Swiss National Reptile Databank
This dataset presents Reptile occurrence records from Switzerland and adjacent areas. Data sources are literature, museum collections and field observations. The latter and most important resource is provided by a small network of volunteer collaborators, regional representatives of the Swiss Coordination Office for Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (https://infofauna.ch/fr/services-conseil/reptiles-karch) as well as environmental impact studies, national and regional inventories, monitoring, field work for Red Lists and academic work (2025-03-10: 266'993 records). In order to protect sensitive species, occurrence data is generally provided as annual presence reported per 5x5km/10x10km grid cell. The period covered by the data extends from 1800 to the present day. All data provided have been subject to a validation procedure.
