A Biological Survey of the Waters of Woods Hole and Vacinity
Between 1903 and 1907 a comprehensive survery of the marine benthic fauna and flora of Buzzards Bay and Vineyard Sound, MA was conducted. In the study greater than 460 dredge samples were taken and all taxa collected identified. These data along with a variety of habitat and environmental data were published in 1911. In addition the publication contains information on all other marine species in the region at that time that were not or could not be collected using a dredge. All data were extracted from the published report and converted to electronic format. In addition, station location data were converted to standard Latitude and Longitude format. Where possible taxonomic identifications were updated. An Access database of the complete dataset, including both original and updated taxonomic information, station descriptions, habitat information, and notes on species is available on the SERC website. The original publication is available in PDF format through the Smithsonian Library as G. M. Bowers. 1913. A bioloigical survey of the waters of Woods Hole and vicinity.
