Abstract

En esta colección, considerada la mas importante de la region caribe de Colombia, se destacan las colectas de Alwyn Gentry, Hermes Cuadros, Santiago Madriñán y Vlastimil Zak. Los registros han sido colectados desde el año 1957 hasta el año 2023 en 22 países, con 81% de los registros en Colombia principalmente del la Region Caribe y la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

La colección biológica de herbario del Jardín Botánico de Cartagena, se encuentra registrada ante el Registro Nacional de Colecciones como Colección de Herbario María Jiménez de Piñeres (JBGP 69). Cuenta con 14.907 registros, de los cuales 72% se encuentran clasificados a nivel de especies, 22% a nivel de genero y 4.4% a nivel de familia.
