The Municipal Herbarium of the São Paulo City Hall was established in 1984, initially focusing on collections from parks and green areas within the Atlantic Forest biome in the municipality. Over time, its scope expanded to include other locations. The herbarium houses holotypes and paratypes, as well as a complementary collection in the carpotheque, liquid-preserved specimens, and photographs of living plants. The herbarium collaborates with national research institutions through exchange programs and participates in projects related to ethnobotany, floristics, and paleoenvironmental studies.
