tool will provide teaching facilitationfor their product. The finalization of the toolsUpon return in their respective countries, these first ambassadors will organize a pilot training to test the 3 tools on their respective targets.Following feedback from the evaluation of the 3 products by the 5 partners, the 3 product coordinators will finalize the 3 tools, which will then be translated into their respective languages. The Travel Pro partner will be responsible for the English version of the tools.Communication and disseminationThe Italian partner AITR is responsible for the coordination of communication throughout the project. The products of the ATRE project will be widely promoted through the networks of the partners themselves and those of their associated partners. The highlight of the communication will be the 5 final dissemination events in each of the 5 partner countries. Over one day, the partners will present the 3 tools to the participants. Then training workshops will be organized for each of the tools so as to ensure the appropriation of the tools, already from the end of the project, by as many people as possible.<< Results >>Production:To achieve its objective of training travel stakeholders, producers and consumers, to integrate climate change concerns at all levels of travel, the ATRE project will produce 3 digital tools addressed to different audiences, to understand the interconnections between climate change and tourism, give oneself the means to assess their impact, and eco-friendly actions to reduce this impact, and / or to absorb it:- A MOOC for people producing tours, stays, and tourism offerings. It will be composed of 4 modules:1 / Understand the interactions between climate change and tourism (Why act?)2 / Evaluate the CO2 emissions of travel companies and their productions3 / Reduce the CO2 emissions of travel companies and their productions4 / Absorb CO2 emissions from travel companies and their productions - A smartphone application for adults who produce tourist services (guide, local transport, accommodation, catering, on-site activities)This application will have several “I am” profiles with associated pictograms for each profession: guide, driver, host (link), cook, tourist site manager.Several entries:1 / Understand the interactions between climate change and tourism (Why act?), and feel the urgency to fight against climate change and to act to assess, reduce and absorb CO2 emissions when we ... guide, transport, host, feed, welcome tourists.2 / Adopt a series of eco-gestures to measure / reduce / offset your carbon footprint in the various tourism-related services - An online game for adults who consume travel and tourism services. It will be a game with several entries on the motivations and practices of travel with associated pictograms for each. It will be of very simple ergonomics for easy use by all types of travelers in order to allow them to:1 / Understand the interactions between climate change and tourism (Why act?)2 / Adopt a series of eco-gestures to measure, reduce and absorb CO2 emissions from travel Training:In addition, the ATRE project will train in the use of these tools which will be available and free: - The technical and scientific teams of the 6 partner organizations, ie 24 people during C1: These will be the “Ambassadors” of ATRE.- The 75 participants (15 / countries) on whom the 3 tools will be tested in a targeted manner during the pilot test phase before evaluation and completion.- The 270 participants of the 5 final dissemination and training events

The food system has a strong impact on the environment: it is the sector with the highest demand of water. A great part of the production is lost and transformed in waste. While the population is growing, the purchasing power of numerous citizens is reduced by the economic and social crisis, and in a context of climatic emergency implying a successful ecological transition and a smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, T4F wants to participate and support the transition as a creator of new jobs. The target group of the project includes those workers or VET-students, who are part of the food chain management, who intend to develop an expertise in implementing and promoting food value chains in their own working sectors, according to their professional specificities. Developing sustainable skills - or green skills - means integrating societal and environmental issues and concerns into vocational training in the food sector.Led by a Belgian (POUR LA SOLIDARITÉ-PLS, Diesis.Coop, For.e.t), Italian (Fondazione Triulza, UCMed) and Spanish (Koan Consulting, ESHOB) partnership, the T4F project made it possible to :-Make an analysis of the current situation of sustainable food training in Europe and define on this basis the T4F training framework.-Define a learning program for learners.-Develop a methodological guide for trainers to help them to implement the learning program.-Create an assessment tool for systematic collection and analysis of information to improve the students' learning. This tool can assess learners' knowledge before and after the training.-Develop interactive manuals for each of the three tools mentioned above in order to sustain and disseminate our training.-Organize a training week in Sorrento where Belgian, Spanish and Italian trainees and trainers were able to exchange ideas on the different ways of learning and cooking, and to discover the T4F training. -Organize 6 events to disseminate the results of the project and to promote T4F training.-Disseminate information in order to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge on the future transformations of the professional food sector, in particular via a website (www.trainingforfood.eu), a Youtube channel (https://bit.ly/2RrBRF4) and social networks.-Co-construct, with the T4F partnership and stakeholders, policy recommendations for public authorities in order to tackle the issue of training for sustainable food!Currently, 6 training centers (excluding the T4F VET partners) have already integrated the training into their programs; 83 training centers outside of the project approached T4F partners for information on training; 181 students received the training in their own countries; and 11 trainees and 3 teachers went to Sorrento to attend a week of training where they have learned about sustainability and the Mediterranean diet. Considering the reception of the Horeca sector, the results of the communication campaign and the feedback from the participants at our various events, the T4F project is definitely a great success!
